Differential binding of RNA polymerase to the wild type Mu mom promoter and its C independent mutant: a theoretical analysis
Using the theoretical model for DNA bending we have analyzed the Mu mom promoter wild type and its mutant tin7 which showed differential binding to the RNA polymerase. We have demonstrated here the structural change as a result of the point mutation which may be responsible for the altered binding of RNA polymerase. Analysis using both sets of parameters essentially gives the same result
Application of artificial neural networks for prokaryotic transcription terminator prediction
Artificial neural networks (ANN) to predict terminator sequences, based on a feed-forward architecture and trained using the error back propagation technique, have been developed. The network uses two different methods for coding nucleotide sequences. In one the nucleotide bases are coded in binary while the other uses the electron-ion interaction potential values (EIIP) of the nucleotide bases. The latter strategy is new, property based and substantially reduces the network size. The prediction capacity of the artificial neural network using both coding strategies is more than 95%
Noncommutative gravity: fuzzy sphere and others
Gravity on noncommutative analogues of compact spaces can give a finite mode
truncation of ordinary commutative gravity. We obtain the actions for gravity
on the noncommutative two-sphere and on the noncommutative in
terms of finite dimensional -matrices. The commutative large
limit is also discussed.Comment: LaTeX, 13 pages, section on CP^2 added + minor change
Thermodynamic signatures for the existence of Dirac electrons in ZrTe5
We combine transport, magnetization, and torque magnetometry measurements to
investigate the electronic structure of ZrTe5 and its evolution with
temperature. At fields beyond the quantum limit, we observe a magnetization
reversal from paramagnetic to diamagnetic response, which is characteristic of
a Dirac semi-metal. We also observe a strong non-linearity in the magnetization
that suggests the presence of additional low-lying carriers from other
low-energy bands. Finally, we observe a striking sensitivity of the magnetic
reversal to temperature that is not readily explained by simple band-structure
models, but may be connected to a temperature dependent Lifshitz transition
proposed to exist in this material.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
Hyperfine interaction and electronic spin fluctuation study on SrLaFeCoO (x = 0, 1, 2) by high-resolution back-scattering neutron spectroscopy
The study of hyperfine interaction by high-resolution inelastic neutron
scattering is not very well known compared to the other competing techniques
viz. NMR, M\"ossbauer, PACS etc. Also the study is limited mostly to
magnetically ordered systems. Here we report such study on
SrLaFeCoO (x = 0, 1, 2) of which first (SrFeCoO with x
= 0) has a canonical spin spin glass, the second (SrLaFeCoO with x = 1) has
a so-called magnetic glass and the third (LaFeCoO with x = 2) has a
magnetically ordered ground state. Our present study revealed clear inelastic
signal for SrLaFeCoO, possibly also inelastic signal for SrFeCoO
below the spin freezing temperatures but no inelastic signal at all
for for the magnetically ordered LaFeCoO in the neutron scattering
spectra. The broadened inelastic signals observed suggest hyperfine field
distribution in the two disordered magnetic glassy systems and no signal for
the third compound suggests no or very small hyperfine field at the Co nucleus
due to Co electronic moment. For the two magnetic glassy system apart from the
hyperfine signal due only to Co, we also observed electronic spin fluctuations
probably from both Fe and Co electronic moments. \end{abstract
