Classical and quantum dynamics of a model for atomic-molecular Bose--Einstein condensates

We study a model for a two-mode atomic-molecular Bose--Einstein condensate. Starting with a classical analysis we determine the phase space fixed points of the system. It is found that bifurcations of the fixed points naturally separate the coupling parameter space into four regions. The different regions give rise to qualitatively different dynamics. We then show that this classification holds true for the quantum dynamics.Comment: 13 pages, 7 eps figure

SAMplus: adaptive optics at optical wavelengths for SOAR

Adaptive Optics (AO) is an innovative technique that substantially improves the optical performance of ground-based telescopes. The SOAR Adaptive Module (SAM) is a laser-assisted AO instrument, designed to compensate ground-layer atmospheric turbulence in near-IR and visible wavelengths over a large Field of View. Here we detail our proposal to upgrade SAM, dubbed SAMplus, that is focused on enhancing its performance in visible wavelengths and increasing the instrument reliability. As an illustration, for a seeing of 0.62 arcsec at 500 nm and a typical turbulence profile, current SAM improves the PSF FWHM to 0.40 arcsec, and with the upgrade we expect to deliver images with a FWHM of $\approx0.34$ arcsec -- up to 0.23 arcsec FWHM PSF under good seeing conditions. Such capabilities will be fully integrated with the latest SAM instruments, putting SOAR in an unique position as observatory facility.Comment: To appear in Proc. Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov-Bernard equations connected with the eight-vertex model

Using quasiclassical limit of Baxter's 8 - vertex R - matrix, an elliptic generalization of the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equation is constructed. Via Off-Shell Bethe ansatz an integrable representation for this equation is obtained. It is shown that there exists a gauge transformation connecting this equation with Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov-Bernard equation for SU(2)-WZNW model on torus.Comment: 20 pages latex, macro: tcilate
