One of basic tasks of human resource management in a metallurgical enterprise is assurance of workers with correct - from organization point of view - competences. These activities are possible only when competences needed in the enterprise are recognized and the influence of particular competences on correct course of manufacturing process is described. This enables the enterprise to have an access to exact qualification of workers’ profiles which should be applied on stage of selection. In this paper, on the example of chosen unit of metallurgical enterprise, methods possible to use in human resource management are presented.

Niobium thin film deposition studies on copper surfaces for superconducting radio frequency cavity applications

    Get PDF
Thin film coatings have the potential to increase both the thermal efficiency and accelerating gradient in superconducting radio frequency accelerator cavities. However, before this potential can be realized, systematic studies on structure-property correlations in these thin films need to be carried out since the reduced geometry, combined with specific growth parameters, can modify the physical properties of the materials when compared to their bulk form. Here, we present our systematic studies of Nb thin films deposited onto Cu surfaces to clarify possible reasons for the limited success that this process exhibited in previous attempts. We compare these films with Nb grown on other surfaces. In particular, we study the crystal structure and surface morphology and their effect on superconducting properties, such as critical temperature and lower critical field. We found that higher deposition temperature leads to a sharper critical temperature transition, but also to increased roughness indicating that there are competing mechanisms that must be considered for further optimization

Relation between the plastic instability and fracture of tensile tested Cu-Sn alloys investigated with the application of acoustic emission technique

    Get PDF
The work concerns the application of the acoustic emission (AE) method in testing the mechanical properties of continuously cast industrial tin bronze CuSn6P, which reveals tendencies to instable plastic flow connected particularly with the Portevin-Le Chatelier (PLC) effect. The relations between the jerky flow connected with the PLC effect, AE intensity and the evolution of a fracture of the investigated alloy subjected to the tensile test at a strain rate (?? ) of about 1.2·10-3s-1 in the range of temperatures (20÷400?C) has been analyzed. It has been found that the highest intensity of the oscillation of stresses, corresponding to the instability of plastic deformation PLC occurred at 200?C, whereas the maximum of the AE activity is at about 200÷250?C. The brittle intergranular fracture starts in the range of equicohersive temperature (TE) of about 200?C. Plastic deformation of the investigated alloy in the range of the temperature of minimum plasticity, amounting to about 400?C, results in intercrystalline fractures on the entire surface of the stretched samples

Mechanisms of plastic instability and fracture of compressed and tensile tested Mg-Li alloys investigated using the acoustic emission method

    Get PDF
The results of the investigation of both mechanical and acoustic emission (AE) behaviors of Mg4Li5Al alloy subjected to compression and tensile tests at room temperature are compared with the test results obtained using the same alloy and loading scheme but at elevated temperatures. The main aim of the paper is to investigate, to determine and to explain the possible influence of factors related with enhanced internal stresses such as: segregation of precipitates along grain boundaries or solute atoms along dislocations (Cottrell atmospheres) or dislocation pile-ups at grain boundaries which create very high stress concentration leading to fracture. The results show that the plastic instabilities are related to the Portevin–Le Châtelier phenomenon (PL effect) and they are correlated with the generation of AE peaks. The fractography of breaking samples was analyzed on the basis of light (optical), TEM and SEM images

Studies of η\eta and η\eta' production in pppp and ppPb collisions

The production of η\eta and η\eta' mesons is studied in proton-proton and proton-lead collisions collected with the LHCb detector. Proton-proton collisions are studied at center-of-mass energies of 5.025.02 and 13 TeV13~{\rm TeV}, and proton-lead collisions are studied at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon of 8.16 TeV8.16~{\rm TeV}. The studies are performed in center-of-mass rapidity regions 2.5<yc.m.<3.52.5<y_{\rm c.m.}<3.5 (forward rapidity) and 4.0<yc.m.<3.0-4.0<y_{\rm c.m.}<-3.0 (backward rapidity) defined relative to the proton beam direction. The η\eta and η\eta' production cross sections are measured differentially as a function of transverse momentum for 1.5<pT<10 GeV1.5<p_{\rm T}<10~{\rm GeV} and 3<pT<10 GeV3<p_{\rm T}<10~{\rm GeV}, respectively. The differential cross sections are used to calculate nuclear modification factors. The nuclear modification factors for η\eta and η\eta' mesons agree at both forward and backward rapidity, showing no significant evidence of mass dependence. The differential cross sections of η\eta mesons are also used to calculate η/π0\eta/\pi^0 cross section ratios, which show evidence of a deviation from the world average. These studies offer new constraints on mass-dependent nuclear effects in heavy-ion collisions, as well as η\eta and η\eta' meson fragmentation.Comment: All figures and tables, along with machine-readable versions and any supplementary material and additional information, are available at https://lhcbproject.web.cern.ch/Publications/p/LHCb-PAPER-2023-030.html (LHCb public pages

