Water-soluble (salicyladimine)2Cu complex as an efficient and renewable catalyst for Michael addition of indoles to nitroolefins in water

    No full text
<p>An efficient and environmentally friendly protocol has been demonstrated for water-soluble (salicyladimine)2Cu complex-catalyzed Michael addition of indoles to nitroolefins in water at 30 °C. A variety of substituted indoles and β-nitrostyrenes could be worked well to provide the title products in 81–97% yields. Moreover, the catalyst can be reused directly at least for four times without significantly decreasing activity.</p

<p>Surgical biopsy suggested breast tissue and microcalcifications within dilated duct. Lateral oblique view (A) and magnified view (B) showed a cluster of fine pleomorphic microcalcifications with the extent of 1.1 cm. Mammographic BI-RADS category 4 was suggested. Surgical specimen showed clusted microcalcifications around the hookwire(C). Absence of contrast uptake in the corresponding location on sagital (D) and axial (E) MRI was observed. BI-RADS-MRI category 1 was diagnosed.</p

Relationships between Cell Parameters of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells and Dye-Adsorption Parameters

    No full text
The performance of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) is affected strongly by sensitizer-dye adsorption behavior on TiO2 nanocrystal electrode. This study reports quantitative relationships between DSC cell performance parameters and dye-adsorption parameters for the first time. We discovered a logarithmic relationship between short-circuit photocurrent density (<i>J</i>sc) and dye-adsorption equilibrium constant on TiO2 surface, and a linear relationship between open-circuit potential (<i>V</i>oc) and dye-adsorption density on TiO2 surface for DSCs. These relationships provide a convenient method for forecasting the performance of TiO2 nanoparticles for DSCs from the dye-adsorption parameters, and also indicate future directions for the development of high-performance TiO2 nanoparticles for DSCs

UCA1 may be involved in apoptosis induced by Ets-2 knockdown in BLZ-211 cells.

<p>(A) The induction of apoptosis following a 48-hour treatment of Ets-2 siRNA or scrambled control siRNAs in BLZ-211 cells was examined by using a fluorescence microscope. Cells were stained with Annexin V (Green) and PI (Red). Scale bar 25 µm. The images were representative of three independent experiments. (B) Apoptosis was quantified by flow cytometry (FCM). The FCM results were representative of three independent experiments. Cellular pro-apoptosis processes (upper right quadrant) were increased after Ets-2 knockdown in BLZ-211 cells (12.49±1.21% vs. 6.40±1.47%, *<i>P</i><0.05) while no significant change in BLS-211 cells (4.12±0.28% vs. 3.20±2.50%, <i>P</i>>0.05). NSC: non-specific control siRNA.</p
