Description of a new species of Toumeyella Cockerell (Hemiptera, Coccidae) from Mexico, with a taxonomic key to mexican species
A new species of soft scale insect from Mexico, Toumeyella fontanai Kondo & Pellizzari sp. nov. is des-cribed and illustrated. A taxonomic key to the species of scale insects of the genus Toumeyella Cockerell known in Mexico is provided. Aspidiotus bornmuelleri Lindinger, 1911, rev. comb. (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha: Diaspididae), a neglected endemic species from Macaronesia, with comments on the genus Cryptophyllaspis, and further notes on the scale insect fauna of Canary Islands, Spain
Cryptophyllaspis bornmuelleri (Lindinger) (Hemiptera: Diaspididae), an endemic plant-galling species from the Canary Islands, has been recollected in Tenerife. The galls induced by this species on Globularia salicina leaves and the diaspidid adult female are redescribed and illustrated. Detailed study of the species has resulted in the combination Aspidiotus bornmuelleri Lindinger being revived, with C. bornmuelleri sunk as a junior synonym. Its taxonomic history, and comments on the genus Cryptophyllaspis and the other species pertaining to it, are reported. Further data on the scale insect fauna of Canary Islands are also presented
Two new species of scale insects (Hemiptera, Coccoidea) from Sardinia (Italy) with a check list of Sardinian Coccoidea
Two new species of scale insects collected in Sardinia (Italy) are described and illustrated: Spinococcus giuliae sp. n. (Pseudococcidae) off the roots of Umbilicus rupestris (Crassulaceae) and Micrococcus sardous sp. n. (Micrococcidae) off the root of an undetermined grass (Poaceae) growing near the sea. A n identification key to Micrococcus species and a revised list of the scales presently known in the island are also provided
First record and establishment of Chionaspis wistariae Cooley (Hemiptera, Diaspididae) in Europe
The occurrence of the A siatic Diaspidid Chionaspis wistariae Cooley in E urope is reported. The scale was collected on the leaves of an old Wisteria tree growing outdoors in the University Botanical Garden of Cluj Napoca (Romania)
A new species of Greenisca and two new species of Ovaticoccus from Italy (Hemiptera Coccoidea Eriococcidae), with a key to European genera of Eriococcidae.
Three new eriococcid species from Italy are described and illustrated, namely Greenisca oreophila sp. n. off Poaceae, and Ovaticoccus exoticus sp. n. and O. agavacearum sp. n., off Agavaceae. Their morphological relationships are discussed and keys to Greenisca and Ovaticoccus species are provided, together with a key to the Eriococcidae genera so far known in Europe. A check-list of Italian Eriococcids is added
