Correlator of Topological Charge Densities in Instanton Model in QCD
The QCD sum rule for the correlator of topological charge densities and
related to it longitudinal part of the correlator of singlet axial currents is
considered in the framework of instanton model. The coupling constant of
eta'-meson with the singlet axial current is determined. Its value appears to
be in a good coincidence with the value determined recently from the connection
of the part of proton spin, carried by u,d,s quarks, with the derivative of QCD
topological susceptibility. From the same sum rule eta-eta' mixing angle is
found in the framework of two mixing angles model. Its value is close to that
found in the chiral effective theory. The correlator of topological charge
densities at large momenta is calculated.Comment: 14 pages, 2 figure
Time-dependent density-functional theory for ultrafast interband excitations
We formulate a time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) in terms of
the density matrix to study ultrafast phenomena in semiconductor structures. A
system of equations for the density matrix components, which is equivalent to
the time-dependent Kohn-Sham equation, is derived. From this we obtain a TDDFT
version of the semiconductor Bloch equations, where the electronic many-body
effects are taken into account in principle exactly. As an example, we study
the optical response of a three-dimensional two-band insulator to an external
short-time pulsed laser field. We show that the optical absorption spectrum
acquires excitonic features when the exchange-correlation potential contains a
Coulomb singularity. A qualitative comparison of the TDDFT optical
absorption spectra with the corresponding results obtained within the
Hartree-Fock approximation is made
Nonequilibrium mesoscopic conductance fluctuations
We investigate the amplitude of mesoscopic fluctuations of the differential
conductance of a metallic wire at arbitrary bias voltage V. For non-interacting
electrons, the variance increases with V. The asymptotic large-V
behavior is \sim V/V_c (where eV_c=D/L^2 is the Thouless energy),
in agreement with the earlier prediction by Larkin and Khmelnitskii. We find,
however, that this asymptotics has a very small numerical prefactor and sets in
at very large V/V_c only, which strongly complicates its experimental
observation. This high-voltage behavior is preceded by a crossover regime,
V/V_c \lesssim 30, where the conductance variance increases by a factor \sim 3
as compared to its value in the regime of universal conductance fluctuations
(i.e., at V->0). We further analyze the effect of dephasing due to the
electron-electron scattering on at high voltages. With the Coulomb
interaction taken into account, the amplitude of conductance fluctuations
becomes a non-monotonic function of V. Specifically, drops as 1/V
for voltages V >> gV_c, where g is the dimensionless conductance. In this
regime, the conductance fluctuations are dominated by quantum-coherent regions

Twist-four Corrections to Parity-Violating Electron-Deuteron Scattering
Parity violating electron-deuteron scattering can potentially provide a clean
access to electroweak couplings that are sensitive to physics beyond the
Standard Model. However hadronic effects can contaminate their extraction from
high-precision measurements. Power-suppressed contributions are one of the main
sources of uncertainties along with charge-symmetry violating effects in
leading-twist parton densities. In this work we calculate the twist-four
correlation functions contributing to the left-right polarization asymmetry
making use of nucleon multiparton light-cone wave functions.Comment: 12 pages, 3 figure
Time-dependent density-matrix functional theory for biexcitonic phenomena
We formulate a time-dependent density-matrix functional theory (TDDMFT)
approach for higher-order correlation effects like biexcitons in optical
processes in solids based on the reduced two-particle density-matrix formalism
within the normal orbital representation. A TDDMFT version of the Schr\"odinger
equation for biexcitons in terms of one- and two-body reduced density matrices
is derived, which leads to finite biexcitonic binding energies already with an
adiabatic approximation. Biexcitonic binding energies for several bulk
semiconductors are calculated using a contact biexciton model
Exclusive photoproduction of hard dijets and magnetic susceptibility of QCD vacuum
We argue that coherent production of hard dijets by linearly polarized real
photons can provide direct evidence for chirality violation in hard processes,
the first measurement of the magnetic susceptibility of the quark condensate
and the photon distribution amplitude. It can also serve as a sensitive probe
of the generalized gluon parton distribution. Numerical calculations are

Coulomb blockade in two island systems with highly conductive junctions
We report measurements on single-electron pumps, consisting of two metallic
islands formed by three tunnel junctions in series. We focus on the
linear-response conductance as a function of gate voltage and temperature of
three samples with varying system parameters. In all cases, strong quantum
fluctuation phenomena are observed by a log(k_B T/(2 E_co)) reduction of the
maximal conductance, where E_co measures the coupling strength between the
islands. The samples display a rich phenomenology, culminating in a
non-monotonic behavior of the maximal conductance as a function of temperature
Evolution Equation for Generalized Parton Distributions
The extension of the method [arXiv:hep-ph/0503109] for solving the leading
order evolution equation for Generalized Parton Distributions (GPDs) is
presented. We obtain the solution of the evolution equation both for the flavor
nonsinglet quark GPD and singlet quark and gluon GPDs. The properties of the
solution and, in particular, the asymptotic form of GPDs in the small x and \xi
