Average±SE changes in physiological variables between the 15th and 23rd day of the experiment among the LPS-injected (‘LPS +’) and saline-injected (‘LPS −’) greenfinches.
<p>Filled symbols represent birds not exposed to a predator image, open symbols represent birds exposed to a predator image. Numbers indicate sample sizes for respective treatment groups.</p
Average±SE changes in coccidian oocyst load in greenfinch faecal samples between the pre-treatment and post-treatment period, protein carbonyls on the 15th day of the experiment, BA antibody titre and corticosterone content of feathers grown during the experiment.
<p>Legend as in <a href="http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0067545#pone-0067545-g003" target="_blank">Fig. 3</a>.</p
Effects of LPS and predator image exposure (FEAR) treatments on changes (or final values) of physiological parameters of captive greenfinches between the 15th and 23rd day of experiment.
<p>For DNA damage and carbonylated proteins, only final values measured on day 23 of the experiment are analysed with ANOVAs. For the <i>B. arbortus</i> antibody titres, values measured on day 31 are analysed with ANOVA. For the rest of variables, pre- vs post-treatment values are analysed in repeated measures ANOVA-s with TIME as a repeated measure (pre- vs post-treatment chage). For repeated measures models, only significant effects (if present) are given. Full repeated measures models are presented in <a href="http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0067545#pone.0067545.s003" target="_blank">Table S3</a>.</p
