Clinical and laboratory approaches to the study of the correction of the microbiota of the oral cavity

Background. Hypothyroidism is one of the most common forms of pathologies of the human endocrine system, which is caused by a persistent deficiency of thyroid hormones or a decrease in their biological effect at the tissue level. The prevalence of hypothyroidism in the general population reaches 3.7%. [17,38,75]with a deficiency of thyroid hormones in the body, inhibition of all types of metabolism, a decrease in oxidative and energy cellular reactions are observed, an effect on the state of the immune response and the composition of the microbiota of the body is noted. Hypothyroidism affects the occurrence, prevalence and course of dental diseases. The problems of using probiotics to correct the microbial landscape in the oral cavity are considered. Objectives- to analyze the data of modern literature on the possibility of correcting the microbiota of the oral cavity with probiotics in patients with hypothyroidism. Metodology. A review of publications of domestic and foreign studies using scientific search library databases: PubMed, Cochrane, Elibrary, Medline. Results. The review examined and analyzed the results of clinical and experimental studies on the prevalence of hypothyroidism in the population, the features of the course of dental diseases and the study of changes in the microbiota in the oral cavity during hypothyroidism. Issues that reveal the experience of using probiotics in the complex treatment of diseases of the oral cavity are considered.Conclusions. The results of modern research on the effectiveness of using probiotics in the complex treatment of dental diseases against hypothyroidism are mixed and require in-depth studyПредмет. Гипотиреоз является одной из самых распространенных форм патологий эндокринной системы человека, которая вызвана стойким дефицитом тиреоидных гормонов или снижением их биологического эффекта на тканевом уровне. Распространенность гипотиреоза в общей популяции достигает 3,7% [17,38,75]. При дефиците тиреоидных гормонов в организме наблюдаются торможение всех видов обмена веществ, снижение окислительных и энергетических клеточных реакций, отмечается влияние на состояние иммунного ответа и состав микробиоты организма. Гипотиреоз влияет на возникновение, распространенность и течение стоматологических заболеваний. Рассмотрены вопросы применения пробиотиков с целью коррекции микробного пейзажа в полости рта. Цель - проанализировать данные современных литературных источников о возможности коррекции микробиоты полости рта пробиотиками у пациентов с гипотиреозом. Методология. Проведен обзор публикаций отечественных и зарубежных исследований с использованием научных поисковых библиотечных баз данных: PubMed, Cochrane, Elibrary, Medline. Результаты. В обзоре изучены и проанализированы результаты клинических и экспериментальных исследований посвященных распространенности гипотиреоза в популяции, особенности течения стоматологических заболеваний и изучению изменений микробиоты в полости рта при гипотиреозе. Рассмотрены вопросы, раскрывающие опыт использования пробиотиков в комплексном лечении заболеваний полости рта. Выводы. Результаты современных исследований об эффективности использования пробиотиков в комплексном лечении стоматологических заболеваний на фоне гипотиреоза неоднозначны и требуют углубленного изучени

Biomimetic sol-gel mineralization of polysaccharides by silicon and titanium polyolates

In this work, we have demonstrated that in addition to silicon tetraglycerolate, a new water-soluble biocompatible polyolate precursors – silicon tetrapolyethylene glycolate Si[O(CH2CH2O)nH]4 [5, 6] and titanium tetrapolyethylene glycolate Ti[O(CH2CH2O)nH]4 [5] – can be successfully utilized in biomimetical mineralization of polysaccharides of various nature. By the example of chitosan (cationic), xanthan gum (anionic), and hydroxyethyl cellulose (uncharged) polysaccharides, an accelerating effect has been demonstrated on the gelation process and a stabilizing effect has been revealed on the hydrogels formed as transparent monoliths showing resistance to syneresis. Thus formed silicon- and titanium-containing 3D-network of gels is found to be polymeric and appears to have ordered amorphous morphostructure, which can be explained as caused by the influence from the polysaccharides serving as templates. The presence of polyolate bridges between silicon or titanium atoms in the polymeric network is characteristic of polyolate precursors only and is determined mainly by the nature of the precursor and by the contents of polyol and water in the system. The formation of polyolate bridges is facilitated by the low reactivity of the precursor, by low water content, and also by polyol excess in the system. The sol-gel process utilized to obtain the silicon- and titanium-polysaccharide-containing hydrogels proceeds under the mild conditions at room temperature, with no catalyst or any organic solved to be used, and thus can be regarded as belonging to the green chemistry methods that show promise for biomedical materials applications.This work was carried out in the framework of the Russian State Assignment (theme № АААА-А19-119011790134-1)
