Maquiavelo, palimpsesto de Vico

La lectura de la obra de Vico, sobre todo en sus vertientes antropológica, histórica y política, le pareció siempre al autor de este ensayo algo sumamente original, moderna y fecunda. No obstante, ciertas resonancias conceptuales, e incluso metodológicas, le inducían a imaginar estar leyendo un palimpsesto de Maquiavelo, en el que se hubieran borrado los detalles más escabrosos, más rechazados, más problemáticos, para el contexto en el que Vico escribía, y se hubiera reescrito sobre el original, nuevos modos, nuevas maneras de decir lo que era necesario decir; y decir de nuevo. Leer a Maquiavelo en Vico, tratar de determinar la influencia habida del pensador florentino en el napolitano, sería un ejercicio, ante todo, palimpséstico. Por eso, cree el autor que la relación entre Vico y Maquiavelo hay que plantearla en los mismos términos que Croce proyecta la relación entre moral y política, caracterizándola como “un problema que quizás nunca pueda resolverse”.The author of this paper has always thought that the reading of Vico’s work, mostly in its anthropological, historical and political aspects, is a highly original, modern and fertile endeavour. However, certain conceptual and mostly methodological echoes induced him to imagine that, while reading Vico, he was facing a palimpsest of Machiavelli, where the more scabrous, repudiated and problematic features had been erased, in order to adequate it to the context where Vico was publishing, as if Vico had written over the original his new ways, attempting to say what had to be said, and to restate the same the again. Reading Machiavelli in Vico, trying to find out which was the influence of the Florentine thinker upon the Napolitan one, would be, above all, a palimpsestic exercise. For that reason, the author believes that the relationship between Vico and Machiavelli must be studied in the same terms that Croce applies to the relationship between moral and politics, characterizing it as “a problem that may never be resolved”

Un Vico multiforme, pluriversal, polifacético, es el Vico que el Autor plantea a partir de las propias lecturas de la obra del napolitano, de las interpretaciones de los muy distintos autores que han afrontado tanto al filósofo napolitano, como su obra, su vida, su figura. Un Vico dado también a través de la traducción, de la re-construcción de su propio pensar, tamizado por distintas tradiciones culturales, diferentes orientaciones hermenéuticas e historiográficas, diversas aproximaciones personales.A multiform, pluriversal, multifaceted Vico, is the one that the Author raises from his own readings of the work of the Neapolitan and from the interpretations of the very different authors who have confronted both the Neapolitan philosopher, his work, his life and his figure. Las “Vías simplísimas” de la Providencia. Vico y el “Principio de Simplicidad” en la Filosofía Cristiana entre los siglos XVII y XVIII

Este trabajo investiga si autores como Vico pueden adscribirse bajo categorías como la del “cristianismo ilustrado”, “catolicismo ilustrado”, más que de ilustración radical”, o “ilustración moderada”. A la vez, se pregunta si la adopción del principio de simplicidad en el campo teológico, especialmente en el frente católico, en autores como Malebranche y Vico, puede, y en su caso de qué manera, ser reconducida hacia un más amplio espectro de problemas, teniendo en el centro el nexo entre Iglesia y religión católica y modernidad. El autor se centra en la época en la cual puede ser localizado, con la debida cautela, un incipiente “cristianismo ilustrado”, y también ante todo católico, donde se busca la reconfiguración de la idea de una divinidad que dispone su presencia en conformidad con un principio de visible simplicidad.The aim of this paper is to ask whether autors such as Vico may be labelled as “enlightened christian” or “enlightened catholic”, rather than “radical enlightment” or “moderate enlightment”. At the same time, it is asked whether if the adoption of a principle of simplicity in the realm of theology, specially among catholics, in authors such as Malebranche and Vico, may be redirected towards a wider spectrum of problems, in the center of which is the nexux between the Church, the catholic religion and modernity. The author focusses on the time where, with due caution, an incipient “enlightened christinanism” may be found, and above all a catholic one, according to which a new reformulation of the idea of divinity is searched, which disposes its presence in conformity with a principle of visible simplicity

Croce y la teoría viquiana de la risa. Del "yo grave" al "yo melancólico"

En el mismo periodo en el que concluía la monumental monografía sobre Giambattista Vico (1911), Benedetto Croce afronta en un breve ensayo un tema viquiano, hasta entonces casi desconocido, la doctrina sobre la risa. Abordamos este tema de la teoría viquiana sobre la risa, en cuyo texto Vico realiza una serie de reflexiones que constituyen el fondo y el objeto del ensayo crociano.At the same time that he concluded his prominent monograph about Giambattista Vico (1911), Benedetto Croce confronted in a brief essay a Viquian topic, almost unknown until then, which is the doctrine of laugh.
