The environmental function of vegetation provides a comfortable living conditions for people in the city. Green plantations affect the gas composition of air and the degree of its pollution, form the climatic characteristics of urban development, reduce the influence of the noise factor, have phytoncide properties, form a comfortable environment for human habitation

The influence of national culture on business students\u27 career attitudes - An analysis of eight countries | Der einfluss nationaler kulturen auf die karriere-einstellungen von wirtschaftsstudenten - Eine analyse aus acht landern

Despite the fact that career attitudes and their influence on career outcomes is widely researched in the field of occupations and careers, little is known about the influence of cultural norms and values on career attitudes. We propose that national cultural dimensions influence students\u27 career planning, career adaptability, career optimism, and career-related knowledge. We test these relations using an eight country sample with more than 1,800 students. The results show that national culture has significant effect on all four career attitudes and in particular on career planning and career optimism. We discuss theoretical and practical implications and provide future research directions

Hemi-methylated oriC DNA binding activity found in non-specific acid phosphatase.

International audienceThe lacZ-hobH fusion clone, containing an Escherichia coli DNA segment located at 92 min on the chromosomal map, was screened as a producer of E. coli oriC hemi-methylated binding activity. We have purified the protein encoded by this locus to near homogeneity. The protein corresponds to the monomeric form of a non-specific acid phosphatase (NAP) whose gene has been designated aphA. oriC DNA footprinting experiments showed protection of hemi-methylated probe by partially purified NAP, but not by purified preparations. Yet, gel retardation experiments with an oriC oligonucleotide demonstrated DNA binding activity of purified NAP in the presence of Mg2+. This experiment also showed an increased affinity of the protein for the hemi-methylated probe compared with the fully or unmethylated form. Indirect immunofluorescene microscopy revealed the existence of discrete NAP foci at mid-cell in cells with two nucleoids, but at cell poles in those with one nucleoid

    A cross-cultural investigation of students\u27 career planning

Students’ career planning is of great concern for international human resource management. While a lot of research has been done to determine the antecedents of student’s career decisiveness, little is known about the influence of cultural norms and values on career planning. We propose that national culture has an indirect influence on students’ career planning through career adaptability, career optimism and career-related knowledge. Using an eight-country sample of more than 1,800 university students, our findings show that the influence of masculinity, uncertainty avoidance, and long-term orientation on career planning is mediated by career knowledge and career optimism, while the influence of power distance and individualism are partially mediated by these two variables. The theoretical and managerial implications of our study’s findings are discussed

Magnetic sensitivity of a dispersion of aggregated ferromagnetic carbon nanotubes in liquid crystals

    No full text
Using carbon nanotubes filled with alpha-Fe, we have shown that aggregated ferronematic colloids demonstrate reliable and very effective response to a weak (<5 mT) magnetic field. The magnetic field realigns the aggregates of the particles which results in a non-threshold reorientation of the LC nearby, leading to the optically observed director distortions. The distortion regions expand with the increase of the magnetic field and achieve maximum size of several micrometres, comparable with the size of the agglomerates. In the non-distorted regions the reorientation of the director begins at the magnetic field reaching the Freedericksz transition value. Taking into account the extreme sensitivity of aggregated ferronematics to magnetic field, the following experimental and theoretical studies of the individual response of the aggregated nanoparticles to magnetic field may became the topical task of the physics and applications of ferronematics
