First observation of alpha decay of 190-Pt to the first excited level (E_{exc}=137.2 keV) of 186-Os
The alpha decays of naturally occurring platinum isotopes, which are
accompanied by the emission of gamma quanta, have been searched for deep
underground (3600 m w.e.) in the Gran Sasso National Laboratories of the INFN
(Italy). A sample of Pt with mass of 42.5 g and a natural isotopic composition
has been measured with a low background HP Ge detector (468 cm^3) during 1815
h. The alpha decay of 190-Pt to the first excited level of 186-Os (J^\pi = 2^+,
E_{exc}=137.2 keV) has been observed for the first time, with the half-life
determined as: T_{1/2} = 2.6_{-0.3}^{+0.4} (stat.) \pm 0.6 (syst.) \times
10^{14} yr. The T_{1/2} limits for the alpha decays of other Pt isotopes have
been determined at level of T_{1/2} \simeq 10^{16}-10^{20} yr. These limits
have been set for the first time or they are better than those known from
earlier experiments.Comment: 12 pages, 3 figures, accepted for publication on Phys. Rev.
First Results from the AMoRE-Pilot neutrinoless double beta decay experiment
The Advanced Molybdenum-based Rare process Experiment (AMoRE) aims to search
for neutrinoless double beta decay (0) of Mo with
100 kg of Mo-enriched molybdenum embedded in cryogenic detectors
with a dual heat and light readout. At the current, pilot stage of the AMoRE
project we employ six calcium molybdate crystals with a total mass of 1.9 kg,
produced from Ca-depleted calcium and Mo-enriched molybdenum
(CaMoO). The simultaneous detection of
heat(phonon) and scintillation (photon) signals is realized with high
resolution metallic magnetic calorimeter sensors that operate at milli-Kelvin
temperatures. This stage of the project is carried out in the Yangyang
underground laboratory at a depth of 700 m. We report first results from the
AMoRE-Pilot search with a 111 kgd live exposure of
CaMoO crystals. No evidence for
decay of Mo is found, and a upper limit is set for the
half-life of 0 of Mo of y at 90% C.L.. This limit corresponds to an effective
Majorana neutrino mass limit in the range eV

Final results on the 0νββ decay half-life limit of Mo from the CUPID-Mo experiment
The CUPID-Mo experiment to search for 0νββ decay in Mo has been recently completed after about 1.5 years of operation at Laboratoire Souterrain de Modane (France). It served as a demonstrator for CUPID, a next generation 0νββ decay experiment. CUPID-Mo was comprised of 20 enriched LiMoO scintillating calorimeters, each with a mass of ∼0.2 kg, operated at ∼20 mK. We present here the final analysis with the full exposure of CUPID-Mo (Mo exposure of 1.47 kg×year) used to search for lepton number violation via 0νββ decay. We report on various analysis improvements since the previous result on a subset of data, reprocessing all data with these new techniques. We observe zero events in the region of interest and set a new limit on the Mo 0νββ decay half-life of T >1.8×10 year (stat. + syst.) at 90% CI. Under the light Majorana neutrino exchange mechanism this corresponds to an effective Majorana neutrino mass of ⟨m⟩ < (0.28−0.49) eV, dependent upon the nuclear matrix element utilized
Precise measurement of 2 νββ decay of 100 Mo with the CUPID-Mo detection technology
We report the measurement of the two-neutrino double-beta (2 νββ) decay of 100Mo to the ground state of 100Ru using lithium molybdate (Li2100MoO4) scintillating bolometers. The detectors were developed for the CUPID-Mo program and operated at the EDELWEISS-III low background facility in the Modane underground laboratory (France). From a total exposure of 42.235 kg× day, the half-life of 100Mo is determined to be T1/22ν=[7.12-0.14+0.18(stat.)±0.10(syst.)]×1018 years. This is the most accurate determination of the 2 νββ half-life of 100Mo to date
