    The Internet has transformed scholarly publishing and made the availability of online resources possible, both in subscription and open access models. Open access, has enabled wider access to the scholarly literature, thus reducing the digital divide among the haves and have-nots. In the case of journal articles, even though its ‘Gold’ (author pays model) and ‘Green’ access models have risen to the occasion, but some publishers of journals have turned its ‘Gold’ model to their advantage to earn a profit by charging fees for publication and adopting certain unethical practices of publishing.     Scholarly open access journals in Economics: a study of DOAJ

    The objective of this study is to report the quantitative analysis of open access (OA) journals in economics discipline covered in DOAJ. This article reports 287 economic journals indexed in DOAJ, which reveals the growth rate of journals in economics subject plunged to 87.11% since 2013, and 78.75% journals do not levy any APCs. Further, the results indicated cent percent peer-review process followed by all journals to ensure the quality and validity of its publications. About 97.96% journals publish their content under creative commons (CC) licensing models to enable access to scholarly content for educational use. Further, the study affirms quantitative analysis of various factors such as archiving policy, platforms, indexing in citation databases, SCImago journal rankings, country and language wise trends etc

    Impact of e-information literacy on information seeking behavior of university teachers

    The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of e-information literacy on information seeking behavior of university teachers in the state of Maharashtra. The findings of the study reveals that e-information literacy makes high impact on information seeking behavior of university teachers on the academic activities such as updating of knowledge, writing papers and books. Further, the study discloses that, teachers are able to evaluate information critically and can classify/compare the information after getting trained in the use of e-information resources. The paper concludes that e-information literacy facilitates the university teachers to make use of e-information effectively and independently

    176-181The study investigates the impact of e-information literacy on information seeking behavior of university teachers in the state of Maharashtra. Questionnaire method was used to collect data on information-seeking behavior of teachers. The study confirms that teachers are able to evaluate information critically and can classify/compare the information better after undergoing the e-information literacy programme. The paper concludes that e-information literacy empowers the university teachers to enhance e-information search skills effectively and independently for taking informed decisions
