Youth civic education in times of post-truth: cultural values aspect
The article is dedicated to the main principles of youth civic education as a response to the ideological and political challenges of the post-truth era and its propaganda. The authors argue that the effective mechanism of overcoming the negative phenomena of post-truth and building civic responsibility and democratic culture is based on cultural values. The present article analyzes the values that are strengthening the community. When considering the importance of values for the development of communities, we should focus on cultural values that form the foundation of community existence. The values can expand the possibilities of our actions, and they also give an idea of what we should strive for. For Ukraine, it is essential to form the worldview foundations of youth based on these values. This is due to the development of democratic culture, politics, and party system in modern Ukraine. Investigating new opportunities for youth civic education, the authors intend to demonstrate that cultural values play an essential role in the development of political culture and public activism of Ukrainian communities and in overcoming negative social phenomena generated by the post-truth era. Therefore, a question arises: what values is the civic education of young people built? What values can resist the negative phenomenon of post-truth? Based on the World Values Survey results, the authors will outline the main value orientations of Ukrainian youth and determine the principles of civic education formation based on this
Philosophical Counselling: Synthesis of the Essence and Modern Tendencies of Philosophy
Abstract: The article is devoted to analyzing philosophical counseling and coaching as
contemporary tendencies of philosophy. The authors intend to demonstrate that
philosophical counseling arises as a result of transformations of philosophy, its acquisition
of a practical dimension related to the “end of metaphysics,” the situation of “end of ‘grand
narratives” (J.-F. Lyotard), “linguistic/communicative / practice turns in philosophy,” “era
of interpretation.” Thus, philosophical counseling is closely related to modern
philosophical trends - existentialism, philosophy of dialogue, communicative philosophy,
hermeneutics. But, at the same time, the dimension of philosophical counseling was
embedded in philosophy from the very beginning. The idea of “philosophy as a way of life”
defines the essence of philosophical practice. Certain archetypal images include Socrates,
who used his maieutic method to lead students to the truth (essentially advising them on
how to choose the path to truth), or Plato, who traveled to the tyrants of Syracuse to
“consult” how to create an ideal state. That is why the author’s thesis is that to understand
the essence of philosophical counseling and define its principles, we should turn to the
peculiarities of the development of philosophy in the modern era and certain universal
principles of philosophizing, manifested throughout history of philosophical thought
Future Teachers Conceptualizing Democracy in Pre-war Ukraine, in Palestine, and Norway
This article presents a qualitative study of future teachers’ conceptions of democracy in Ukraine, Palestine, and Norway during a pre-war and pre-pandemic period. In recent years, there has been a noticeable decline in the understanding of the democratic concept and reduced engagement, particularly among youth, coinciding with an assumed global recession of democratic recession. However, democracy also evolves with societal developments, whereas education holds the mandate to renew democratic values in society. This study therefore aims to explore student teachers’ own definitions of the democracy concept. Employing a grounded theory approach, we compare the written responses of 619 student teachers from Ukraine, Palestine, and Norway. The analysis reveals that despite different emphases, democracy is articulated along five dimensions: 1) political systems, 2) political culture, 3) values, 4) actions, and 5) actors. However, the study also indicates a striking finding: To our surprise, there were many identical responses across the data material, interpreted as wikied copy-paste responses, which indicate a distance and irony towards standardized democracy concepts. Consequently, democracy education is in a limbo between standardization and fostering new dimensions, whereas the teachers’ tasks will be challenging in providing democracy concepts born anew for the next generation
The use of project technologies in the training of students
The new millennium is characterized by an unprecedented breakthrough in knowledge and information and communication technologies. The challenges of the XXI century require modernized paradigms of interaction in all spheres of life, including the educational one. To date, one of the most promising teaching methods is project technology. It forms the conditions for creative self-realization of students, increases their motivation to learn, and promotes the development of intellectual abilities that contribute to the acquisition of students’ own experience in solving problems of future independent life, which they project in their studies. The professional training of the student is enhanced through the use of project technologies, so students have to develop technical skills to be productive members of society. The research aims – to establish a pattern of promoting the implementation of project technologies in educational institutions by surveying the Internet. Another aim is to establish the ability of educational institutions to provide quality competent training to HEI students. Research methods: comparative analysis; systematization; generalization, and survey. Results. It has been established that as a result of the survey of students, project technologies have a positive impact on the provision of competent training of students (95.5%). A smaller number of students (3.3%) were not confident in the quality of competent training of students by modern project technologies. Whereas the rest of the students have noted that modern project technologies for competent training of students contain certain shortcomings (1.2%). As a result of the study, it was found that students positively evaluate (with scores above 5.0) project technologies as practical, understandable, motivating, etc. As a result of the study, it has been found that the implementation of project technologies for the professional training of university students is a complex process due to the large number of variables that should be taken into account both in the course and at the individual level. Moreover, it has been established that the implementation of the proposed model of integrating project technologies into the process of forming competitive advantages for university students benefits both students and educators by establishing reliable communication between them and stimulating the provision of qualified training
Раздельное образование как средство учета гендерных характеристик в процессе формирования планетарно-космической личности учащихся средних школ
The philosophy of education, being an integrative and anthropologic knowledge, has to perform a prognostic and axiological function, forming a perspective of a world-view genesis of personality and provide theoretical and methodological background for the innovation processes in the education. The forming of harmonious, intellectually developed, creative, conscientious, responsible, purposeful and healthy human personality – these are all the main tasks of the educational system. There are many approaches in performing of such strategic task. One of them, starting from the urgency of a problem of sexual indifference of a modern school education, is presented in a single-sex format of education and is based upon individual approach to the education and upbringing of each and every pupil, taking into account the gender peculiarities of development. In this article we analyze the influence of a single-sex format of education on the process of forming of pupils’ personality, taking into account the age periodization of individual ontogenesis. We developed cognitive, motivational and psychological peculiarities of boys and girls during the periods of childhood and youth. Theoretical comprehension of a need in taking into consideration of the gender characteristics of pupils within the educational process – has been proved on practices, implementing the gender-orientated separate education in schools that demonstrates very positive results. There was made a conclusion about the fact, that the system of gender-orientated separated education has a strong potential of enhancing quality of a pedagogical process and helps to form the personalities of those who study. This can be achieved by taking into account the psychological, physiological and pedagogical peculiarities of boys and girls, by following in the process of educational activities the principals of egalitarianism, nature conformity, self-actualization, creative initiative, democracy and humanism, by creating of an environment, that will be free from impact of gender stereotypes and prejudice
