    Crowdsourcing Strategy of Information Society

    Get PDF
In the modern information society, it has become possible to develop new business models that utilize ICT (information and communication technology) in various industrial fields, industries, and business sizes and types. Crowdsourcing is attracting attention as a new business model in this society. In crowdsourcing, business persons are using Internet websites (crowdsourcing platforms) to generate orders for new business activities, such as “order work to an individual” and “require job orders”. In addition, through the utilization of crowdsourcing, the lifestyle of workers is also changing with the provision of new job opportunities. In other words, crowdsourcing offers a new working style to a wide range of people. Thus, the spread of crowdsourcing has created new options for how individuals work and live. In the modern information society, crowdsourcing is a new business model that links a business person (orderer) and a worker (contractor) through a website. In this paper, we outline this new business model for the information society, and discuss the current situation of crowdsourcing, which looks to further influence lifestyle changes in the future. We propose a new business model using ICT, and consider the current situation and potentialities of crowdsourcing, which has elements that may result in major changes in the nature of employment in the future

Promotion of Smart Community Strategy in Vietnam’s Binh Duong Province

Vietnam’s Binh Duong Province is located in southeastern Vietnam, immediately to the north of Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC). The province constitutes the southern economic zone of Vietnam, and many Japanese companies—mainly manufacturing enterprises, including small and medium enterprises—are investing there. Becamex IDC Corp (a Vietnamese state-owned developer) and Tokyu Corporation (a Japanese company) established Becamex Tokyu, a joint venture company, in March 2012. As a smart community strategy, Becamex Tokyu is promoting Tokyu Binh Duong Garden City, which is a development plan integrating new urban development. The Becamex Tokyu Bus, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Becamex Tokyu, operates the new transportation system KAZE Shuttle. In addition, Binh Duong Province has developed a smart community strategy centered on energy establishment in urban development, information and communications technology infrastructure development and utilization, the elimination of physical waste in infrastructure construction, and smart traffic. In this chapter, by using his field work as a basis, the author examines the current status of, and issues faced by, development of the smart community strategy in Binh Duong Province in Vietnam

A Text Selection Technique using Word Snapping

    Get PDF
Conventional copy-and-paste technique for touch screen devices utilizes region handles to specify text snippet. The region handles appear so as to select the initially tapped word, and the user controls the region handles. Most of the text-selection task is performed at the boundary of words, however, the minimum movement unit of the region handle is still a character. We propose a context- sensitive text-selection method for the tablet OSs. For the initial consideration, we investigated a word-snapping method that meant a word as a minimum movement unit. From our experiment, we confirmed that the word-snapping method can significantly reduce the text-selection time if the target text consists of one or two words, and no line breaks exist.KES-2014 18th International Conference on Knowledge-Based and Intelligent Information & Engineering Systems, September 15-17, 2014, Gdynia, Polan

Summer mid-day-night composition and abundance of zooplankton from Lake Ikeda, Japan

Variations between midday and midnight in the species composition and abundance of the main zooplankton assemblage of Lake Ikeda, a crater-lake were analyzed during the summer of 1986. The protozoans, comprising more than 70% of the whole zooplankton population were the most abundant followed l7y the rotifers (12%), eopepods (8 %) and cladocerans (7 %). Except for the copepods and a few rotifers, most of the other zooplankton were evident at a slightly higher abundance at night. Total zooplankton abundance was highest during early summer but decreased gradually until the end of summer. Species composition was highest in early summer, and persisted until the middle of summer but gradually decreased with rare occurrences of some species at the end of summer, where some species were either rarely sampled or entirely absent from the samples

In Vietnam, software and high-tech parks focusing on the IT (Infoumation Technology) service industry are now being newly constructed, or expanded on top of existing facilities. The software and high-tech parks in Vietnam represent the implementation of Vietnamese industrial cluster strategies, which have promoted various functions such as IT-related R&D(Research and Development)activities, product manufacturing and commercialization, business incubation, and human resources and career development. Based on my field surveys, this article discusses the present conditions and challenges of the industrial cluster strategies in Ho Chi M nh City in Vietnam, by examining two specific cases of representative software parks specializing in software business