Observation of the doubly charmed baryon decay Ξcc++→Ξc′+π+

    Get PDF
The Ξcc++→Ξc′+π+ decay is observed using proton-proton collisions collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb−1. The Ξcc++→Ξc′+π+ decay is reconstructed partially, where the photon from the Ξc′+→Ξc+γ decay is not reconstructed and the pK−π+ final state of the Ξc+ baryon is employed. The Ξcc++→Ξc′+π+branching fraction relative to that of the Ξcc++→Ξc+π+ decay is measured to be 1.41 ± 0.17 ± 0.10, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. Measurement of antiproton production from antihyperon decays in pHe collisions at √sNN=110GeV

    Get PDF
The interpretation of cosmic antiproton flux measurements from space-borne experiments is currently limited by the knowledge of the antiproton production cross-section in collisions between primary cosmic rays and the interstellar medium. Using collisions of protons with an energy of 6.5 TeV incident on helium nuclei at rest in the proximity of the interaction region of the LHCb experiment, the ratio of antiprotons originating from antihyperon decays to prompt production is measured for antiproton momenta between 12 and 110GeV\!/c . The dominant antihyperon contribution, namely Λ¯ → p¯ π+ decays from promptly produced Λ¯ particles, is also exclusively measured. The results complement the measurement of prompt antiproton production obtained from the same data sample. At the energy scale of this measurement, the antihyperon contributions to antiproton production are observed to be significantly larger than predictions of commonly used hadronic production models

Fraction of χc\chi_c decays in prompt J/ψJ/\psi production measured in pPb collisions at sNN=8.16\sqrt{s_{NN}}=8.16 TeV

The fraction of χc1\chi_{c1} and χc2\chi_{c2} decays in the prompt J/ψJ/\psi yield, Fχc=σχcJ/ψ/σJ/ψF_{\chi c}=\sigma_{\chi_c \to J/\psi}/\sigma_{J/\psi}, is measured by the LHCb detector in pPb collisions at sNN=8.16\sqrt{s_{NN}}=8.16 TeV. The study covers the forward (1.5<y<4.01.5<y^*<4.0) and backward (5.0<y<2.5-5.0<y^*<-2.5) rapidity regions, where yy^* is the J/ψJ/\psi rapidity in the nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass system. Forward and backward rapidity samples correspond to integrated luminosities of 13.6 ±\pm 0.3 nb1^{-1} and 20.8 ±\pm 0.5 nb1^{-1}, respectively. The result is presented as a function of the J/ψJ/\psi transverse momentum pT,J/ψp_{T,J/\psi} in the range 1<pT,J/ψ<20<p_{T, J/\psi}<20 GeV/cc. The FχcF_{\chi c} fraction at forward rapidity is compatible with the LHCb measurement performed in pppp collisions at s=7\sqrt{s}=7 TeV, whereas the result at backward rapidity is 2.4 σ\sigma larger than in the forward region for 1<pT,J/ψ<31<p_{T, J/\psi}<3 GeV/cc. The increase of FχcF_{\chi c} at low pT,J/ψp_{T, J/\psi} at backward rapidity is compatible with the suppression of the ψ\psi(2S) contribution to the prompt J/ψJ/\psi yield. The lack of in-medium dissociation of χc\chi_c states observed in this study sets an upper limit of 180 MeV on the free energy available in these pPb collisions to dissociate or inhibit charmonium state formation.Comment: All figures and tables, along with machine-readable versions and any supplementary material and additional information, are available at https://cern.ch/lhcbproject/Publications/p/LHCb-PAPER-2023-028.html (LHCb public pages

Study of charmonium and charmonium-like contributions in B+ → J/ψηK+ decays

A study of B+→ J/ψηK+ decays, followed by J/ψ → μ+μ− and η → γγ, is performed using a dataset collected with the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. The J/ψη mass spectrum is investigated for contributions from charmonia and charmonium-like states. Evidence is found for the B+→ (ψ2(3823) → J/ψη)K+ and B+→ (ψ(4040) → J/ψη)K+ decays with significance of 3.4 and 4.7 standard deviations, respectively. This constitutes the first evidence for the ψ2(3823) → J/ψη decay
