Managing buyer experience in a buyer–supplier relationship in MSMEs and SMEs

    Get PDF
Monitoring buyer experience provides competitive advantages for suppliers as buyers explore the market before reaching a salesperson. Still, not many B2B suppliers monitor their buyers’ expectations throughout their procurement journey, especially in MSMEs and SMEs. In addition, the inductive research on evaluating buyer experience in buyer–supplier relationships is minimal, leaving an unexplored research area. This study explores antecedents of buyer experience during the buyer–supplier relationship in MSMEs and SMEs. Further, we investigate the nature of the influence of extracted precursors on the buyer experience. Firstly, we obtain the possible antecedents from the literature on buyer–supplier experience and supplier selection criteria. We also establish hypotheses based on transaction cost theory, resource-based view (RBV), and information processing view. Secondly, we employ an investigation based on the social media analytics-based approach to uncover the antecedents of buyer experience and their nature of influence on MSMEs and SME suppliers. We found that buyer experience is influenced by sustainable orientation, management capabilities (such as crisis management and process innovation), and suppliers’ technology capabilities (digital readiness, big data analytical capability)

Social commerce in emerging markets and its impact on online community engagement

YesThis study aims to build on the understanding of social commerce in the emerging markets and how it influences online community engagement. The conceptual model was proposed using theories including the social support theory, the trust theory, the social presence theory, the flow theory and the service-dominant logic theory. Using Facebook online community, the data were collected from 400 respondents from Jordan and analysed using AMOS based structural equation modelling. Results revealed that social commerce constructs positively influence social support, community members’ trust and social presence. Furthermore, it was found that social support and social presence positively affect community members’ trust. We also found that community members’ trust positively influence flow whereas both community members’ trust and flow positively influence community engagement

Adoption of Two Indian E-Government Systems: Validation of Extended Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB)

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study is to explore the adoption of two electronic government systems (i.e., e-District and Online PAN card registration system (OPCRS)) by non-adopters in the Indian context. The study validates extended theory of planned behavior (TPB) with some additional relevant factors including self-efficacy and anxiety. The proposed research model was validated using structural equation modelling (SEM) with sample sizes of 304 for e-District and 377 for OPCRS gathered from citizens in India. The empirical outcomes of the proposed research model indicated the significant relationships of all five hypotheses proposed between six constructs. The empirical justification, discussion, and managerial implications provided in this research can help the government to improve upon and fully utilise the potential of e-government systems in India

Examining Factors Affecting Adoption Of Online Public Grievance Redressal System: A Case Of India

    Get PDF
The purpose of this paper is to examine the factors influencing the adoption of the online public grievance redressal system (OPGRS) in the Indian context. This e-government initiative is based on the government’s long term strategic policy that aims to reform and overhaul the Indian bureaucracy. The model developed is based on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) and includes the constructs including performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, self-efficacy, and behavioral intention. The empirical outcomes provided the positive significant relationships for all 11 hypotheses established using six constructs. The empirical evidence and discussion presented in the study can help the Indian government to improve upon and fully utilize the potential of OPGRS as a useful tool for transparent and corruption free country. The research also provides its limitations and future research directions, and implications for theory and practice at the end

E-Government Adoption Research: An Analysis of the Employee Perspective

    Get PDF
The study of electronic government is a comparatively recent development, and to date, relatively little is known about levels of maturity and contemporary trends and issues. The aim of this paper is to provide a review of current literature pertaining to electronic government research in order to observe basic trends and highlight promising lines of inquiry. Of an initial search resulting in 448 articles published between 2000-2011, 134 were found to discuss adoption of e-government services from an employee’s perspective and included in our study. Results suggest that there is currently a relative lack of theoretical development and rigor in the area, and although many aspects such as job relevance, security, perceived benefits, anxiety, and perceived quality are clearly significant as far as employee’s adoption is concerned, they have not been investigated to their potential, and there remains much opportunity for researchers to shape and develop the field

The unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT): a literature review

    Get PDF
YesPurpose – The purpose of this paper is to perform a systematic review of articles that have used the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). Design/methodology/approach – The results produced in this research are based on the literature analysis of 174 existing articles on the UTAUT model. This has been performed by collecting data including demographic details, methodological details, limitations, and significance of relationships between the constructs from the available articles based on the UTAUT. Findings – The findings indicated that general purpose systems and specialized business systems were examined in the majority of the articles using the UTAUT. The analysis also indicated that crosssectional approach, survey methods, and structural equation modelling analysis techniques were the most explored research methodologies whereas SPSS was found to be the largely used analysis tools. Moreover, the weight analysis of independent variables indicates that variables such as performance expectancy and behavioural intention qualified for the best predictor category. Moreover, the analysis also suggested that single subject or biased sample as the most explored limitation across all studies. Research limitations/implications – The search activities were centered on occurrences of keywords to avoid tracing a large number of publications where these keywords might have been used as casual words in the main text. However, we acknowledge that there may be a number of studies, which lack keywords in the title, but still focus upon UTAUT in some form. Originality/value – This is the first research of its type which has extensively examined the literature on the UTAUT and provided the researchers with the accumulative knowledge about the model

Developing a Framework using Interpretive Structural Modeling for the Challenges of Digital Financial Services in India

    Get PDF
Digital financial services (DFS) can expand the delivery of basic financial services to the poor through innovative technologies like mobile-phone-enabled solutions, electronic money models and digital payment platforms. By 2020, it is estimated that the mobile will have the potential to serve about 250 million people for financial services in India. Yet there remains a long way for India to go in digital finance. Realizing this, the objectives of the current research are to recognize various key challenges of DFS, to find contextual relationships between various challenges and to develop a hierarchy of challenges to promote DFS in India. The findings revealed 45 contextual relationships among the key challenges using experts’ inputs. Implementing interpretive structural modelling (ISM) indicated “Lack of literacy/digital literacy (C4)” and “Universal unavailability of Internet (C8)” as the key driving challenges coming on the way of using DFS

Sentiment analysis of products’ reviews containing English and Hindi texts

YesThe online shopping is increasing rapidly because of its convenience to buy from home and comparing products from their reviews written by other purchasers. When people buy a product, they express their emotions about that product in the form of review. In Indian context, it is found that the reviews contain Hindi text along with English. It is also found that most of the Hindi text contains opinionated words like bahut achha, bakbas, pesa wasool etc. We have tried to find out different Hindi texts appearing in product reviews written on Indian E-commerce portals. We have also developed a system which takes all those reviews containing Hindi as well as English texts and find out the sentiment expressed in that review for each attribute of the product as well as a final review of the product
