IMPACT OF FEDERAL ACREAGE LIMITATION POLICY ON WESTERN IRRIGATED AGRICULTURE
Long-Run Average Cost Curves were developed for 18 Federal irrigation districts indicating in general constant cost industry. Conclusions were that InteriorÂ’s acreage limitation policy would cause no appreciable loss in economic efficiency nor an increase in food costs. Implementation of full-cost water pricing to recapture Federal subsidies would greatly reduce the amount of water demanded and significantly impact production of forages and other high water using crops.Land Economics/Use,

Majorana fermion chain at the Quantum Spin Hall edge
We study a realization of a 1d chain of Majorana bound states at the
interfaces between alternating ferromagnetic and superconducting regions at a
quantum spin Hall insulator edge. In the limit of well separated Majoranas, the
system can be mapped to the transverse field Ising model. The disordered
critical point can be reached by tuning the relative magnitude or phases of the
ferromagnetic and superconducting order parameters. We compute the voltage
dependence of the tunneling current from a metallic tip into the Majorana chain
as a direct probe of the random critical state.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figure
Next-to-Leading Order Shear Viscosity in lambda phi^4 Theory
We show that the shear viscosity of lambda phi^4 theory is sensitive at
next-to-leading order to soft physics, which gives rise to subleading
corrections suppressed by only a half power of the coupling, eta = [3033.54 +
1548.3 m_{th}/T] N T^3]/[ (N+2)/3 lambda^2], with m^2_th=(N+2)/72 lambda T^2.
The series appears to converge about as well (or badly) as the series for the
pressure.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figure. Typos fixed, tiny change in discussio
