Influence of Halides on the Luminescence of Silver Molecular Clusters in Photo-Thermo-Refractive Glasses

    Get PDF
The luminescence spectra of silver molecular clusters in photo-thermo-refractive glasses are investigated in detail before and after the UV irradiation and also after the heat treatment of the samples. Also investigat-ed are (I) the influence of halogens such as Cl and Br in glass matrix composition on the luminescence of sil-ver molecular clusters in photo-thermo-refractive glasses and (II) the effect of temperature on the lumines-cence spectra and the integrated intensity of luminescence of photo-thermo-refractive glasses. Luminescence of Silver Nanoclusters Formed by Ion Exchange Method in Cerium-doped and Undoped Glasses

    Get PDF
The paper describes the research of influence of cerium ions in a silicate glass composition on the process of formation silver nanoclusters and their optical properties. Effect ion exchange time and subsequent heat treatment at temperature below transition temperature were investigated. The paper shows that in cerium-doped glasses the rate of formation of silver nanoclusters higher than in the glass without cerium. It explained by the shift of redox reaction of cerium and silver ions towards formation of atomic silver. Dependence of Chemical Etching rate of PTR-glasses on Terms of Photo-thermo-induced Crystallization

    Get PDF
Etching kinetics of virgin photo-thermo-refractive glass and glassceramics (after photo-thermo-induced crystallization process at various terms) in aqueous hydrofluoric acid based solution has been investigated for the first time. It has been shown that the etching rate of the glassceramic is increasing with increasing of nanocrystalls number and size. Temperature Effect on Exciton Absorption of CuBr Nanocrystals in Potassium-aluminaborate Glass

    Get PDF
The paper describes the research of temperature effect of potassium-alumina-borate (PAB) glass with CuBr nanocrystals, which was obtained in optical wavelength region for the first time. Temperature dependence of optical density at different wavelengths was examined. Melting and crystallization temperatures were evaluated for different nanocrystals sizes. Great changes of exciton absorption band influenced by temperatures below 100Β°C were recorded. Propositions for studied glass application as tunable filters in electro-optic circuit were suggested. PbSe quantum dots (QDs) were synthesed in fluorophosphate glass and their absorption and lumines-cence properties were investigated. The effect of the duration of the heat treatment on the spectral-luminescent properties was considered. The average diameter of the synthesized quantum dots has been calculated. Red Emitting Phosphors Doped with Mn and Eu Ions for pc-WLEDs

    Get PDF
A new red emitting phosphors based on oxyfluoride glass and glassceramics doped with europium and manganese ions were synthesized and their optical properties and structure were studied. The transparent ceramic matrices for phosphors were selected because they overcome traditional powder phosphors due to high chemical and thermal stability and low temperature sensitivity. The fluoride based red emitting phosphors combined with green one and blue emitting chip used to fabricate phosphor converted white LEDs with warm color temperature and improved color rendering indexes. Up-conversion and IR Luminescence of Ytterbium–Erbium Oxyfluoride Silicate Glassceramics

    Get PDF
The paper studied the luminescent properties of lead fluoride silicate nanostructured glassceramics doped with ytterbium and erbium ions. We have measured luminescence spectra of glassceramics in the visible and near-IR ranges at temperatures of 300 and 77 K and under their pumping at a wavelength of 975 nm. We have examined changes in the luminescence spectra of glassceramics depending on the time of their secondary thermal treatment, concentration of dopant ions, specimen temperature, and power of exci-tation radiation. Assessment of serum trace elements and electrolytes in children with childhood and atypical autism

    No full text
The existing data demonstrate a significant interrelation between ASD and essential and toxic trace elements status of the organism. However, data on trace element homeostasis in particular ASD forms are insufficient. Therefore, the objective of the present study was to assess the level of trace elements and electrolytes in serum of children with childhood and atypical autism. A total of 48 children with ASD (24 with childhood and 24 with atypical autism) and age- and sex-adjusted controls were examined. Serum trace elements and electrolytes were assessed using inductively-coupled plasma mass spectrometry. The obtained data demonstrate that children with ASD unspecified are characterized by significantly lower Ni, Cr, and Se levels as compared to the age- and sex-matched controls. At the same time, significantly decreased serum Ni and Se concentrations were detected in patients with childhood autism. In turn, children with atypical autism were characterized by more variable serum trace element spectrum. In particular, atypical autism is associated with lower serum Al, As, Ni, Cr, Mn, and Se levels in comparison to the control values. Moreover, Al and Mn concentration in this group was also lower than that in childhood autism patients. Generally, the obtained data demonstrate lower levels of both essential and toxic trace elements in atypical autism group, being indicative of profound alteration of trace elements metabolism. However, further detailed metabolic studies are required to reveal critical differences in metabolic pathways being responsible for difference in trace element status and clinical course of the disease.
