    Get PDF
Measurement profile of surface revolution by laser scan micrometer method is a non-contact measurement method that allows de-tailed profile measurements with fast measuring speed by using laser scanning and accuracy is much higher than other non-contact scanning methods. This paper presents the mathematical model profile of surface revolution and the application of the laser scan micrometer method for measuring this detailed profile. Fabricating complete equipment model according to the author's proposed method. Compare the results of measuring the profile of surface revolution on a construction measuring device with a roundness meter Jenoptik F315 to prove the feasibility of the construction measurement method

Modelling and Experimental Validation of a VNT Turbocharger for Improving Performances of a Marine Diesel Generator Engine

    Get PDF
This paper presents modelling and experimental validation for improving the performances of a marine diesel generator engine. Based on the diesel engine theory, the laws of conservation of energy, and the principle of movement of flow through turbocharger nozzle, a mathematical model of a real turbocharged engine was built, concentrating on the mathematic model of flow through nozzles. This model is simulated by Matlab/Simulink program, the results of simulation showed the relationships between the engine and the turbocharger, the turbine and the compressor, and between the nozzles and the turbocharger. The experiments were carried out to validate this model, the errors between the simulation and measure were acceptable. The measure and simulation results also determined that at the low load conditions (≤50% load) engine performances can be improved by adjusting nozzle opening degree (from fully opening to 90% and 80% opening)

A Fuzzy Logic Based Method for Analysing Test Results

Network operators must perform many tasks to ensure smooth operation of the network, such as planning, monitoring, etc. Among those tasks, regular testing of network performance, network errors and troubleshooting is very important. Meaningful test results will allow the operators to evaluate network performanceof any shortcomings and to better plan for network upgrade. Due to the diverse and mainly unquantifiable nature of network testing results, there is a needs to develop a method for systematically and rigorously analysing these results. In this paper, we present STAM (System Test-result Analysis Method) which employs a bottom-up hierarchical processing approach using Fuzzy logic. STAM is capable of combining all test results into a quantitative description of the network performance in terms of network stability, the significance of various network erros, performance of each function blocks within the network. The validity of this method has been successfully demonstrated in assisting the testing of a VoIP system at the Research Instiute of Post and Telecoms in Vietnam. The paper is organized as follows. The first section gives an overview of fuzzy logic theory the concepts of which will be used in the development of STAM. The next section describes STAM. The last section, demonstrating STAM’s capability, presents a success story in which STAM is successfully applied

A Maximum Entropy Approach to Sentence Boundary Detection of Vietnamese Texts

    Get PDF
International audienceWe present for the first time a sentence boundary detection system for identifying sentence boundaries in Vietnamese texts. The system is based on a maximum entropy model. The training procedure requires no hand-crafted rules, lexicon, or domain-specific information. Given a corpus annotated with sentence boundaries, the model learns to classify each occurrence of potential end-of-sentence punctuations as either a valid or invalid sentence boundary. Performance of the system on a Vietnamese corpus achieved a good recall ratio of about 95%. The approach has been implemented to create a software tool named vnSentDetector, a plug-in of the open source software framework vnToolkit which is intended to be a general framework integrating useful tools for processing of Vietnamese texts

An Efficient Design of the Piezoresistive Pressure Sensor Applied for Micro Aerial Vehicle

    Get PDF
In this research, the developing process of a piezoresistive pressure sensor working in the atmosphere environment applied in micro aerial vehicle using the MEMS fabrication method is introduced. The sensor consists of four Au/Cr piezoresistors in a Wheatstone bridge configuration on a wet oxidized silicon diaphragm. To fabricate the sensor, three lithographic steps were conducted: the first one is to define the resistors and Au/Cr lines/pads, the second and the third ones are to determine the width and the thickness of the square SiO2/Si diaphragm, respectively. The sensor diaphragm shape and thickness were defined by the anisotropic etching of Si in tetramethylammonium hydroxide (TMAH) solution, and the resistors array are formed by sputtering and wet etching method. The sensor size is ~6000 µm by 6000 µm. The sensor output voltage was measured for various applied pressure levels from 0 to 1.2 bar with 5V voltage supply. The fabricated sensor also exhibits a sensitivity of 50.01 mV/bar

A Hybrid Approach to Word Segmentation of Vietnamese Texts

    Get PDF
The original publication is available at www.springerlink.comInternational audienceWe present in this article a hybrid approach to automatically tokenize Vietnamese text. The approach combines both finite-state automata technique, regular expression parsing and the maximal-matching strategy which is augmented by statistical methods to resolve ambiguities of segmentation. The Vietnamese lexicon in use is compactly represented by a minimal finite-state automaton. A text to be tokenized is first parsed into lexical phrases and other patterns using pre-defined regular expressions. The automaton is then deployed to build linear graphs corresponding to the phrases to be segmented. The application of a maximal- matching strategy on a graph results in all candidate segmentations of a phrase. It is the responsibility of an ambiguity resolver, which uses a smoothed bigram language model, to choose the most probable segmentation of the phrase. The hybrid approach is implemented to create vnTokenizer, a highly accurate tokenizer for Vietnamese texts

Simple thermal-electrical model of photovoltaic panels with cooler-integrated sun tracker

    Get PDF
This paper presents a simple thermal-electrical model of a photovoltaic panel with a cooler-integrated sun tracker. Based on the model and obtained weather data, we analyzed the improved overall efficiency in a year as well as the performance in each typical weather case for photovoltaic panels with fixed-tilt systems with a tilt angle equal to latitude, fixed-tilt systems with cooler, a single-axis sun tracker, and a cooler-integrated single-axis sun tracker. The results show that on a sunny summer day with few clouds, the performance of the photovoltaic panels with the proposed system improved and reached 32.76% compared with the fixed-tilt systems. On a sunny day with clouds in the wet, rainy season, because of the low air temperature and the high wind speed, the photovoltaic panel temperature was lower than the cooler’s initial set temperature; the performance of the photovoltaic panel with the proposed system improved by 12.55% compared with the fixed-tilt system. Simulation results show that, over one year, the overall efficiency of the proposed system markedly improved by 16.35, 13.03, and 3.68% compared with the photovoltaic panel with the fixed-tilt system, the cooler, and the single-axis sun tracker, respectively. The simulation results can serve as a premise for future experimental models

This article describes the morphological characteristics of Dopasia gracilis (Gray, 1845) from Bach Ma National Park, Thua Thien-Hue province. The number of specimens in Bach Ma is bigger compared to description of Smith in 1935, and also Nguyen et al. in 2011. In Vietnam, D. gracilis has been reported from the following provinces: Cao Bang, Yen Bai, Ha Giang, Quang Binh, Quang Ngai and Gia Lai. So, in Bach Ma National Park it is the first record of this species distribution.NOI ÎNREGISTRĂRI ALE DOPASIA GRACILIS (SQUAMATA: ANGUIDAE) ÎN PARCUL NAȚIONAL BACH MA, PROVINCIA THUA THIEN-HUEÎn articol sunt descrise caracteristicile morfologice ale speciei Dopasia gracilis (Gray, 1845) din Parcul Național Bach Ma, provincia Thua Thien-Hue. Numărul specimenelor din Bach Ma este cu mult mai mare în comparație cu descrierea elaborată de Smith în 1935 şi de Nguyen et al. în 2011.
