Molecular Dynamics Computer Simulation of Crystal Growth and Melting in Al50Ni50
The melting and crystallization of Al50Ni50} are studied by means of
molecular dynamics computer simulations, using a potential of the embedded atom
type to model the interactions between the particles. Systems in a slab
geometry are simulated where the B2 phase of AlNi in the middle of an elongated
simulation box is separated by two planar interfaces from the liquid phase,
thereby considering the (100) crystal orientation. By determining the
temperature dependence of the interface velocity, an accurate estimate of the
melting temperature is provided. The value k=0.0025 m/s/K for the kinetic
growth coefficient is found. This value is about two orders of magnitude
smaller than that found in recent simulation studies of one-component metals.
The classical Wilson-Frenkel model is not able to describe the crystal growth
kinetics on a quantitative level. We argue that this is due to the neglect of
diffusion processes in the liquid-crystal interface.Comment: 6 pages, 6 figure
Self-synchronization of Kerr-nonlinear Optical Parametric Oscillators
We introduce a new, reduced nonlinear oscillator model governing the
spontaneous creation of sharp pulses in a damped, driven, cubic nonlinear
Schroedinger equation. The reduced model embodies the fundamental connection
between mode synchronization and spatiotemporal pulse formation. We identify
attracting solutions corresponding to stable cavity solitons and Turing
patterns. Viewed in the optical context, our results explain the recently
reported and steps in the phase spectrum of microresonator-based
optical frequency combs
Self-synchronization Phenomena in the Lugiato-Lefever Equation
The damped driven nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation (NLSE) has been used to
understand a range of physical phenomena in diverse systems. Studying this
equation in the context of optical hyper-parametric oscillators in
anomalous-dispersion dissipative cavities, where NLSE is usually referred to as
the Lugiato-Lefever equation (LLE), we are led to a new, reduced nonlinear
oscillator model which uncovers the essence of the spontaneous creation of
sharply peaked pulses in optical resonators. We identify attracting solutions
for this model which correspond to stable cavity solitons and Turing patterns,
and study their degree of stability. The reduced model embodies the fundamental
connection between mode synchronization and spatiotemporal pattern formation,
and represents a novel class of self-synchronization processes in which
coupling between nonlinear oscillators is governed by energy and momentum
conservation.Comment: This manuscript is published in Physical Review A. Copyright 2017 by

A Holistic Investigation on Terahertz Propagation and Channel Modeling Toward Vertical Heterogeneous Networks
User-centric and low latency communications can be enabled not only by small
cells but also through ubiquitous connectivity. Recently, the vertical
heterogeneous network (V-HetNet) architecture is proposed to backhaul/fronthaul
a large number of small cells. Like an orchestra, the V-HetNet is a polyphony
of different communication ensembles, including geostationary orbit (GEO), and
low-earth orbit (LEO) satellites (e.g., CubeSats), and networked flying
platforms (NFPs) along with terrestrial communication links. In this study, we
propose the Terahertz (THz) communications to enable the elements of V-HetNets
to function in harmony. As THz links offer a large bandwidth, leading to
ultra-high data rates, it is suitable for backhauling and fronthauling small
cells. Furthermore, THz communications can support numerous applications from
inter-satellite links to in-vivo nanonetworks. However, to savor this harmony,
we need accurate channel models. In this paper, the insights obtained through
our measurement campaigns are highlighted, to reveal the true potential of THz
communications in V-HetNets.Comment: It has been accepted for the publication in IEEE Communications

Maliyet liderliği stratejisi, toplam kalite yönetimi uygulamaları ve finansal performans ilişkisi
Firms need to implement some competition strategies and total quality management applications to overcome the fierce competition among others. The purpose of this study is to show the relationship between cost leadership strategy, total quality management applications and firms’ financial performance with literature review and empirical analysis. 449 questionnaires were conducted to the managers of 142 big firms. The data gathered was assessed with AMOS. As a result, the relationship between cost leadership strategy, total quality management applications and firms’ financial performance has been gathered. In addition, the relationship between TQM applications and financial performance has also been gathered.İşletmeler rekabetin üstesinden gelebilmek için bazı rekabet stratejileri ve toplam kalite yönetimi prensiplerini uygulama gereği duyarlar.

The Moderator Role of Psychological Capital Between Perceived Organizational Support and Work-Family Balance: A Service Sector Research
Studies on work-family conflict and balance are carried out in management/organization literature and these studies mostly focus on work-family conflict. It is thought that studying work-family relationship with a view of positive psychology and focusing the balance concept rather than conflict will result more positively. In studies conducted so far, it has been shown that there are meaningful effects of organizational support on work-family balance. However, although they are working in the same organization, taking the presence of people at odds with balancing between work and family into account, it is apparent that there are some personal factors inside. The studies in the literature tries to explain this problem with mostly general discrepancies in personalities such as age and gender and they seldom focus on psychological and cognitive background. The aim of this study is to search how the psychological capital of people play a role between perceived organizational support and work-family balance and to emphasize the psychological and cognitive background which was overlooked by other studies. Research hypotheses have been tested by SPSS and AMOS with the data gathered by field research and thus, it has been observed that psychological capital of people play a moderator role in the relationship between work and family balance with the support of organization and manager
Decreased mean platelet volume and increased platelet to lymphocyte ratio in patients with pterygium
Pterygium is a common disorder of the ocular surface characterized by collagen degeneration and overgrowth of fibrovascular tissue from the conjunctivae onto the cornea(1). The Neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), monocyte to lymphocyte ratio (MLR), platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and mean platelet volume (MPV) have all been explored as potential biomarkers for inflammation associated with ophthalmic diseases. In this study, we evaluated MPV, NLR, MLR and PLR and identified specific associations with the pathogenesis of pterygium
