    Reducing nonideal to ideal coupling in random matrix description of chaotic scattering: Application to the time-delay problem

    We write explicitly a transformation of the scattering phases reducing the problem of quantum chaotic scattering for systems with M statistically equivalent channels at nonideal coupling to that for ideal coupling. Unfolding the phases by their local density leads to universality of their local fluctuations for large M. A relation between the partial time delays and diagonal matrix elements of the Wigner-Smith matrix is revealed for ideal coupling. This helped us in deriving the joint probability distribution of partial time delays and the distribution of the Wigner time delay.Comment: 4 pages, revtex, no figures; published versio

    AC resistivity of d-wave ceramic superconductors

    We model d-wave ceramic superconductors with a three-dimensional lattice of randomly distributed π\pi Josephson junctions with finite self-inductance. The linear and nonlinear ac resistivity of the d-wave ceramic superconductors is obtained as function of temperature by solving the corresponding Langevin dynamical equations. We find that the linear ac resistivity remains finite at the temperature TpT_p where the third harmonics of resistivity has a peak. The current amplitude dependence of the nonlinear resistivity at the peak position is found to be a power law. These results agree qualitatively with experiments. We also show that the peak of the nonlinear resistivity is related to the onset of the paramagnetic Meissner effect which occurs at the crossover temperature TpT_p, which is above the chiral glass transition temperature TcgT_{cg}.Comment: 7 eps figures, Phys.     Median raphe serotonergic neurons projecting to the interpeduncular nucleus control preference and aversion

Although a critical role of serotonergic neurons in the dorsal raphe nucleus (DRN) in reward processing has been shown, the lack of rewarding effects with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) implies the presence of a discrete serotonergic system playing an opposite role to the DRN in the processing of reward and aversive stimuli. Here, we demonstrated that serotonergic neurons in the median raphe nucleus (MRN) of mice process reward and aversive information in opposite directions to DRN serotonergic neurons. We further identified MRN serotonergic neurons, including those projecting to the interpeduncular nucleus (5-HTMRN→IPN), as a key mediator of reward and aversive stimuli. Moreover, 5-HT receptors, including 5-HT2A receptors in the interpeduncular nucleus, are involved in the aversive properties of MRN serotonergic neural activity.     Efficient genome editing and its application to conditional genetic analysis in M. polymorpha

    Marchantia polymorpha is one of the model species of basal land plants. Although CRISPR/ Cas9-based genome editing has already been demonstrated for this plant, the efficiency was too low to apply to functional analysis. In this study, we show the establishment of CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing vectors with high efficiency for both construction and genome editing. Codon optimization of Cas9 to Arabidopsis achieved over 70% genome editing efficiency at two loci tested. Systematic assessment revealed that guide sequences of 17 nt or shorter dramatically decreased this efficiency. We also demonstrated that a combinatorial use of this system and a floxed complementation construct enabled conditional analysis of a nearly essential gene. This study reports that simple, rapid, and efficient genome editing is feasible with the series of developed vectors
