Do correlations create an energy gap in electronic bilayers? Critical analysis of different approaches
This paper investigates the effect of correlations in electronic bilayers on
the longitudinal collective mode structure. We employ the dielectric
permeability constructed by means of the classical theory of moments. It is
shown that the neglection of damping processes overestimates the role of
correlations. We conclude that the correct account of damping processes leads
to an absence of an energy gap.Comment: 4 page
If jeremiah wrote it, it must be ok: on the attribution of lamentations to jeremiah in early rabbinic texts
Despite the absence of any formal attribution of the book of Lamentations to the prophet Jeremiah in the Hebrew Bible, the rabbis of the Talmudic period chose to perpetuate and reinforce this idea. The question explored is how this benefited them. Using Jorge Gracia’s discussion of the “pseudo-historical author,” the influence of the rabbinic assumption of Jeremiah’s authorship of Lamentations on their exegesis of the book is explored. The rabbis were troubled by a number of theologically challenging verses and the claim of authorship opened the door to their use of the book of Jeremiah to explain away these difficulties

This thesis focuses on the magnitude of political viability in managerial decision making in large corporate organizations . Political viability ls defined as perpetuating shrewdness to flourish one\u27s career within an organization.
Recent economic conditions and global competitiveness have forced corporations to examine their traditional managerial roles. As a result, many corporations have totally revamped goals and objectives in an attempt to present a clear and unobstructed vision of their mission.
Over the last decade research done by organizational psychologists, consultants, independent ·think· tanks, and decision experts have bombasted corporations with many management philosophies . Decision making is an integral part of all these management philosophies and political viability is an integral part of decision-making.
The purpose of this study ls to Investigate the possibility, that, within a large corporate organization, managers may bias decision making to ensure harmonious superior-subordinate relationships.
Specifically, it ls hypothesized that management decision making ls primarily driven by internal political viability rather than the business objectives in large corporations.
Ninety-six (96) managers participated in the evaluation. The subjects were administered a self-assessment survey for the purposes of distinguishing the political viability relationship as related to the subjects\u27 decision making processes. In all, 54 subjects responded for a 56% return ratio.
Each respondents\u27 selections were coded and tabulated. A frequency polygon (distribution) for raw scores showed 42.6% of the sample population were conducive to the HO, the null hypothesis, 9.2% were neutral, and 48.2% were presumed conducive to H1, the research hypothesis.
The inferential test was a t distribution with 53 degrees of freedom . Based on the critical t value, the obtained t value did not fall into the 5% probability area. Therefore, the null hypothesis could NOT be rejected and It cannot be statistically inferred that political viability exists within management decision- making in large corporations
Fano-like anti-resonances in strongly coupled binary Coulomb systems
Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations of a strongly coupled binary ionic
mixture have revealed the appearance of sharp minima in the species resolved
dynamical density fluctuation spectra. This phenomenon is reminiscent of the
well-known Fano anti-resonance, occurring in various physical processes. We
give a theoretical analysis using the Quasi Localized Charge Approximation, and
demonstrate that the observed phenomenon in the equilibrium spectrum is a novel
manifestation of the Fano mechanism, that occurs at characteristic frequencies
of the system different from the conventional classical Fano frequencies
Single shot parameter estimation via continuous quantum measurement
We present filtering equations for single shot parameter estimation using
continuous quantum measurement. By embedding parameter estimation in the
standard quantum filtering formalism, we derive the optimal Bayesian filter for
cases when the parameter takes on a finite range of values. Leveraging recent
convergence results [van Handel, arXiv:0709.2216 (2008)], we give a condition
which determines the asymptotic convergence of the estimator. For cases when
the parameter is continuous valued, we develop quantum particle filters as a
