Imposed Switching Frequency Direct Torque Control of Induction Machine Using Five Level Flying Capacitors Inverter

    Get PDF
The paper proposes a new control structure for sensorless induction motor drive based on a five-level voltage source inverter (VSI). The output voltages of the five-level VSI can be represented by nine groups. Then, the amplitude and the rotating velocity of the flux vector can be controlled freely. Both fast torque and optimal switching logic can be obtained. The selection is based on the value of the stator flux and the torque. This paper investigates a new control structure focused on controlling switching frequency and torque harmonics contents. These strategies, called ISFDTC, indeed combines harmoniously both these factors, without compromising the excellence of the dynamical performances typically conferred to standard DTC strategies. The validity of the proposed control technique is verified by Matlab/Simulink. Simulation results presented in this paper confirm the validity and feasibility of the proposed control approach and can be tested on experimental setup.Peer reviewe

Real time implementation of adaptive sliding mode observer based speed sensor less vector control of induction motor

    No full text
Sensor less induction motor drives are widely used in industry for their reliability and flexibility. However, rotor flux and speed sensors are required for vector control of induction motor. These sensors are sources of trouble, mainly in hostile environments, and their application reduces the drive robustness. The cost of the sensors is not also negligible. All the reasons lead to development of different sensor less methods for rotor flux and mechanical speed estimation in electrical drives. The paper deals with the speed estimators for applications in sensor less induction motor drive with vector control, which are based on application of model adaptive, based sliding mode observer methods. This paper presents the development and DSP implementation of the speed estimators for applications in sensor less drives with induction motor

Control of Multi-Sources Energy PV/Fuel Cell and Battery Based Multi-Level Inverter for AC Load

    No full text
The considered system was implemented in the Matlab/Simulink, the results show the effectiveness of the proposed method and can be realized with experimented setup. This work deals with the study of an electrical energy production system made up of three sources of energy: photovoltaic energy, a fuel cell and a battery. The optimization of this hybrid production system is ensured by the control of each part. The hybrid system chain also contains a multilevel inverter that improves the quality of energy injected into the alternating load and consequently reduces the harmonic rate. In order to optimize the power flow in the different parts of the production line, an energy management algorithm is developed in order to mitigate the fluctuations of the load. To analyze our approach, a prototype is modeled, simulated with Matlab / simulink and can be realized in an experimental test benc

Integration of Offshore Wind Farm Plants to the Power Grid using an HVDC line Transmission

    No full text
This paper investigates an integration of Offshore Wind Farm Plants with Power Grid Based on an HVDC line Interconnection. Large offshore wind farms are installed in the North Sea area using modern multi-megawatt wind turbines. The Voltage source converter - high voltage direct current VSC-HVDC is a suitable means of integrating such large and distant offshore Wind Power Plants (WPP) which need long submarine cable transmission to the onshore grid. The offshore network then becomes very different from the conventional grid, in that it is only connected to electronic power converters. A wind farm model with VSC-HVDC connection is developed. This work presents the modeling and simulation of such a system. The dynamic study of system performance under the fluctuations of wind energy and wind speed was studied to demonstrate the effectiveness of the control strategy. The validity of the proposed control technique is verified by Matlab/Simulink. Simulation results presented in this paper confirm the validity and feasibility of the proposed control approach, and can be tested on experimental setup
