Sodar measurements used in an interpretation of dial data

    No full text
Remote sensing techniques are nowadays widely used next to classical in-situ measurements for studying properties of atmospheric boundary layer (ABL). Doppler SODAR (Sound Detection and Ranging) was introduced to skilled public for the first time around 1975 and today is used in routine investigations of thermal structure, turbulence and vertical mass movement in ABL. It is also used for estimation of mixing layer height and for continuous monitoring of wind speed and direction. Application of REMTECH Doppler SODAR PA2 system as a support tool for studying pollutant dispersion in ABL is demonstrated on model studies performed in urban and suburban areas with use of combined mobile detection system DIAL LIDAR 510M / SODAR PA2

Our study contains application of Latent Semantic Indexing on financial crises prediction. Hypothesis to test was that equity markets are able to predict even sharp changes in monetary policy during a quarter ahead of such a change (which was searched during two quarters that followed). This hypothesis, tested on sample of 36 countries between years 1985 and 2007, has been confirmed according to interest rate and foreign exchange expert interpretation. The studied application of LSI even though it timed several crises on their exact start day is not suitable for financial crises prediction but can be recommended for specification and analysis of fragile countries which are or could be prone to a crisis

First determination of isotopically invariant parameters of the negative ion—Hydrogen sulfide anion (SH−)

The first isotopically invariant Dunham analysis of a negative ion (the hydrogen sulfide anion SH−) that uses all available infrared and sub-millimeter wave experimental data on 32SH−, 33SH−, 34SH−, and 32SD− yields accurate information on Born–Oppenheimer breakdown parameters. The potential constants of expansion of the potential function up to the sixth order were calculated. Differences between the construction of the potential function based on the Morse potential and that on the base of the power series expansion are shown

Model and real pollutant dispersion: concentration studies by conventional analytics and by laser spectrometry

    No full text
The differential absorption LIDAR together with spot analyzers (infrared absorption and chemiluminescence method) was used for concentration measurements in an urban street canyon in Prague. Measurements in the real atmosphere were compared with measurements of concentration distribution inside a model. Experiments in a wind-tunnel-simulated atmosphere were carried out using laser photoacoustic spectrometry and the laser visualization method. A comparison of concentrations on the windward and leeward sides of the model and real street canyon was performed
