Fully double-logarithm-resummed cross sections
We calculate the complete double logarithmic contribution to cross sections
for semi-inclusive hadron production in the modified minimal-subtraction scheme
by applying dimensional regularization to the double logarithm approximation.
The full double logarithmic contribution to the coefficient functions for
inclusive hadron production in electron-positron annihilation is obtained in
this scheme for the first time. Our result agrees with all fixed order results
in the literature, which extend to next-next-to-leading order.Comment: To appear in Nuclear Physics
Modified margin convergence: over-under lacing suture technique
The principle of margin convergence can be applied to rotator cuff repair to enhance the security of fixation by decreasing the mechanical strain at the margins of the tear. We describe a suture technique, over-under lacing, that reproduces the same margin convergence, with equal tissue tension across the entire surface area of the cuff. A consecutive series of patients affected by massive U-shaped rotator cuff tears were treated by this repair technique. Preoperative diagnosis, tear assessment, and grading of fatty infiltration of the cuff muscles were based on arthro-computed tomography evaluation. The technique passes 2 sutures from the medial to lateral margin of the tear, with a knotless suture anchor for tendon-to-bone fixation. The proposed technique seems to reduce tensile strain on the repaired tendon, can reconstruct the rotator cuff cable, and can attain the balanced pull of the tendon in a medial-to-lateral fashion. The over-under lacing suture technique is both simple and reproducible. This technique may achieve the goals of margin convergence with satisfactory preliminary clinical results for patients with massive rotator cuff tears
Timelike Single-logarithm-resummed Splitting Functions
We calculate the single logarithmic contributions to the quark singlet and
gluon matrix of timelike splitting functions at all orders in the modified
minimal-subtraction (MSbar) scheme. We fix two of the degrees of freedom of
this matrix from the analogous results in the massive-gluon regularization
scheme by using the relation between that scheme and the MSbar scheme. We
determine this scheme transformation from the double logarithmic contributions
to the timelike splitting functions and the coefficient functions of inclusive
particle production in e+ e- annihilation now available in both schemes. The
remaining two degrees of freedom are fixed by reasonable physical assumptions.
The results agree with the fixed-order results at next-to-next-to-leading order
in the literature.Comment: Minor changes to the text, accepted for publication in Nucl. Phys.

Jurisdiction shopping and foreign location choice: The role of market and nonmarket experience in the European solar energy industry
Several countries provide policy support to specific sectors in order to facilitate industry transitions. While industry-support policies stimulate the growth of their target sectors, little is known about how such policies engender heterogeneous international strategies. In this article, we investigate how industry-support policies influence foreign location choices. We argue that firms engage in jurisdiction shopping, choosing to invest in countries with more generous policy support, but that this tendency varies markedly across firms. Specifically, we suggest that firms’ nonmarket experience exacerbates the effect of policy support on location choice, whereas market experience has less of an impact. Further, we propose that some firms view generous policies more skeptically than others, depending on the nature of their nonmarket experience. We test and find support for our predictions using a longitudinal dataset of foreign investments of firms entering the solar energy industry in the European Union. Our findings indicate that supportive policies stimulate the energy transition, attracting in particular foreign entrants diversifying into renewables or having more policy experience. At the same time, they suggest that adverse policy changes in one country affect how firms assess policies in other countries, highlighting the need for policy coordination at a supranational level
Behavior of the flux-flow resistivity in mesoscopic superconductors
In this work we solved the time dependent Ginzburg-Landau equations numerically finding profiles of the flux-flow resistivity for different widths of superconducting stripes. We found vortex pinning induced by the surface superconductivity. This pinning avoids the movement of the vortex lattice preventing the generation of a voltage. We also found the existence of a mesoscopic region where the flux-flow resistivity shows size effects and we observed a transition to a macroscopic regime as the width increases.Fil: Sánchez Lotero, P..
