    Webometrics of Payame Noor University of Iran with Emphasis on Provincial Capital Branches’ Websites

    The science of webometrics is the study of the quantitative aspects of the construction and use of information resources, structures and technologies on the Web. One of the most important applications of this field is university websites’ and scientific centers’ rankings which is considered as one of the most famous university ranking systems in the world. The purpose of this study is to evaluate and rank websites of Payame Noor Universities of Iran and provincial capitals. This research had employed a surveying and descriptive method, which was performed on 31 websites of provincial capitals’ Payame Noor Universities and Payame Noor’s main website. This study was performed and evaluated during March 1st to March 10th 2018, using Webometrics. The results of this study show that among Payame Noor University branches’, Fars, East Azarbaijan and Isfahan websites had the highest search engine index in Google. Tehran, Yazd and Ardebil branches had the highest external link views. Fars, Khuzestan and Hamedan branches’ websites had the highest number of rich files in Google’s search engine. None of the websites in the study had any referencing index in Google Scholar’s search engine. In general, the results of this research indicates that Payame Noor Universities in provincial capitals do not have a decent webometrics ranking and indexing and their contribution to the webometrics of the main Payame Noor University’s website is not befitting

    Status of using institutional repositories in Iranian higher education centers: A short communication

    Background and aim: Institutional repositories are digital archives to collect, manage, disseminate and preserve the scientific resources. The aim of this study was to investigate the status of using institutional repositories in different higher education centers of Iran. Material and methods: In this survey study, OpenDOAR and ROAR directories were used to extract the Iranian's institutional repositories as well as the Ranking Web of World Repositories website were applied to assess the rank of institutional repositories. Findings: The findings showed that 17 organizational institutional repositories were active in Iran's scientific centers, of these, 13, 3 and 1 institutional repositories were used Eprints and Dspce and Green Stone softwares. Moreover, none of Iranian institutional repositories has been included in the webometric ranking. Conclusion: The use of institutional repositories in Iran's universities has been growing, but it is very low compared to the number of Iranian academic and research centers

    Introduction: Human kinds are social animals, and are pleased living together pleasantly and positively in mental and physical forms. Without positive living and to live in challenges and clashes is bad and catastrophic, but what’s the way out? One of the way that seems not so costly, with no war and seems that can direct and put the world in peace or in a good running order will be wisdom and intellectuality transfused by many scientific centers and the wise men, then we intended to survey the social health and a healthy social life based on wisdom and intellectuality to find a way out of that problems in our living world. Methods: It is a survey and observational method. Some news agency, internet, mass and social media were also surveyed and observed to collect the data that was needed to be used. Results: In 2018 about 140 top reports, broadcasted from around the world many of them unfortunately reported badly as negative and unpleasant ones from challenges and clashes between nations and the countries. The world also witnessed crises, protests, clashes, ups and downs such as Jamal Khoshaghji murder, Trump withdrawal from the agreement and France protest movement in the same year. About 8 years clashes, killing and baking children in Syria, Iraq territories and also mass killing of Rohingya civilians, gang rapes, and other sexual violence are other examples happened. Conclusion: The results claimed that the world is in danger and should and must be freed of the faced problems and it is a global concern. Wise and intellectual thoughts and decisions should be taken and come to account to solve them. Improving human morality, social integrity, filling the gaps and human elements development such as social capital can and may be the way out

    The Opportunities and Damages of Virtual Social Networks from Students\u27 Perspectives; the Experience of Iranian Users

    Today, virtual social networks affect different dimensions of individual and social life of individuals and in the future they will play a much greater and more important role in life. The present study aims to study the positive and negative effects of virtual social networks from students\u27 point of view medical and non-medical sciences universities of Gonabad city. This is a descriptive-survey study. The research population of the study population was Gonabad, a university student in the academic year of 2016-2017. To determine the sample size, 350 samples were selected using Cochran formula and selected by stratified random sampling from the research community. The data gathering tool in this study was a demographic questionnaire and a researcher-made questionnaire that was a measure of the effects of virtual social networks. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS version 20 software. networks social telegram with 96% and Instagram 60.9% were the most popular. communication with friends and acquaintances with an average of 16 and education with an average of 11, the most significant positive effects and anti-religious propaganda with an average of 17, and rapid formation and promotion The rumors with the average of 13 are the most negative effects of using these networks. There was also no significant difference between the viewpoints of students of medical and non-medical sciences universities in Gonabad. Facilitating virtual communication and education from the viewpoint of students is the most important opportunity to use virtual social networks. Also, anti-religious propaganda and the instigation of doubts, the formation and promotion of rumors are also a threat to such networks

    Health information seeking behavior among students of Gonabad University of Medical Sciences

    Introduction: Nowadays, the need for health information has grown all over the world, and this information often changes behavior and health decisions. This research was conducted with the aim of investigating the seeking behavior and health information channels in students of Gonabad University of Medical Sciences. Methods: In this Analytic-descriptive study, 115 individuals from health department, 110 individuals from nursing department, 93 individuals from medical department and 112 individuals from paramedical department were randomly selected and analyzed. The data collection tool was a questionnaire whose validity and reliability were obtained in previous studies. Collected data analyzed using SPSS 20. Results: The findings show that more students are seeking information about the type of sickness with a mean of 3.29 and their treatment with an average of 3.20, and internet resources and doctors are the most commonly used among students. There is a significant difference between the use of different sources of health information seeking among students (P\u3c0.05). There was also no significant difference between the use of different sources of health information seeking among students at different faculties (P\u3e0.05). Conclusion: The results of this study provide a clear picture of the health information seeking behavior in students of Gonabad University of Medical Sciences. According to the goals of seeking for health information and resources, It can be said that the results of seeking for students can affect their decision making and choice in treating sickness and promoting their health. Therefore, improving the health literacy of students can have a positive effect on their health promotion

    WEBOMETRICS ANALYSIS OF IRANIAN UNIVERSITIES ABOUT MEDICAL SCIENCES’ WEBSITES BETWEEN SEPTEMBER 2016 AND MARCH 2017

    This study aimed to analyze the websites' ranks on Iranian Medical Sciences Universities in the period of 11 September 2016 to 1March 2017. It was performed on Webometrics method which contains 41 Websites of Iranian Medical Sciences Universities. For instance, Moz, Google, Google Scholar and so on. University of Shiraz's website topped the table. Tehran, Shahid Beheshti and Bandar Abbas Universities' websites followed Shiraz in order. Meanwhile, Kerman University of Medical Sciences, North Khorasan, Bushehr and Urmia experienced the highest increase on Home contents, scientific resources, input links and rich files. First-rank universities, as well as universities with the highest growth, all owns what a good website should have the basic contents and beyond. In one word, the results of this study showed that except a limited number of universities possess high-quality website, others have weak effect
