SA HUYNH REGIONAL AND INTER-REGIONAL INTERACTIONS IN THE THU BON VALLEY, QUANG NAM PROVINCE, CENTRAL VIETNAM
Around 500 BC, the introduction of iron working technology
caused radical changes in social structure in both
mainland and insular Southeast Asia. The most important
phenomenon, which had strong impacts in all aspects of
life, was the transformation from small and egalitarian to
large and complex societies. This complexity laid the
foundations for the emergence and development of early
states in the area. The causes and dynamics of these
processes were various in nature and included both
internal and external elements. Using site and artefact
distributions in the Thu Bon Valley, one of the largest and
most fertile riverine areas in the whole of central Vietnam,
we examine the nature and evolution of regional and
inter–regional interaction between Sa Huynh communities
and the outside world, especially with the Han Chinese,
the Dong Son of northern Vietnam, and contemporary
cultures in South and Southeast Asia

Improving the mapping of condition-specific health-related quality of life onto SF-6D score
Background This study sought to improve the predictive performance and goodness-of-fit of mapping models, as part of indirect valuation, by introducing cubic spline smoothing to map a group of health-related quality of life (HRQOL) measures onto a preference-based measure. Methods This study was a secondary analysis of a cross-sectional health survey data assessing the HRQOL for patients with colorectal neoplasms. Mapping functions of condition-specific functional assessment of cancer therapy—colorectal (FACT-C) onto preference-based SF-6D measure were developed using a dataset of 553 Chinese subjects with different stages of colorectal neoplasm. The missing values of FACT-C were imputed using multiple imputation. Then three widely applicable models (ordinary least square (OLS), Tobit and two-part models) were employed for the mapping function after applying the cubic spline smoothing on the data. For the evaluation of the effectiveness of cubic spline smoothing and multiple imputation, the goodness-of-fit and prediction performance of each model were compared. Results Analyses showed that the models fitted with transformed data from cubic spline smoothing offered better performance in goodness-of-fit and prediction than the models fitted with the original data. The values of were improved by over 10 %, and the root mean square error and the mean absolute error were both reduced. The best goodness-of-fit and performance were achieved by OLS model using transformed data from cubic spline smoothing. Conclusions Cubic spline smoothing and multiple imputation were recommended for the mapping of HRQOL measures onto the preference-based measure. Among the three mapping models, the simple-to-use OLS model had the best performance.postprin

Performance of Self-compacting Concrete with Stainless Steel Slag Versus Fly Ash as Fillers: A Comparative Study
Recently, stainless steel slag -a byproduct of manufacturing stainless steel is accepted as a cementitious material, the chemical characteristics of which are highly variant. This study reuses two types of stainless steel reducing slag with specific surface area of 1766 cm2/g (S1) and 7970 cm2/g (S2) in developing self-compacting concrete (SCC). Particularly, two S2-blended SCCs incorporating with S1 and fly ash as fillers (calling as S-mix and F-mix) were prepared for a comparative investigation. In both SCCs, ordinary Portland cement was replaced by S2 with various ratios (from 0 % to 50 %, increment 10 %). Testing results show that in fresh state, the F-mix exhibits higher workability and longer initial setting time than those of S-mix. In hardened state, 10 % compressive strength loss was realized as increasing S2 content up to 30 % in the both SCCs; the strength of F-mix is up to 1.9 times of S-mix at the same rate of S2 replacement. Water absorption of the F-mix was below 3 %, suggested as a “good” quality concrete; whilst the S-mix could be longs to an “average” one. Resistivity and sulfate resistance of F-mix are considerably higher than those of S-mix. Moreover, based on the obtained data, compressive strength and electrical resistivity are correlated well with a logarithmic form
CONCEPTS AND AWARENESS ABOUT SELF-HARM AND SUICIDAL THOUGHTS AMONG HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS CURRENTLY
The article focuses on understanding concepts and awareness of suicidal thoughts and self – harm behaviors based on quantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative database will be taken from a survey of high school students living and studying in Ho Chi Minh City. The qualitative database is taken from in-depth interviews focusing on teachers, parents, and students. The article presents the main results of the research. First, focus on the research basis including subjects, objects, and research methodology. Second, include views on suicidal thoughts and self-harm from many different perspectives, manifestations and causes of these behaviors, the prevalence of self-harm/suicidal thoughts, and consequences. Third, conclude and propose some recommendations to minimize the problem
