π\pi-J/ψJ/\psi Correlation and Elliptic Flow Parameter v2v_2 of Charmed Mesons at RHIC Energy

We study the correlation between the trigger π\pi and the associated J/ψJ/\psi on near and away sides in Au+Au collisions at sNN=200\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200 GeV. In the region of trigger momentum pt>4p_t>4 GeV/cc, the π\pi spectrum is composed of thermal-shower and shower-shower recombinations in the frame work of the recombination model. We consider the azimuthal anisotropy in the quenched hard parton distribution and then calculate the elliptic flow parameter v2v_2 of charmed mesons (J/ψJ/\psi, D0D^0 and DsD_s) for different centralities.Comment: 17 pages, 6 figure

Similarity-Aware Spectral Sparsification by Edge Filtering

In recent years, spectral graph sparsification techniques that can compute ultra-sparse graph proxies have been extensively studied for accelerating various numerical and graph-related applications. Prior nearly-linear-time spectral sparsification methods first extract low-stretch spanning tree from the original graph to form the backbone of the sparsifier, and then recover small portions of spectrally-critical off-tree edges to the spanning tree to significantly improve the approximation quality. However, it is not clear how many off-tree edges should be recovered for achieving a desired spectral similarity level within the sparsifier. Motivated by recent graph signal processing techniques, this paper proposes a similarity-aware spectral graph sparsification framework that leverages efficient spectral off-tree edge embedding and filtering schemes to construct spectral sparsifiers with guaranteed spectral similarity (relative condition number) level. An iterative graph densification scheme is introduced to facilitate efficient and effective filtering of off-tree edges for highly ill-conditioned problems. The proposed method has been validated using various kinds of graphs obtained from public domain sparse matrix collections relevant to VLSI CAD, finite element analysis, as well as social and data networks frequently studied in many machine learning and data mining applications

Simultaneous Determination of the Cosmic Ray Ionization Rate and Fractional Ionization in DR21(OH)

We present a new method for the simultaneous calculation of the cosmic ray ionization rate, zeta(H2), and the ionization fraction, chi(e), in dense molecular clouds. A simple network of chemical reactions dominant in the creation and destruction of HCNH+ and HCO+ is used in conjunction with observed pairs of rotational transitions of several molecular species in order to determine the electron abundance and the H3+ abundance. The cosmic ray ionization rate is then calculated by taking advantage of the fact that, in dark clouds, it governs the rate of creation of H3+. We apply this technique to the case of the star-forming region DR21(OH), where we successfully detected the (J=3-2) and (J=4-3) rotational transitions of HCNH+. We also determine the C and O isotopic ratios in this source to be 12C/13C=63+-4 and 16O/18O=318+-64, which are in good agreement with previous measurements in other clouds. The significance of our method lies in the ability to determine N(H3+) and chi(e) directly from observations, and estimate zeta(H2) accordingly. Our results, zeta(H2)=3.1x10^(-18) 1/s and chi(e)=3.2x10^(-8), are consistent with recent determinations in other objects.Comment: 22 pages, including 3 figure

Families of weighted sum formulas for multiple zeta values

    Get PDF
Euler's sum formula and its multi-variable and weighted generalizations form a large class of the identities of multiple zeta values. In this paper we prove a family of identities involving Bernoulli numbers and apply them to obtain infinitely many weighted sum formulas for double zeta values and triple zeta values where the weight coefficients are given by symmetric polynomials. We give a general conjecture in arbitrary depth at the end of the paper.Comment: The conjecture at the end is reformulate

Active role of elongation factor G in maintaining the mRNA reading frame during translation.

    Get PDF
During translation, the ribosome moves along the mRNA one codon at a time with the help of elongation factor G (EF-G). Spontaneous changes in the translational reading frame are extremely rare, yet how the precise triplet-wise step is maintained is not clear. Here, we show that the ribosome is prone to spontaneous frameshifting on mRNA slippery sequences, whereas EF-G restricts frameshifting. EF-G helps to maintain the mRNA reading frame by guiding the A-site transfer RNA during translocation due to specific interactions with the tip of EF-G domain 4. Furthermore, EF-G accelerates ribosome rearrangements that restore the ribosome's control over the codon-anticodon interaction at the end of the movement. Our data explain how the mRNA reading frame is maintained during translation

Relativistic Hydrodynamic Flows Using Spatial and Temporal Adaptive Structured Mesh Refinement

Astrophysical relativistic flow problems require high resolution three-dimensional numerical simulations. In this paper, we describe a new parallel three-dimensional code for simulations of special relativistic hydrodynamics (SRHD) using both spatially and temporally structured adaptive mesh refinement (AMR). We used the method of lines to discretize the SRHD equations spatially and a total variation diminishing (TVD) Runge-Kutta scheme for time integration. For spatial reconstruction, we have implemented piecewise linear method (PLM), piecewise parabolic method (PPM), third order convex essentially non-oscillatory (CENO) and third and fifth order weighted essentially non-oscillatory (WENO) schemes. Flux is computed using either direct flux reconstruction or approximate Riemann solvers including HLL, modified Marquina flux, local Lax-Friedrichs flux formulas and HLLC. The AMR part of the code is built on top of the cosmological Eulerian AMR code {\sl enzo}. We discuss the coupling of the AMR framework with the relativistic solvers. Via various test problems, we emphasize the importance of resolution studies in relativistic flow simulations because extremely high resolution is required especially when shear flows are present in the problem. We also present the results of two 3d simulations of astrophysical jets: AGN jets and GRB jets. Resolution study of those two cases further highlights the need of high resolutions to calculate accurately relativistic flow problems.Comment: 14 pages, 23 figures. Correlation between incoherent phase fluctuations and disorder in Y1−x_{1-x}Prx_xBa2_2Cu3_3O7−δ_{7-\delta} epitaxial films from Nernst effect measurements

    Get PDF
Measurements of Nernst effect, resistivity and Hall angle on epitaxial films of Y1−x_{1-x}Prx_xBa2_2Cu3_3O7−δ_{7-\delta}(Pr-YBCO, 0≤x≤\leq x\leq0.4) are reported over a broad range of temperature and magnetic field. While the Hall and resistivity data suggest a broad pseudogap regime in accordance with earlier results, these first measurements of the Nernst effect on Pr-YBCO show a large signal above the superconducting transition temperature(Tc_c). This effect is attributed to vortex-like excitations in the phase incoherent condensate existing above Tc_c. A correlation between disorder and the width of the phase fluctuation regime has been established for the YBCO family of cuprates, which suggests a Tc≈_c\approx110K for disorder-free YBa2_2Cu3_3O7−δ_{7-\delta}.Comment: 5 pages, 6 figure
