Production subsidies - occasion for profitable farming in Lithuanian farmer's farm

Farmer’s farms in Lithuania are the ground farming conformation in countryside. Majority of farmer’s farms are the economically small sized with 10 ha of land property units. Plant growing and milk production in Lithuania is concentrated in farmers’ farms, and less production scope of eggs and meat. Scope of production is growing slowly, and intensity of production is less than in agricultural companies. After Lithuania’s entrance to European Union, appeared new possibilities to apply financial resources for farmers as financial support according which were increased their income. The most part of income per 1 ha got farms with developed horticulture and vegetable production, and minimal – small sized farms with 2 ESU as cereal-rape growing farms. For the most part of farmers income is EU and State financial support. The size of production subsidies is different according farmers’ size and specialization. The substantial support was rendered for organic farming. The financial support was not adequate to the farming results and gained society benefit

Incomes of farmers and the economic size of agricultural holding

Approved methodology of the calculation of economic size of agricultural holdings under the equal standard production profit is not precise. The aim of this article is to evaluate incomes of farmer's farms during the period 2003-2007, to reveal imperfection of the methodology for calculation of economic size of agricultural holdings and to present propose of its correction. In the article are presented and evaluated changes of farmer's farms incomes, determined dependence of farm incomes level from the size of the farm, type of farming, fecundity of agricultural land. There are presented imperfection of the methodology for calculation of economic size of agricultural holdings and proposes of its correctio
