Commissioned by The Immigrant Learning Center, Inc., this study examines the role of immigrant entrepreneurs in the revitalization of three Boston neighborhoods. All of these neighborhoods had undergone economic decline but rising immigrant populations in each have postively impacted their revival. In particular, the study looks at the role of immigrant entrepreneurs and their connection to Boston's community and economic development. It identifies the specific ways in which immigrant entrepreneurs contribute to the revitalization of their neighborhoods, centering on the perspectives of the immigrant entrepreneurs themselves. Business start-up, business operations, neighborhood relationships and future plans were covered in 35 interviews, augmented by input from key informants and census data. All in all, the immigrant businesses have proven to be engines of change that contribute to a feeling of stability. One is let with wonder and appreciation for what they have achieved for themselves and their communities

The Missing Link: An Introduction to Web Development and Programming

Web development is an evolving amalgamation of languages that work in concert to receive, modify, and deliver information between parties using the Internet as a mechanism of delivery. While it is easy to describe conceptually, implementation is accompanied by an overwhelming variety of languages, platforms, templates, frameworks, guidelines, and standards. Navigating a project from concept to completion often requires more than mastery of one or two complementing languages, meaning today’s developers need both breadth, and depth, of knowledge to be effective. This text provides the developer with an understanding of the various elements of web development by focusing on the concepts and fundamentals through the examples within, providing a foundation that allows easier transition to other languages and a better understanding of how to approach their work. The reader will be introduced to topics in a manner that follows most project development methods, from initial conceptualization and design through front end development, back end development, and introducing additional concepts like accessibility and security, while focusing on responsive design techniques. Each section of the text includes opportunities to practice the material and assess increased knowledge after examining the topics.https://knightscholar.geneseo.edu/oer-ost/1016/thumbnail.jp

Parental Involvement and Academic Success During Emerging Adulthood

Emerging adults are posited to experience their own life stage that differs from adolescents and adults in a variety of ways. This study explored the interaction between the parent-child relationship and emerging adult academic success. Participants were 275 university students who completed measures of their self-perception of adulthood including actual parental involvement and ideal parental involvement. These factors were examined among students who were academically at-risk and academically in good standing. Regardless of academic status, students indicated moderate to high levels of parental involvement, desired more parental involvement, and identified with the emerging adulthood stage more than any other life stage (i.e., adolescence and adulthood). Parental involvement and emerging adulthood constructs were not related to student academic success; however, subscales of parental interaction were correlated positively with several emerging adulthood factors

Various scholars have debated the traditional and low chronology of the Iron Age in the southern Levant using pottery as one of its main tools. Both approaches disagree regarding the dates assigned to early Iron Age II pottery. In order to achieve a better understanding of the problem, it is necessary to improve the still rudimentary knowledge of Iron Age II pottery in Transjordan. This study attempts to provide information that contributes to clarifying this chronology. The methodology used in this discussion is a comparative analysis of Iron Age IIA, IIB, IIC ceramics from Tall Jalul with those from Tall al-'Umayri and Tall Hisban and other relevant sites in the region where necessary. After said typological study, it is concluded that the Tall Jalul ceramic assemblage of Square G4 Phase 3 contains ceramics from Iron IIA or earlier forms. Phase 2 contains Iron IIB ceramic types. Phase 1 appears to be a transitional subperiod of Iron Age IIB-IIC. This phase contains most of the multicolored painted pottery.Estados Unidos. Andrews Theological Seminary. Hasel Scholarshi

The observations made at the school Marco Tulio Fernandez section C evidenced a problem regarding the EFL reading process of the students; the strengths, weaknesses and needs of the population were determine in order to attack the problem. The α-arrestin ARRDC3 mediates ALIX ubiquitination and G protein-coupled receptor lysosomal sorting.

The sorting of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) to lysosomes is critical for proper signaling and cellular responses. We previously showed that the adaptor protein ALIX regulates lysosomal degradation of protease-activated receptor-1 (PAR1), a GPCR for thrombin, independent of ubiquitin-binding ESCRTs and receptor ubiquitination. However, the mechanisms that regulate ALIX function during PAR1 lysosomal sorting are not known. Here we show that the mammalian α-arrestin arrestin domain-containing protein-3 (ARRDC3) regulates ALIX function in GPCR sorting via ubiquitination. ARRDC3 colocalizes with ALIX and is required for PAR1 sorting at late endosomes and degradation. Depletion of ARRDC3 by small interfering RNA disrupts ALIX interaction with activated PAR1 and the CHMP4B ESCRT-III subunit, suggesting that ARRDC3 regulates ALIX activity. We found that ARRDC3 is required for ALIX ubiquitination induced by activation of PAR1. A screen of nine mammalian NEDD4-family E3 ubiquitin ligases revealed a critical role for WWP2. WWP2 interacts with ARRDC3 and not ALIX. Depletion of WWP2 inhibited ALIX ubiquitination and blocked ALIX interaction with activated PAR1 and CHMP4B. These findings demonstrate a new role for the α-arrestin ARRDC3 and the E3 ubiquitin ligase WWP2 in regulation of ALIX ubiquitination and lysosomal sorting of GPCRs
