Emerging of new technologies skills are fundamentally changing how urban planners think, analyses and determine development decision. Application of mobile technologies and increase of public awareness are new challenges that affect traditional planning procedures and design process, resulting widening knowledge and skills gaps between town planning graduates and demand by the industry. This poses questions on the graduates’ capability to meet the job market demands especially on handling town planning related tasks. Therefore, this research endeavours to determine current knowledge and skill demands among planning agencies by using quantitative research approach as main research strategy. Findings of the study suggest Spatial Information System, Online Mapping, Crowd Sourcing technology along with instilling collaborative and multidisciplinary soft skills, in the new syllabus are considered vital.  Thus the implementation of a revised syllabus which take into consideration both knowledge and skills components, would surely offers well equip market ready town planning&nbsp

Transit-Oriented Developments (TOD) which promotes high density and mixed-use development around transit centres may affect the success of mass rapid transit. This paper analyses the correlation between land use, economic activities around the stations, and the number of riders using the LRT Kelana Jaya Line in Subang Jaya, Malaysia as the case study. It compares the ridership data with Land Use Public Transport Accessibility Index (LUPTAI) for selected stations. This study finds that there is a positive correlation between the LUPTAI and the ridership numbers, suggesting that land use developments around the stations do affect the ridership.    Keywords: Transit-oriented development; land use; ridership.    eISSN: 2398-4287© 2020. The population expansion with resulting land use competition could result in land scarcity and the need for development. In addition, most world cities are starting to lose agricultural land. As a result, the sustainability of the environment in agricultural land use is crucial for sustaining quality of life. Therefore, this study aimed to identify literature issues by scoping review. This study guides land authorities and urban planners in providing knowledge to facilitate informed decisions to achieve the highest and best use of land. eISSN: 2398-4287 © 2022. The Authors. By the year of 2020, Malaysia is expected to received 36 million of tourist that receipts RM168 billion to the country revenue. Through sport tourism, Malaysia has mobilized various international level sport events such as SEA Games 2017, Formula One and Moto GP to achieve the number. Despite the significant volumes of the market, preliminary findings are suggesting, hospitality planning in Malaysia has little concerns on the importance of space configuration and distribution to satisfy sport tourist needs. This paper is seeking to understand types of sport tourists, ideal space configurations and distribution in hospitality space planning to support sport tourism, subsequently, assess space configuration and distribution in hospitality premises in Malaysia. Using case study as the key method, the core focus of the study to: “Identify the type of sport tourists”, “Determine spatial configuration and distribution of spaces required based on sport tourist needs” and “Determine how does space of Malaysia hospitality industry compared to some established sport facilities”. Selection of case studies are carefully made considering criteria of hospitality facilities with similar spatial characteristics but vary in locality context. The study yielded better understanding on space and people interaction in the context of sport facilities, which the central to achieving an ideal spatial environment for sport tourism industry. Findings of the study suggesting space configuration and distribution for hospitality facilities in the selected case study in Malaysia are merely a resort rather a sport resort with strong traditional architecture image, thus, have great potential to become a prominent hospitality facilities based on sport tourism

Background & aimsInternational guidance advocates the avoidance of prolonged preoperative fasting due to its negative impact on perioperative hydration. This study aimed to assess the adherence to these guidelines for fasting in patients undergoing elective and emergency surgery in the East Midlands region of the UK.MethodsThis prospective audit was performed over a two-month period at five National Health Service (NHS) Trusts across the East Midlands region of the UK. Demographic data, admission and operative details, and length of preoperative fasting were collected on adult patients listed for emergency and elective surgery.ResultsOf the 343 surgical patients included within the study, 50% (n = 172) were male, 78% (n = 266) had elective surgery and 22% (n = 77) underwent emergency surgery. Overall median fasting times (Q1, Q3) were 16.1 (13.0, 19.4) hours for food and 5.8 (3.5, 10.7) hours for clear fluids. Prolonged fasting >12 h was documented in 73% (n = 250) for food, and 21% (n = 71) for clear fluids. Median fasting times from clear fluids and food were longer in the those undergoing emergency surgery when compared with those undergoing elective surgery: 13.0 (6.4, 22.6) vs. 4.9 (3.3, 7.8) hours, and 22.0 (14.0, 37.4) vs. 15.6 (12.9, 17.8) hours respectively, p < 0.0001.ConclusionsDespite international consensus on the duration of preoperative fasting, patients continue to fast from clear fluids and food for prolonged lengths of time. Patients admitted for emergency surgery were more likely to fast for longer than those having elective surgery
