Excitation Energy Dependence of the Exciton Inner Ring
We report on the excitation energy dependence of the inner ring in the
exciton emission pattern. The contrast of the inner ring is found to decrease
with lowering excitation energy. Excitation by light tuned to the direct
exciton resonance is found to effectively suppress excitation-induced heating
of indirect excitons and facilitate the realization of a cold and dense exciton
gas. The excitation energy dependence of the inner ring is explained in terms
of exciton transport and cooling.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
Conditioned reflex activity of rats at later periods after the end of flight aboard the Kosmos-605 biosatellite
The aftereffects of spaceflight on the higher nervous activity of rats were studied. A five lane maze with a feeding terminal was used to check such factors as transfer of experience, the habit and speed of reaching the goal in the maze, long term memory, and the dynamics of errors. During the 3rd-7th postflight week, functional disturbances in the rat HNA were manifested in the deterioration of the capacity for the transfer of experience and for locating the feeding compartment in the maze, thus indicating a general decrease of work capacity. The increased number of errors and failures pointed to exhaustion of higher nervous processes and to the weakened functional activity of the brain
Transport of Indirect Excitons in a Potential Energy Gradient
We realized a potential energy gradient - a ramp - for indirect excitons
using a shaped electrode at constant voltage. We studied transport of indirect
excitons along the ramp and observed that the exciton transport distance
increases with increasing density and temperature.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
Electrostatic Conveyer for Excitons
We report on the study of indirect excitons in moving lattices - conveyers
created by a set of AC voltages applied to the electrodes on the sample
surface. The wavelength of this moving lattice is set by the electrode
periodicity, the amplitude is controlled by the applied voltage, and the
velocity is controlled by the AC frequency. We observed the dynamical
localization-delocalization transition for excitons in the conveyers and
measured its dependence on the exciton density and conveyer amplitude and
velocity. We considered a model for exciton transport via conveyers. The
theoretical simulations are in agreement with the experimental data.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures + supplemental material including two video
The influence of motor activity on the development of cardiac arrhythmias during experimental emotional stress
Experimental emotional stress which can produce various disorders of cardiac rhythm: sinus tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, ventricular, extrasystoles and paroxysmal ventricular tachysystoles was studied. In these conditions the adrenalin content in the blood and myocardium is increased 3 to 4 times. It is found that moderate motor activity leads to a relative decrease of adrenalin in the myocardium and arrest of cardiac arrhythmias
Oxidative dehydrogenation of 2,3,5-trimethyl-1,4-hydroquinone in the presence of titanium dioxide hydrogel
Liquid-phase oxidative dehydrogenation of 2,3,5-trimethyl-1,4-hydroquinone in the presence of titanium dioxide hydrogel was studied by a kinetic method. Associative interactions between the substrate, oxidant, and gel were detected by voltammetry and ESR and IR spectroscopy.Russian Foundation for Basic Researc
The correlation between the psychological features of the personality with the structure of the values
In this work we rely on the understanding of the values essence and their structure offered by B. S. Alishev within his systemic-functional approach. In his opinion, it is necessary to distinguish fundamental values which are reflected in human mind and consciousness as the functional links between the subjective and the objective worlds that have the concrete modality caused due to their contents. In his concept it is also noted that fundamental values (such as good, freedom, justice, love, family, wellbeing, power, etc.) have different priority for certain people and are differently treated by them in the substantial plan, but anyway they are so deeply implanted in their mentality that very often cease to be realized by them. The paper analyzes the concept of value in terms of philosophical and psychological understanding. As a result of the study there were obtained statistically significant data showing different values of multiple correlation between the severity of different psychological traits of personality and a measure of priority for the person. Moreover, the connections can be both positive and negative
Optically Controlled Excitonic Transistor
Optical control of exciton fluxes is realized for indirect excitons in a
crossed-ramp excitonic device. The device demonstrates experimental proof of
principle for all-optical excitonic transistors with a high ratio between the
excitonic signal at the optical drain and the excitonic signal due to the
optical gate. The device also demonstrates experimental proof of principle for
all-optical excitonic routers
