Maturity, age and growth of Oreochromis karongae (Teleostei: cichlidae) in Lake Malawi and Lake Malombe
Size-at-50% maturity, age and growth, of Oreochromis (Nyasalapia) karongae (âchamboâ) in Lakes Malawi and Malombe were studied. Similar size-at-50% maturity and growth patterns were found for populations in Lake Malawi,
but differences were observed for Lake Malombe populations, suggesting that current chambo fisheries management regulations, based on findings from the southern part of Lake Malawi, may be applicable to the central and southern parts of
that lake, but not to Lake Malombe

Business models and supply chains for the circular economy
The Circular Economy is increasingly seen as a possible solution to address sustainable development. An economic system that minimises resource input into and waste, emission, and energy leakage out of the system is hoped to mitigate negative impacts without jeopardising growth and prosperity. This paper discusses the sustainability performance of the circular business models (CBM) and circular supply chains necessary to implement the concept on an organisational level and proposes a framework to integrate circular business models and circular supply chain management towards sustainable development. It was developed based on literature analysis and four case studies. The proposed framework shows how different circular business models are driving circular supply chain in different loops: closing loops, slowing loops, intensifying loops, narrowing loops, and dematerialising loops. The identified circular business models vary in complexity of the circular supply chain and in the value proposition. Primary Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumor of the Conus Medullaris in an Elderly Patient: A Case Report and Review of the Literature
Primary spinal primitive neuroectodermal tumors (PNETs) are very rare conditions. Most of these tumors occur in children and young adults. A 63-year-old man with a primary spinal PNET in the conus medullaris from the L1 to L2 level is presented in this report. The optimal treatment of primary spinal PNETs is yet unknown. Surgical resection, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy have been advocated for the treatment of spinal PNET based on PNETs at other sites. However, the outcome is very poor. There are a few reports of cases with long-term survival and no recurrence. In these patients, en bloc resections were performed
New Perspectives in Sinographic Language Processing Through the Use of Character Structure
Chinese characters have a complex and hierarchical graphical structure
carrying both semantic and phonetic information. We use this structure to
enhance the text model and obtain better results in standard NLP operations.
First of all, to tackle the problem of graphical variation we define
allographic classes of characters. Next, the relation of inclusion of a
subcharacter in a characters, provides us with a directed graph of allographic
classes. We provide this graph with two weights: semanticity (semantic relation
between subcharacter and character) and phoneticity (phonetic relation) and
calculate "most semantic subcharacter paths" for each character. Finally,
adding the information contained in these paths to unigrams we claim to
increase the efficiency of text mining methods. We evaluate our method on a
text classification task on two corpora (Chinese and Japanese) of a total of 18
million characters and get an improvement of 3% on an already high baseline of
89.6% precision, obtained by a linear SVM classifier. Other possible

On the Brightness and Waiting-time Distributions of a Type III Radio Storm observed by STEREO/WAVES
Type III solar radio storms, observed at frequencies below approximately 16
MHz by space borne radio experiments, correspond to the quasi-continuous,
bursty emission of electron beams onto open field lines above active regions.
The mechanisms by which a storm can persist in some cases for more than a solar
rotation whilst exhibiting considerable radio activity are poorly understood.
To address this issue, the statistical properties of a type III storm observed
by the STEREO/WAVES radio experiment are presented, examining both the
brightness distribution and (for the first time) the waiting-time distribution.
Single power law behavior is observed in the number distribution as a function
of brightness; the power law index is approximately 2.1 and is largely
independent of frequency. The waiting-time distribution is found to be
consistent with a piecewise-constant Poisson process. This indicates that
during the storm individual type III bursts occur independently and suggests
that the storm dynamics are consistent with avalanche type behavior in the

Philosophy, Manga, and Ćmori ShĆzĆ
Why would a philosopher choose to convey his ideas in the form of Manga? This discussion between Masahiro Morioka, author of Manga Introduction to Philosophy, and the translator of its French edition, Pierre Bonneels, shows how philosopher and artist Morioka became acquainted, through images, with fundamental abstract notions. After a short historical analysis of the aesthetic advantages of Manga, consideration is given to this unique way of provoking thought. On this basis, theoretical aspects of âtimeâ and the âIâ proposed by Ćmori ShĆzĆ are compared with Moriokaâs Manga presentation. Equal Intensity Contours for Whole-Body Vibrations Compared with Vibrations Cross-Modally Matched to Isophones
Abstract. In this study, two experiments were conducted to determine the curves of equal intensity perception for sinusoidal vertical whole-body vibrations (WBV) of seated subjects over the frequency range from 10Hz to 250Hz. Vibrations were presented to subjects using a at hard seat. In total, 10 participants were asked to match the intensity of dierent vibrations, using a method of adjustment. The obtained contours were compared with the threshold of vibration and to vibrations cross-modally matched to tones from isophones. The shapes of the equal intensity contours in the present study show reasonable agreement with the contours from other studies despite the use of dierent methodologies and experimental questions. The contours show a characteristic similar to the perception threshold. No dependency of vibration magnitude on the shape of the contours was found in the applied dynamic range. However, large inter-individual variations were observed. The results imply that vibration curves that are cross-modally matched to isophones show similar characteristics
Multiferroic FeTeOBr: Alternating spin chains with frustrated interchain interactions
A combination of density functional theory calculations, many-body model
considerations, magnetization and electron spin resonance measurements shows
that the multiferroic FeTeOBr should be described as a system of
alternating antiferromagnetic chains with strong Fe-O-Te-O-Fe bridges
weakly coupled by two-dimensional frustrated interactions, rather than the
previously reported tetramer models. The peculiar temperature dependence of the
incommensurate magnetic vector can be explained in terms of interchain exchange
striction being responsible for the emergent net electric polarization.Comment: 7 pages, 6 figure
Correlated oscillations in Kerr parametric oscillators with tunable effective coupling
We study simultaneous parametric oscillations in a system composed of two
distributed-element-circuit Josephson parametric oscillators in the
single-photon Kerr regime coupled via a static capacitance. The energy of the
system is described by a two-bit Ising Hamiltonian with an effective coupling
whose amplitude and sign depend on the relative phase between parametric pumps.
We demonstrate that the binary phases of the parametric oscillations are
correlated with each other, and that the parity and strength of the correlation
can be controlled by adjusting the pump phase. The observed correlation is
reproduced in our simulation taking pure dephasing into account. The present
result demonstrates the tunability of the Hamiltonian parameters by the phase
of external microwave, which can be used in the the Ising machine hardware
