    Get PDF
Students educate and progress when performing in social service organizations, and social works professors and field teachers must comprehend these procedures. By knowing the mechanisms by which learners grow and improve when functioning in social service organizations, instructors and field trainers can fully understand individuals' academic goals and determine the more efficient strategies to assist students during learning in practice. In that sense, the essay looks at field studying in social service training in terms of the two most common adult learning techniques, personal learning concepts and sociocultural training methods, and how they are utilized in the workplace in-field assignment contexts. Consequently, the paper highlights the diverse character of field learning while claiming that sociocultural methods vary by nation, depending on the demands and realistic goals of social work practice. In Pakistan, social work has to be recognized as a realistic strategy in private as well as public sector. Promoting a realistic study strategy for field situations has been a primary obligation of those connected with social practice. As a consequence, Pakistanis will begin to know their actual pedagogy earlier or later, which is similarly crucial for the advantage of corporate social work training. They connect with customers, colleagues, and mentors throughout their practical experiences, and these encounters help them build communication abilities. Objective: To measure the effects of WAHS intra-operatively with respect to subject’s well-being, pain and choice for wide awake surgery. Methodology: A cross sectional study of seventy patients with age range from 15-65 years, who underwent hand surgery in Jinnah Burn and Reconstructive Surgery Center, Lahore, between January 2019 to August 2019. The effectiveness of anesthesia was measured by pain, well-being and patient preferences. Pain was rated using the visual analogue scale (VAS). Patient well-being was tested depending on how they felt with respect to options on the Likert scale depicting in terms of extremely well, well, less well and extremely less well on VAS scoring. The preference of the subject was assessed by his experience in the surgery and the anesthesia they chose. Results: The total number of patients was 70, whose age was 33.63±6.94 in the range of 15 to 65 years. The average pain score on the VAS was 0.51±1.38 and the duration of surgery was 1.43±0.35 hours. Pain was a variation in the outcome observed in operation during surgery. There were 84.3% of patients who did not experience any pain during their surgery. The remaining patients showed various levels of pain on VAS. Conclusion: The benefits of WAHS are that short duration hand surgery procedures can be done using local anesthesia containing epinephrine. It is cost effective, avoids the side effects of general anesthesia, avoids the use of a tourniquet and reduces the burden of surgical patients requiring general or regional anesthesia procedure. It also avoids patient admission in to the hospital thus sparing hospital beds

Introduction: Stroke is the most common type of cerebrovascular injury caused by sudden decrease in blood supply that can lead to weaknesses and other associated problems. Many treatment options are available for stroke with promising results. This trial was designed to explore the role of mental imagery (visual) in the sub-acute stage, considering the stroke patient, especially in evaluating its effects on the lower extremities. Material & Methods: An experimental randomized controlled trial was performed from July to August 2018 in physiotherapy departments of National Hospital and Aadil Hospital Defence Lahore. A total of 80 patients having sub-acute stroke with strong perceptions having a score of 25 or more in the Mini Mental Score Exam and a 3 +/5 manual muscle testing grade system in the lower extremity were taken using non-probability consecutive sampling procedure. All the patients were divided into 2 groups randomly. Conservative treatment including strengthening and balance training were given to one group and conservative treatment with addition of visual imagery to the second group. Independent t-test was used to assess significant differences between the two groups. Results: Comparison of Berg Balance Scale at pre-intervention between the experimental group and the controlled group was not significant, 13.76 ± 2.85 vs 13.84 ± 3.26 (p=0.927), respectively. After intervention the effects of treatment were significant in both groups, 18.64 ± 2.33 vs 17.80 ± 2.94(p=0.007), respectively. Comparison of Time Up and Go test at pre-intervention between groups was not significant, 6.28 ± 1.86 vs 6.68 ± 0.99(p=0.347), respectively. The intervention effects after treatment in both groups were significant, 1.84 ± 1.28 vs 3.56 ± 1.26 (p=0.001), respectively. Conclusion: It is concluded that mental imagery along with conservative treatment plays a vital role in construction of neural circuit in sub-acute stroke patients

