Strong convergence of a positive preserving drift-implicit Euler scheme for the fixed delay CIR process
In this paper, we consider a fixed delay Cox-Ingersoll-Ross process (CIR
process) on the regime where it does not hit zero, the aim is to determine a
positive preserving implicit Euler Scheme. On a time grid with constant
stepsize our scheme extends the scheme proposed by Alfonsi in 2005 for the
classical CIR model. Furthermore, we consider its piecewise linear
interpolation, and, under suitable conditions, we establish the order of strong
convergence in the uniform norm, thus extending the results of Dereich et al.
in 2011.Comment: 24 page
Revisiting Relations between Stochastic Ageing and Dependence for Exchangeable Lifetimes with an Extension for the IFRA/DFRA Property
We first review an approach that had been developed in the past years to
introduce concepts of "bivariate ageing" for exchangeable lifetimes and to
analyze mutual relations among stochastic dependence, univariate ageing, and
bivariate ageing. A specific feature of such an approach dwells on the concept
of semi-copula and in the extension, from copulas to semi-copulas, of
properties of stochastic dependence. In this perspective, we aim to discuss
some intricate aspects of conceptual character and to provide the readers with
pertinent remarks from a Bayesian Statistics standpoint. In particular we will
discuss the role of extensions of dependence properties. "Archimedean" models
have an important role in the present framework. In the second part of the
paper, the definitions of Kendall distribution and of Kendall equivalence
classes will be extended to semi-copulas and related properties will be
analyzed. On such a basis, we will consider the notion of "Pseudo-Archimedean"
models and extend to them the analysis of the relations between the ageing
notions of IFRA/DFRA-type and the dependence concepts of PKD/NKD
Job satisfaction in Italy: individual characteristics and social relations
This paper investigates the determinants of job satisfaction in Italy with particular emphasis on social relations. Our econometric analysis is based on four waves (1993, 1995, 1998 and 2000) of the Multipurpose Household Survey conducted annually by the Italian Central Statistics Office. The results of ordered probit regressions and robustness tests show that volunteering and meetings with friends are significantly and positively correlated with job satisfaction, with religious participation playing the biggest role. Our findings also show that meetings with friends increase job satisfaction through self-perceived health.Job satisfaction, social relations, social capital, health, statistical matching, Italy
Estimation of orographically induced wave drag in the stable boundary layer during the CASES-99 experimental campaign
This paper addresses the quantification of gravity wave drag due to small hills in the stable boundary layer. A single column atmospheric model is used to forecast wind and temperature profiles in the boundary layer. Next, these profiles are used to calculate vertical profiles of gravity wave drag. Climatology of wave drag magnitude and Âżwave drag eventsÂż is presented for the CASES-99 experimental campaign. It is found that gravity wave drag events occur for several relatively calm nights, and that the wave drag is then of equivalent magnitude as the turbulent drag. We also illustrate that wave drag events modify the wind speed sufficiently to substantially change the surface sensible heat flu

Changing the University System Management: a study of the Italian scenario
Over recent years, the Italian University System has been handling a phase of deep
changes, which have had significant impact on its mission and on the way it operates.
The most important of these changes have been to the organisation of universities, their
recruitment procedures and in terms of improvements to the quality and efficiency of
the university system itself. In this perspective, the objective of this research was to carry
out a critical analysis of the process of change, with special reference to improving
efficiency by making the transition from cash-based accounting to accrual accounting. In
order to achieve this objective, the starting point was the legislation of reference that
sets out the terms for the move to financial accrual accounting. A comparative analysis
was then carried out at an international level, with the purpose of highlighting the
strengths and weaknesses identified during the implementation of these new
procedures within the public field. This was followed by an analysis of the details of the
theory defining the accounting principles to be used in the process of preparing
university’s financial statements. Finally, the study identified the main critical points
relating to implementation of the new accounting system, offering, at the same time,
several thoughts concerning possible subsequent analyses on this topic
Interpersonal Relationships on and outside of the Job and Satisfaction with Working Conditions in Europe
The aim of this paper is to analyse, using a standard probit model, the correlates of satisfaction with working
conditions in Europe. The main assumption of the paper is that employees’ satisfaction with working conditions
depends not only on standard variables that explain satisfaction but also on employees’ interpersonal relationships on
and outside of the job. The econometric analysis employs data from the Sixth European Working Conditions Survey
carried on in 2015 and released in 2017.Findings show that interpersonal relations count at various level for
satisfaction with a positive association between relationships on and outside of the job and satisfaction with working
conditions
Is there an association between working conditions and health? An analysis of the Sixth European Working Conditions Survey data
This paper analyses the association between working conditions and physical health using
data from the Sixth European Working Conditions Survey (EWCS6) released in 2017. The
econometric analysis uses two indicators to describe health status: self-assessed health
(SAH), which is a subjective indicator of health; and an objective indicator of health (SICK),
which is based on the occurrence of any illness or health problem that has lasted or is
expected to last for more than 6 months. The theoretical hypotheses concerning the association
between working conditions and SAH and the association between working conditions
and SICK are tested using a standard ordered probit model and a standard probit model,
respectively. The results show that encouraging working conditions, work environment, and
job support are associated with both better self-assessed health and better objective health
