Semileptonic decay of BcB_c meson into ccˉc\bar c states in a QCD potential model

The slope and curvature of Isgur Wise function for BcB_{c} meson is computed in a QCD potential model in two different approaches of choosing the perturbative term of the Cornell potential. Based on heavy quark effective theory the exclusive semileptonic decay rates of BcB_c meson into the $c\bar c\ (\eta_c,J/\psi)statesareexploited.SpinsymmetrybreakingeffectsareignoreduptoaparticularpointandtheformfactorsareconnectedwithIsgurWisefunctionforotherkinematicpointsincetherecoilmomentumof states are exploited. Spin symmetry breaking effects are ignored upto a particular point and the form factors are connected with Isgur-Wise function for other kinematic point since the recoil momentum of c\bar cfrom from B_{c}$ is small due to its heavy mass.Comment: 13 pages, 4 tables, 4 figures,Accepted to Int.J.Mod.Phys.

Microprocessor-based single particle calibration of scintillation counter

    Get PDF
A microprocessor-base set-up is fabricated and tested for the single particle calibration of the plastic scintillator. The single particle response of the scintillator is digitized by an A/D converter, and a 8085 A based microprocessor stores the pulse heights. The digitized information is printed. Facilities for CRT display and cassette storing and recalling are also made available

Quantum random walk of two photons in separable and entangled state

We discuss quantum random walk of two photons using linear optical elements. We analyze the quantum random walk using photons in a variety of quantum states including entangled states. We find that for photons initially in separable Fock states, the final state is entangled. For polarization entangled photons produced by type II downconverter, we calculate the joint probability of detecting two photons at a given site. We show the remarkable dependence of the two photon detection probability on the quantum nature of the state. In order to understand the quantum random walk, we present exact analytical results for small number of steps like five. We present in details numerical results for a number of cases and supplement the numerical results with asymptotic analytical results

Analysis of the electromagnetic scattering from an inlet geometry with lossy walls

One of the primary goals is to develop an approximate but sufficiently accurate analysis for the problem of electromagnetic (EM) plane wave scattering by an open ended, perfectly-conducting, semi-infinite hollow circular waveguide (or duct) with a thin, uniform layer of lossy or absorbing material on its inner wall, and with a simple termination inside. The less difficult but useful problem of the EM scattering by a two-dimensional (2-D), semi-infinite parallel plate waveguide with an impedance boundary condition on the inner walls was chosen initially for analysis. The impedance boundary condition in this problem serves to model a thin layer of lossy dielectric/ferrite coating on the otherwise perfectly-conducting interior waveguide walls. An approximate but efficient and accurate ray solution was obtained recently. That solution is presently being extended to the case of a moderately thick dielectric/ferrite coating on the walls so as to be valid for situations where the impedance boundary condition may not remain sufficiently accurate

Charter Schools and the Road to College Readiness: The Effects on College Preparation, Attendance and Choice

The analysis here focuses on Boston's charter high schools. For the purpose of this report, an analysis of high schools is both a necessity and a virtue. It is necessary to study high schools because most students applying to charters in earlier grades are not yet old enough to generate data on postsecondary outcomes. Charter high schools are also of substantial policy interest: a growing body of research argues that high school may be too late for cost-effective human capital interventions. Indeed, impact analyses of interventions for urban youth have mostly generated disappointing results. This report is interested in ascertaining whether charter schools, which in Massachusetts are largely budget-neutral, can have a substantial impact on the life course of affected students. The set of schools studied here comes from an earlier investigation of the effects of charter attendance in Boston on test scores. The high schools from the earlier study, which enroll the bulk of charter high school students in Boston, generate statistically and socially significant gains on state assessments in the 10th grade. This report questions whether these gains are sustained

    Dynamics of interacting quintessence

In this paper, we investigate coupled quintessence with scaling potential assuming specific forms of the coupling as AA namely, αρm˙\alpha \dot{\rho_m}, βρϕ˙\beta \dot{\rho_{\phi}} and σ(ρm˙+ρϕ˙)\sigma (\dot{\rho_m}+\dot{\rho_{\phi}}), and present phase space analysis for three different interacting models. We focus on the attractor solutions that can give rise to late time acceleration with ΩDE/ΩDM\Omega_{DE}/\Omega_{DM} of order unity in order to alleviate the coincidence problem.Comment: 11 pages, 3 figures, matches with the published versio

Isgur-Wise function in a QCD potential model with coulombic potential as perturbation

We study heavy light mesons in a QCD inspired quark model with the Cornell potential4αS3r+br+c-\frac{4\alpha_{S}}{3r}+br+c. Here we consider the linear term brbr as the parent and 4αS3r+c-\frac{4\alpha_{S}}{3r}+c i.e.the Coloumbic part as the perturbation. The linear parent leads to Airy function as the unperturbed wavefunction. We then use the Dalgarno method of perturbation theory to obtain the total wavefunction corrected upto first order with Coulombic peice as the perturbation. With these wavefunctions, we study the Isgur-Wise function and calculate its slope and curvature.Comment: paper has been modified in Airy functions calculation upto o(r^3