Potato figures among the principal crop in Pakistan. This paper describes the determinants of potato prices in Punjab, Pakistan. Annual data for the period 1998-2014 were analyzed to identify factors affecting the prices of potato. Results indicated that temperature and world oil prices were significantly affecting price. Seasonal variation of prices are also analyzed in this paper. This paper also use ARIMA and ARMA model to forecast the prices. These results suggest that temperature increase above the limit will lead to increase in prices and support prices also

Curriculum regulation and its oversight are indispensable and vital components of professional development. Regulatory bodies along with professional organisations have an essential role in curriculum regulation. The Pakistan Speech and Language Pathology Association, a body duly registered under the laws of Pakistan and whose governing body exclusively comprises pathologists with master’s in Speech Language, has taken up the matter of standardisation and uniformity of curriculum with universities and with the Higher Education Commission. The commission regulates the undergraduate curricula, but there remains lack of uniformity in curriculum and its monitoring in Pakistan. The current narrative review was planned to highlight the indiscipline in rehabilitation curriculum development and implementation and its causes. Key Words: Curriculum, Inhibitors, Physical therapy, Regulatory body, Speech language pathology

Evolution of non-flat cosmos via GGPDE

This paper is devoted to explore the cosmic evolution of non-flat Friedmann Robertson Walker universe through generalized ghost pilgrim dark energy model in the background of f(R) gravity. For this purpose, we consider two well known scale factors, i.e., power-law and unified scale factors in terms of red shift parameter. For these scale factors, we reconstruct the given dark energy model in f(R) gravity and determine its stability/instability through squared speed of sound parameter. In order to discuss the behavior of reconstructed and dark energy models, we evaluate well known cosmological parameter such as equation of state parameter along with ω\omega –ω′\omega ' plane. In addition to this, we also investigate compatibility of new models with standard cosmological models through state-finder parameters. The density parameter is formulated for both ordinary matter as well as dark energy components and results are compared with Planck 2018 constraints. It is concluded that cosmological parameters reveal consistency with recent observations while the value of density parameter suggested by Planck 2018 is achieved by power-law scale factor in most of the cases as compared to unified scale factor

Final report and team photo for Project 07 of ME450, Fall 2009 semester.Thoracic surgeons and emergency physicians perform thoracotomies in order to access the thoracic (chest) cavity including the heart, lungs, thoracic aorta, and esophagus. The goal of this project is to design and build a simulator that mimics the way a normal and abnormal chest would function including a chest cavity, rib cage, beating heart, breathing lungs, esophagus, and pulsating veins and arteries so that clinicians can practice performing a thoracotomy.Pamela Andreatta (Obstetrics & Gynecology, U of M)http://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/86201/1/ME450 Fall2009 Final Report - Project 07 - Surgical Thoracotomy Simulator.pdfhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/86201/2/ME450 Fall2009 Team Photo - Project 07 - Surgical Thoracotomy Simulator.jp

Quintessence Compact Stars Satisfying Karmarkar Condition

    No full text
In this research article, we have presented the modelling of quintessence compact stars which satisfies the Karmarkar conditions. For this purpose, we have formulated the set of Einstein field equations with the static metric, anisotropic perfect fluid and quintessence field. The equation of state pr=ÃŽÄ…ÄŽ and Karmarkar condition have been used to solve the set of field equations. The unknown constant in the metric functions (appearing due to the Karmarkar conditions) have been found by matching the interior metric with the Schwarzschild exterior metric. The observed value of mass and radius of some well known class of a star has been used. The fluid variables density, radial and transverse pressures and anisotropic parameter have plotted graphically. The first and second derivatives of density and radial pressure have been evaluated to discuss the regularity off the model. The speed of sound for the radial and transverse directions determine the stability of the proposed model. Moreover the redshift for the proposed model of the star has been discussed. The accepted manuscript in pdf format is listed with the files at the bottom of this page.
