Generalized Dynamic Factor Models for Mixed-Measurement Time Series
<div><p>In this article, we propose generalized Bayesian dynamic factor models for jointly modeling mixed-measurement time series. The framework allows mixed-scale measurements associated with each time series, with different measurements having different distributions in the exponential family conditionally on time-varying latent factor(s). Efficient Bayesian computational algorithms are developed for posterior inference on both the latent factors and model parameters, based on a Metropolis–Hastings algorithm with adaptive proposals. The algorithm relies on a Greedy Density Kernel Approximation and parameter expansion with latent factor normalization. We tested the framework and algorithms in simulated studies and applied them to the analysis of intertwined credit and recovery risk for Moody’s rated firms from 1982 to 2008, illustrating the importance of jointly modeling mixed-measurement time series. The article has supplementary materials available online.</p></div

<p>The fixed effect model was used in both overall and subgroup analyses. Each box represents the OR point estimate, and its area is proportional to the weight of the study. Diamond and broken lines represent the overall estimate, with 95%CI represented by the width. The solid vertical line is set at the null value (OR = 1.0).</p

An Efficient Total Synthesis of (−)-Epothilone B
An efficient total synthesis of (−)-epothilone B has been achieved in ca. 8% yield over 11 steps from <b>9</b> (or 10 steps from <b>7</b>/<b>8</b>), which features a bissiloxane-tethered ring closing metathesis reaction to approach the trisubstituted (<i>Z</i>) double bond and forms a new basis for further development of an industrial process for epothilone B and ixabepilone
Cu(I)-promoted one-pot click-SNAr reaction of nitrobenzaldehydes
<p>A series of 1,4-disubstituted 1,2,3-triazoles containing formyl was synthesized from a variety of readily available nitrobenzaldehydes and alkynes via a convenient one-pot, click-SNAr reaction with moderate to excellent yields. The reactions were easily carried out in hexamethyl phosphoramide in the absence of a base at 60 °C.</p
