    SMART ATTENDENCE MONITERING SYSTEM

    Get PDF
Attendance management has been a great challenge over the years . Ranging from university to polytechnics, colleges of educations and secondary schools, quality attendance management has been a freak. Manual authentication of attendance of logbooks has become an arduous task and this is also time-consuming. The academic attendance policy has generated a lot of questions at various quarters. All academic institutions have certain criteria for students regarding their attendance in class and examinations. The importance of student attendance in class cannot be over emphasized, as a result of this, administrators and lecturers of various academic institutions are concerned with the attendance irregularities. In the process of admitting students into an examination hall, 70% of attendance must be met and also considered for grade computation, therefore there is a huge need for monitoring and recording students' attendance. This brings about the need to have a tool to control students' attendance. The existing model of manual attendance monitoring (using paper sheets and an old file system) is not efficient and it is also time consuming. These aforementioned shortcomings among others serve as justification for migrating from manual based to the proposed system. The system is based on barcode reader technology and the details of this system are presented in this paper. The system can be easily accessed by the lecturers and most importantly, the reports can be generated in real-time processing, thus, providing valuable information about the students

Air pollution is a major health hazard affecting the developing and developed countries alike. The effect of air pollution on health is complex and their individual impact varies from one to another. It is not only the ambient air quality in the cities but also the indoor air quality in the rural and urban area that are causing concern. In fact, in the developing world the highest air pollution explosion occurs in indoor environment. The main objective of our project is to reduce the air pollution. We live in a world where everything is transported by the use of vehicles, so it is necessary to have knowledge about vehicle pollution. But before that let us talk about pollution. Pollution is the introduction of harmful materials into the environment. These harmful materials are called pollutants. Similarly, vehicle pollution is the introduction of harmful pollutants into the environment by motor vehicles. To overcome this, we present a solution which prevents pollutants in the air

Effect of metformin on fibrinolysis in type 2 diabetes mellitus: an explorative study

    Get PDF
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is associated with a high incidence of vascular disease which can cause significant morbidity and mortality. The risk of cardiovascular mortality in T2DM patients is observed to be more compared to the age-matched subjects. This is attributed to depression of the fibrinolytic system which maintains patency of blood vessels. Endogenous inhibitors such as plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) inhibit the activation of plasminogen and thus prevent the degradation of fibrinogen. In T2DM there is increased levels of PAI-1. Such a state of altered fibrinolysis is attributed to insulin resistance. A previous study done at our institute demonstrated higher euglobulin lysis time (ELT) in T2DM patients than controls, suggesting altered fibrinolytic activity in the former group. D-dimer is a degradation product of fibrin. Its presence indicates a state of hypercoagulability.  In a study by Nwose et al rise in D-dimer levels were observed in diabetics, especially with cardiovascular complications as compared to controls indicating D-dimer could be a useful marker for predicting the complications in T2DM

    WOMEN SAFETY DEVICE

Women safety has always been an issue even in these modern times with so much advancement in technology. Women are not safe anywhere and are most vulnerable when travelling alone into lonely roads and deserted places. Existing hand held safety devices for women have many disadvantages as they require a software application to be connected with and also should be connected with Bluetooth . So to overcome these disadvantages we propose a solution which will try to overcome the disadvantages of the existing systems and also aim at providing true proof safety to women. The proposed work aims at designing an IoT based safety device that relies on providing security to women by connecting GPS and GSM to locate place and alert message is send to registered numbers when a women is not safe. When there is unsafe situation women can press push button of the device which sends alert message with location automatically to the registered number

Fast Nearest Neighbour Search Aims At Optimizing Different Objective Functions Using Si- Index

    Get PDF
Several modern applications call for novel forms of queries that aspire to find objects pleasing both a spatial predicate and a predicate on their associated texts. The significance of spatial databases is reflected by the convenience of modelling entities of reality in a geometric manner. For instance locations of restaurants, hotels, hospitals and so on are often represented as points in a map at the same time as larger extents such as parks, lakes and landscapes often as a combination of rectangles. Many functionalities of a spatial database are useful in various ways in specific contexts. For case in point in a geography information system, range search can be deployed to find all restaurants in a certain area while nearest neighbour retrieval can discover the restaurant closest to a given address. We develop a new access method called the spatial inverted index that extends the conventional inverted index to cope with multidimensional data, and comes with algorithms that can answer nearest neighbour queries with keywords in real time

Enhanced Humidity Sensing Response in Eu3+-Doped Iron-Rich CuFe2O4: A Detailed Study of Structural, Microstructural, Sensing, and Dielectric Properties

The CuFe(2−x)EuxO4 (where x = 0.00, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03) nanoparticles are synthesized by solution combustion method. The influence of Eu3+ on the structural, morphological, dielectrical, and humidity sensing study is recorded. The XRD pattern peaks of the as-prepared CuFe(2−x)EuxO4 (where x = 0.00, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03) nanoparticle confirm the polycrystalline spinel cubic structure with a small amount of CuO impurity phase at 38.87° and 48.96°. Surface morphology of the samples was studied by scanning electron microscope (SEM) images of the nanoparticles, and their respective average grain size was estimated using Image software. Chemical composition of all prepared samples was analyzed by EDS spectra. The dielectric parameters of AC conductivity, electric modulus, and impedance of the samples were measured over a range of frequencies from 0.1 KHz to 1 MHz at room temperature. Europium-doped copper ferrite samples showed good humidity sensing response, response and recover times, and stability over a %RH range of 11–91%. These types of samples are very useful for sensor application, battery applications, electronic applications, and automotive applications

    Get PDF
Topology optimization is a relatively new and emerging area of research in the field ofstructural engineering. The idea is to determine the optimum distribution of material in thegiven design domain and not to focus on shape or correcting the dimensions of initialdesigns. Metaheuristics are widely used in the field of optimization of continuum structures.Firefly algorithm proposed by Xin-She Yang is considered as one of the best performingalgorithms which require fewer iterations to converge. This paper is a series of ongoingresearch work in structural optimization using firefly algorithm. The focus of this paper is tooptimize a two point load case problem one of the complex in the field of optimizationinvolving several degrees of freedom. An attempt has been made to verify the distribution ofmaterial and the convergence of the firefly algorithm. The analysis shows that the algorithmis very effective to determine the distribution of material and the final distribution is a nearapproximation of the theoretical distribution
