Sustaining a cordial relationship among married couples is a necessity for the marriage to fulfill its purpose. However, marriage anxiety often exerts force on married couples resulting in undesired behaviours. Evidences have shown that young married couples experience marriage anxiety which may lead to conflicts, separation, divorce, suicide and homicide. Previous studies had focused majorly on factors leading to marital anxiety with very few interventions to address the problem. This study, therefore, employed dyadic psychotherapy and self-monitoring strategy as interventions to reduce marriage anxiety among the participants. Ninety-four participants were selected in Ibadan Baptist Conference. Taylor Manifest Anxiety Scale ( 16r="> 0.89) was used as screening instrument while the main instrument for post test was Hamilton Anxiety Scale ( 16r="> 0.86). The experiment lasted eight weeks. Seven null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) and Scheffee post hoc test were used as tools of Analysis. The results show that there was a significant main effect of treatment on marriage anxiety (F2.83=60.292; P<0.05, ?2=0.592). Dyadic psychotherapy and self-monitoring strategy were effective in reducing marriage anxiety. Thus, this paper recommended the effective management of marriage anxiety, the strategy involved as well as skills to reduce the marriage anxiety for married couples and professionals in the field of counselling to note in order to effectively treat marital anxiety among couples

A panel of 32 reviewers analyzed the Local Control and Accountability Plans (LCAPs) of same sample of 29 districts for the second year of implementation of the 2013 California Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF). Using the same four questions as the Year 1 report, the Year 2 analysis also addresses the key differences between first and second-year LCAPs. Key findings from the Year 2 LCAPs review include: (1) similarly weak responses to the needs of ELs by LEAs in Year 2; (2) some improvement in clarity about services provided to ELs in some areas, though most evidence was weak; (3) minimal attention to the new English Language Development Standards; (4) minimal investment in teacher capacity building to address EL needs; (5) lack of attention to coherent programs, services and supports for ELs and failure to address issues of program and curriculum access; (6) weak engagement of ELs’ parents in LCAP process and content of LCAP plans; (7) poor employment of EL data to inform LCAP goals and weak use of EL indicators as an LCAP accountability component; (8) lack of specificity in describing district services and site allocations for supplemental and concentration funding; and (9) difficulty identifying the coherence of responses of EL needs in year 2 LCAPs. Overall, the analysis of the 29 LCAPs continue to signal a weak response to EL needs. The authors reassert the urgency of the recommendations in the Year 1 report, offer additional specific recommendations for the state, county offices of education, and districts, and call upon the state to reaffirm the equity commitment in the LCFF design.https://digitalcommons.lmu.edu/ceelreports/1004/thumbnail.jp

Get PDF
Abstract While a growing body of literature has touted e-participation as a means of facilitating greater citizen participation in policy decision-making processes, little is known about the driving forces of active citizen e-participation. Active e-participation is defined as the extent to which citizens make inputs via e-participation programs. Based on a literature review of social capital and citizen participation, the study develops a model of active e-participation and tests it in the context of local governance. Three dimensions of social capital -trust in government, strength of social ties, and volunteering activitiesare classified to explore the association of individual social capital and active e-participation. The model addresses that three dimensions of citizen participation management -fairness, access to information, and government responsiveness -are positively associated with active e-participation. To test several hypotheses, the study uses the 2009 E-Participation Survey data collected from 1,076 participants of the Cheon Man Sang Sang Oasis, which is an e-participation program administered by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in South Korea since 2006. Using ordered logistic regression analysis, the study found that citizens' trust in government and their volunteer experiences are positively related to active e-participation. The results demonstrate that citizens embedded in weak offline social ties are likely to use e-participation actively. The study also found that citizens' perception of quality responsiveness during the e-participation process is positively related to active e-participation. Based on the study's findings, the paper discusses the managerial and policy implications for fostering citizens' eparticipation through effective e-participation programs in the context of local governance
