Sensing and control scheme for the inteferometer configuration with an L-shaped resonator

The detection of high-frequency gravitational waves around kHz is critical to understanding the physics of binary neutron star mergers. A new interferometer design has been proposed in [Phys. Rev. X {\bf 13}, 021019 (2023)], featuring an L-shaped optical resonator as the arm cavity, which resonantly enhances kHz gravitational-wave signals. This new configuration has the potential to achieve better high-frequency sensitivity than the dual-recycled Fabry-Perot Michelson. In this article, we propose a sensing and control scheme for this configuration. Despite having the same number of length degrees of freedom as the dual-recycled Fabry-Perot Michelson, the new configuration requires one less degree of freedom to be controlled due to the degeneracy of two length degrees of freedom at low frequencies. We has also shown that introducing the Schnupp asymmetry is ineffective for controlling the signal-recycling cavity length. Therefore, we propose adding control fields from the dark port to control this auxiliary degree of freedom.Comment: 19 pages,9 figure

A Gravitational Wave Detector for Post Merger Neutron Stars: Beyond the Quantum Loss Limit of Michelson Fabry Perot Interferometer

Advanced gravitational-wave detectors that have made groundbreaking discoveries are Michelson interferometers with resonating optical cavities as their arms. As light travels at finite speed, these cavities are optimal for enhancing signals at frequencies below their bandwidth frequency. A small amount of optical loss will, however, significantly impact the high-frequency signals which are not optimally amplified. We find an elegant interferometer configuration with an "L-resonator" as the core, significantly surpassing the loss limited sensitivity of dual recycled Fabry Perot Michelson interferometers at high frequencies. Following this concept, we provide a broadband design of a 25 km detector with outstanding sensitivity between 2-4 kHz. We have performed Monte-Carlo population studies of binary neutron star mergers, given the most recent merger rate from the GWTC-3 catalog and several representative neutron star equations of state. We find that the new interferometer configuration significantly outperforms other third-generation detectors by a factor of 3 to 7 in the signal-to-noise ratio of the post-merger signal. Assuming a detection threshold with signal-to-noise ratio >5 and for the cases we have explored, the new design is the only detector that confidently achieves a detection rate larger than one per year, with the rate being 1 to 30 events per year.Comment: 12 pages, 9 figure

Objective: To explore the common nursing risk in department of gastroenterology and clinical nursing management strategies, in order to provide the basis for nursing in the department of gastroenterology. Methods: Analyze and discuss of the common characteristics of nursing risk in our hospital department of gastroenterology, and summarize the countermeasure and method of correlation of risk management. The implementation of risk management as the observation group and the other as the control group, and clinical nursing effect between the two groups would be compared. Moreover, nursing ability improvement circumstance for the nursing staff was compared before and after the implementation of risk management. Results: The observation group after the risk management of nursing errors, medical disputes and the patients' satisfaction were better than the control group, there is statistical significance (P< 0.05). After the risk management in Department of gastroenterology, nursing work of nursing staff in various digestive operation is proficient, medical record documents writing norms, communication ability, the emergency ability is superior before the implementation of risk management, there is statistical significance (P<0.05). Conclusion: In the nursing management in the Department of gastroenterology, the implementation of risk management is helpful to improve the ability of nursing and the nursing quality, reduce nursing risk in Department of gastroenterology, and improve hospital patient satisfaction.

Modeling and Control for HIV/AIDS Transmission in China Based on Data from 2004 to 2016

HIV is one of the major life-threatening viruses that are spreading in the People’s Republic of China (China for short). A susceptible-exposed in the latent stage-infectious (SEI) model is established to sketch the evolution of epidemic. The basic reproduction number is defined. By constructing Lyapunov function, globally asymptotical stabilities of the disease-free and endemic equilibria are given. Then, optimal control theory is applied in HIV/AIDS epidemic. Precaution, screening, and treatment of control variables are introduced and a new model with control is established. Through the HIV/AIDS data in China, all parameters involved in SEI model are analyzed and parts of them are estimated. Further, by control model, optimal strategy is obtained. Results show that the precaution and treatment are the major contributors to preventing and controlling HIV/AIDS epidemic

Purpose: To investigate the effect of tricyclic neovibsanin scaffold (TCNS) on cell viability, colony formation capacity and induction of apoptosis in glioma cells. Methods: 3-(4, 5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl) 2, 5-diphe¬nyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay was used to analyze the effect of TCNS on cell proliferation. Light microscopic examination of giemsa solution stained cells was used to calculate the number of colonies with > 50 cells. Flow cytometry using a flow cytometer, while apoptosis detection kit were used to analyze induction of apoptosis. Results: TCNS treatment significantly inhibited the viability of U138 NS and U138 AC cells in a concentration-dependent manner (p < 0.05). TCNS caused 86 % reduction in the capacity of U138 NS cells to form colonies and led to significant induction of apoptosis. The activation of caspase 3 and expression of Bax was increased significantly (p < 0.05). Moreover, TCNS treatment increased the median survival time of mice bearing glioma to 34 days compared to 22 days in untreated mice. Conclusion: Thus, TCNS treatment significantly inhibits the viability of glioma cells and colony formation, but induces apoptosis and increases the median survival of mice. Hence, TCNS may be of therapeutic value for the treatment of glioma. Keywords: Glioma, Tricyclic neovibsanin scaffold, Survival time, Colony formation, Apoptosi

A two-carrier scheme: evading the 3dB quantum penalty of heterodyne readout in gravitational-wave detectors

Precision measurements using traditional heterodyne readout suffer a 3dB quantum noise penalty compared with homodyne readout. The extra noise is caused by the quantum fluctuations in the image vacuum. We propose a two-carrier gravitational-wave detector design that evades the 3dB quantum penalty of heterodyne readout. We further propose a new way of realising frequency-dependent squeezing utilising two-mode squeezing in our scheme. It naturally achieves more precise audio frequency signal measurements with radio frequency squeezing. In addition, the detector is compatible with other quantum nondemolition techniques
