In quality control, monitoring and diagnosis of multivariate out of control condition is essential in today’s manufacturing industries. The simplest case involves two correlated variables; for instance, monitoring value of temperature and pressure in our environment. Monitoring refers to the identification of process condition either it is running in control or out of control. Diagnosis refers to the identification of source variables (X1 and X2) for out of control. In this study, a synergistic artificial neural network scheme was investigated in quality control of process in plastic injection moulding part. This process was selected since it less reported in the literature. In the related point of view, this study should be useful in minimizing the cost of waste materials. The result of this study, suggested this scheme has a superior performance compared to the traditional control chart, namely Multivariate Exponentially Weighted Moving Average (MEWMA). In monitoring, it is effective in rapid detection of out of control without false alarm. In diagnosis, it is able to accurately identify for source of variables. Whereby, diagnosis cannot be performed by traditional control chart. This study is useful for quality control practitioner, particularly in plastic injection moulding industry

The rapid development of ICT nowadays demands that the vocational education system in Malaysia needs to change for improvement in the quality of technology-based learning systems. The Malaysia Skills Certification (MSC) E-portfolio model was developed in this study to improve the existing portfolio used for MSC purposes. This study was conducted to verify the MSC E-portfolio measurement model. Respondents involved in this study were 350 MSC instructors from Institute of Public Skills Training in Malaysia, where 200 respondents were selected from institution under the Ministry of Human Resources and 150 respondents were under the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Malaysia. The total size of the respondent is based on the sample size formula of Krejcie and Morgan and the sample was determined using a stratified random sampling method. A questionnaire was used to obtain the research data. Rasch measurement model approach using Winsteps software was used to carry out questionnaire checks in terms of reliability and the validity of the instrument. Verification of content validity and reliability is done by 7 experts through a modified Delphi method. All 38 indicators that measure the MSC E-portfolio elements have high reliability and validity based on internal consistency analysis, indicator reliability, convergent validity and discriminant validity. This shows that a combination of all these four elements can produce an E - portfolio system that is more systematic and multi-purpose, as the concept of e-portfolios are still least applied in the education system. Overall, it can be concluded that the E-portfolio MSC constructs influenced by four major factors which are, operating systems, assessment of competence, Recognition of Prior Achievement (RPA) and virtual learning space. This study also directly gives a new dimension to the MSC system from the aspect of student competency assessment, interactive learning, safety safer storage of learning materials and provide a more systematic knowledge management space

Experimental works for analysing flow behaviour inside human trachea has become continuous problem as the model used to study cannot imitate the real geometry of human trachea structure. As the technology develop, Rapid Prototyping (RP) become more useful in constructing the 3D model that has complexity in their geometries. RP not only offer several technologies in developing the 3D model, but also varies type of materials that can be used to manufacture the 3D model. In this study, RP technique was chosen to develop the 3D model of human trachea to do the Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) experimental works. Material used was Vero Clear due to PIV need a model that transparent so that visualization on flow inside the model can be seen and the velocity magnitude can be capture. The geometry was adapted from 60 years old trachea patient where the images of trachea was taken by using CT-scan. MIMICS software was used to extracted the images before reconstruct the trachea into 3D model. Velocity distribution was visualized and the magnitude were taken at both left and right bronchi. From the analysis, it concluded that the distribution of airflow to the second generation of trachea was 60:40 to right and left bronchi. It follows the rules as the right bronchi need to supply more air to the right lung compared to left as the volume of right lung bigger that left lung
