Systematic Design of Expert System Using Unified Modelling Language

    Get PDF
An expert system as an expert knowledge-based information system has been widely used by interested parties to consult their problems. Therefore, an expert system should be well designed so as to meet the requirements for a software to store knowledge, explain problems, and recommend solutions. The purpose of the present study is to develop a systematic design of an expert system using Unified Modeling Language (UML), which is one of popular object oriented modeling languages. The research method was a literature review as the main source for analyzing the expert system requirements. The developed design was then clarified, verified, and validated in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD). To evaluate the model, a review of some related studies was conducted. The research respondents were informatics lecturers at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. The results of the study revealed that the systematic design of expert system was well-developed because it was user-friendly, flexible, easy to be modified, and able to propose solutions for various problems

Social Media-Based Identifier for Natural Disaster

This article proposes a conceptual framework design tool to implement Secure Place Locator (SPL) that can help the process of Disaster Management (DM) through utilizing social media, in which this software can inform disaster site and safe point for casualities evacuation in real time with Geographic Information System (GIS) aid. The discussion is limited to the system design, with design methodology tool as an adaptation of the model development System of Design Life Cycle (SDLC), which includes the following stages: problem identification and selection, initiation and planning, analysis, and design. The analysis of formulated design is expected to handle disaster evacuation quickly and appropriately, this device will have a significant impact in the evacuation process (recovery) of victims by discovering a safe point of evacuation in order that help is given on target and evenly. The benefit of SPL implementation is that SPL can map position, quantity, density, and incident in the disaster site, so that DM process can be performed quickly and accuratel

Automated Text Summarization for Indonesian Article Using Vector Space Model

    Get PDF
In a scientific work, an abstract always contains main information of an article including at least a researched problem, aim(s), methodology, and result of the study. Writing an abstract requires a conscientious analysis since the contents would affect both the readers’ interestedness and disinterestedness on a particular or overall research topic. However, people generally write manually by summarizing the article. The aim of this study is constructing automation for summarizing Indonesian articles as an alternative approach to an abstract. This is involving two methods to summarize an article. A Term Frequency-inverse Document Frequency is used to get a keyword and weight terms, and a Vector Space Model is utilized to represent abstract text into a vector that used to identify the linkage of documents. From this method, the result of the summary can be generated from documents. Supporting this research, we used several journal articles written by a manual abstract. The results of this application show that the automatic summarization produces a paragraph which consists of more than three same sentences constantly as compared to manual paragraphing

Model of Cytation Network Analysis using Sequence of Words as Structured Text Representation

Citation in research activity is crucial. Various of journal publication media are available as a forum for publication and a source of research reference. In this study, we propose an analytical model for cytation networks in journal publications using a network of sciences. In addition, our cited network analysis model contains a structured text representation with Sequence of Words (SOW) form in the pre-process stage. The algorithm which is used to produce text representation in this research is the algorithm that corresponds to the generated SOW form, such as sequential or frequent pattern algorithm. The conceptual validation of the cytation network model in this study was carried out at the Department of Informatics Engineering, UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. By using Focus Group Discussion (FGD) as a conceptual validation, the cited network analysis model in this study is ready and possible to implement easily because it is described in general concep
