The HOMFLYPT skein algebra of the torus and the elliptic Hall algebra
We give a generators and relations presentation of the HOMFLYPT skein algebra
of the torus , and we give an explicit description of the module
corresponding to the solid torus. Using this presentation, we show that is
isomorphic to the specialization of the elliptic Hall algebra of Burban
and Schiffmann [BS12].
As an application, for an iterated cable of the unknot, we use the
elliptic Hall algebra to construct a 3-variable polynomial that specializes to
the -colored Homflypt polynomial of . We show that this polynomial
also specializes to one constructed by Cherednik and Danilenko [CD14] using the
double affine Hecke algebra. This proves one of the
Connection Conjectures in [CD14].Comment: v1: preliminary version, 36 pages, many figures. v2: minor edits and

Uptake of BIM and IPD within the UK AEC Industry: the evolving role of the architectural technologist
Building Information Modelling is not only a tool, but also the process of creation, maintenance, distribution and co-ordination of an integrated database that collaboratively stores 2D and 3D information, with embedded physical and functional data within a project-building model. The uptake of BIM within the UK Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry has been slow since the 1980’s, but over recent years, adoptions have increased. The increased collaborative nature of BIM, external data sharing techniques and progressively complex building design, promotes requirements for design teams to coordinate and communicate more effectively to achieve project goals. To manage this collaboration, new or evolved job roles may emerge. This research examined the current use of BIM, Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) and collaborative working in the UK AEC industry and job roles that have evolved or been created to cater for them. Using semi-structured interviews the interviewees indicated while several of the key enablers of IPD were being used, IPD itself had not been fully adopted. BIM was being used with some success but improvements could be made. New job roles such as the BIM Engineer and BIM Coordinator had been seen in the industry and evidence that the Architectural Technologist (AT) role is evolving into a more multidisciplinary role; this reflects similar findings of recent research
Education and earnings in Peru's informal nonfarm family enterprises
This study presents an analysis of non-farm family businesses in Peru. It uses the enterprise rather than the individual as the unit of analysis, and incorporates enterprise characteristics (capital, nonlabor inputs, focus of operation) explicitly. The central question addressed is: does formal schooling make a difference? Women and children are included in the analysis since thay play an important, if not the preeminent, role in Peru's family business sector. We can thus see whether the payoff to education differs between male and female entrepreneurs after controlling for other factors. The paper proceeds as follows. After the introduction, sections 2 and 3 describe, respectively, the data and the regression model. Section 4 presents the empirical results. Section 5 assesses these results, including those for nonschooling variables, and section 6 discusses the implications with regard to education, comparing our findings with those obtained for some of the same people, considered as individuals, in other analysis.Banks&Banking Reform,Agricultural Knowledge&Information Systems,Health Monitoring&Evaluation,Municipal Financial Management,Environmental Economics&Policies
