Security of Plug-and-Play QKD Arrangements with Finite Resources

    Get PDF
The security of a passive plug-and-play QKD arrangement in the case of finite (resources) key lengths is analysed. It is assumed that the eavesdropper has full access to the channel so an unknown and untrusted source is assumed. To take into account the security of the BB84 protocol under collective attacks within the framework of quantum adversaries, a full treatment provides the well-known equations for the secure key rate. A numerical simulation keeping a minimum number of initial parameters constant as the total error sought and the number of pulses is carried out. The remaining parameters are optimized to produce the maximum secure key rate. Two main strategies are addressed: with and without two-decoy-states including the optimization of signal to decoy relationship

    Diabatic quantum gates

At present, several models for quantum computation have been proposed. Adiabatic quantum computation scheme particularly offers this possibility and is based on a slow enough time evolution of the system, where no transitions take place. In this work, a new strategy for quantum computation is provided from the opposite point of view. The objective is to control the non-adiabatic transitions between some states in order to produce the desired exit states after the evolution. The model is introduced by means of an analogy between the adiabatic quantum computation and an inelastic atomic collision. By means of a simple two-state model, several quantum gates are reproduced, concluding the possibility of diabatic universal faulttolerant quantum computation. Going a step further, a new quantum diabatic computation model is glimpsed, where a carefully chosen Hamiltonian could carry out a non-adiabatic transition between the initial and the sought final state

The present article tries to demonstrate the presence of elements conforming nursing prototype in Traditional Tales such as Little Red Riding Hood, which will allow a better understanding of the new nursing care within the etnonarrative paradigm. For that purpose, different defining elements will be explained, such as similarities with informal care (family support network as in the case of Little Red Riding Hood), and daily life historic literary Nursing Care will be described, as well as the adaptation of work to diverse Nursing Models such as those of Dorotea Orem, Virginia Henderson and Ernestina Wiedenbach

Science for caring, research to achieve a successful quality of life in aging

Caring in general is not a simple task not a fragmentary concept but a need to coordinate various factors, in fact it is an holistic concept. For the elderly is paramount humanization and modern techniques are combined. Helping to reach aging successfully with a good quality of life means not only coping with elderly health needs but meeting the individual’s best condition in his/her environment, bearing in mind his/her selfesteem, aims and targets are fulfilled. Those human conditions that make their life happy

Alteration by EGTA of the human red cell Ca2+-ATPase

AbstractThe effect of EGTA on Ca2+-ATPase activity was studied in fragmented membranes and solubilized preparations from human red cells. A dual action was found. At low concentrations (0.1–1 mM), EGTA increased Ca2+ affinity without affecting Vmax. By contrast, high concentrations (5–10 mM), EGTA was inhibitory. Both effects were partially reversible
