Time-Dependent CP Asymmetries in B0 -> Ks pi0 gamma transitions

We report measurements of CP violation parameters in B0->Ks pi0 gamma transitions based on a data sample of 535x10^6 BB pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ e- collider. One neutral B meson is fully reconstructed in the B0->Ks pi0 gamma mode. The flavor of the accompanying B meson is identified from its decay products. For a Ks pi0 invariant mass up to 1.8 GeV/c^2, we obtain S = -0.10 +- 0.31 +- 0.07 and A = -0.20 +- 0.20 +- 0.06. For a Ks pi0 invariant mass near the K*0(892) resonance, we obtain S = -0.32 +0.36-0.33 +-0.05 and A=-0.20 +-0.24 +-0.05.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures, accepted by PR

Bounds on the width, mass difference and other properties of X(3872) --> pi+pi-J/psi decays

We present results from a study of X(3872) --> pi+pi- J/psi decays produced via exclusive B--> K X(3872) decays. We determine the mass to be M_X(3872)= (3871.84\pm 0.27 (stat)\pm 0.19 (syst)) MeV, a 90% CL upper limit on the natural width of Gamma_X(3872) K+X(3872))xBf(X(3872)-->pi+pi-J/psi)=(8.61 \pm 0.82(stat) \pm 0.52 (syst)) x10^{-6}, and a ratio of branching fractions Bf(B0--> K0 X(3872))/BF(B+--> K+ X(3872))=0.50\pm 0.14(stat)\pm0.04(syst). The difference in mass between the X(3872)-->pi+pi-J/psi signals in B+ and B0 decays is Delta M_{X(3872)= (-0.69 \pm 0.97 (stat)} \pm 0.19 (syst)) MeV. A search for a charged partner of the X(3872) in the decays Bbar0-->K- X+ or B+-->K0X+, X+-->pi+pi0 J/psi resulted in upper limits on the product branching fractions for these processes that are well below expectations for the case that the X(3872) is the neutral member of an isospin triplet. In addition, we examine possible J^{PC} quantum number assignments for the X(3872) based on comparisons of angular correlations between final state particles in X(3872)-->pi+pi-J/psi decays with simulated data for J^{PC} values of 1^{++} and 2^{-+}. We examine the influence of rho-omega interference in the M(pi+pi-) spectrum. The analysis is based on a 711fb^{-1} data sample that contains 772 million BBbar meson pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance in the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider.Comment: 15 pages, 10 figures and 6 tables. Search for CP Violation in the Decays D0KS0P0D^0\rightarrow K^0_S P^0

We have searched for CP violation in the decays D0KS0P0D^0\rightarrow K^0_S P^0 where P0P^0 denotes a neutral pseudo-scalar meson which is either a π0\pi^0, η\eta, or η\eta' using KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ee^+e^- collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 791 fb1^{-1} collected with the Belle detector. No evidence of significant CP violation is observed. We report the most precise CP asymmetry measurement in the decay D0KS0π0D^0\rightarrow K^0_S\pi^0 to date: ACPD0KS0π0=(0.28±0.19±0.10)A_{CP}^{D^0\rightarrow K^0_S\pi^0}=(-0.28\pm0.19\pm0.10)%. We also report the first measurements of CP asymmetries in the decays D0KS0ηD^0\rightarrow K^0_S\eta and D0KS0ηD^0\rightarrow K^0_S\eta': ACPD0KS0η=(+0.54±0.51±0.16)A_{CP}^{D^0\rightarrow K^0_S\eta}=(+0.54\pm0.51\pm0.16)% and ACPD0KS0η=(+0.98±0.67±0.14)A_{CP}^{D^0\rightarrow K^0_S\eta'}=(+0.98\pm0.67\pm0.14)%, respectively

Observation of Ds+ K- and evidence for Ds+ pi- final states in neutral B decays

We report the first observation of a B meson decay that is not accessible by a direct spectator process. The channel B0bar -> Ds+ K- is found in a sample of 85 timse 10^6 B Bbar events, collected with the Belle detector at KEKB, with a branching fraction Br(B0bar -> Ds+ K-)=(4.6^{+1.2}_{-1.1} +- 1.3) times 10^{-5}. We also obtain evidence for the B0 -> Ds+ pi- decay with branching fraction Br(B0 -> Ds+ pi-)=(2.4^{+1.0}_{-0.8} +- 0.7) times 10^{-5}. This value may be used to extract a model-dependent value of |Vub|.Comment: Accepted to publication in Phys. Rev. Let

Observation of chi_c2 Production in B-meson Decay

We report the first observation of chi_c2 production in B-meson decays. We find an inclusive B -> chi_c2 X branching fraction of (1.80^{+0.23}_{-0.28}+/- 0.26) 10^-3. The data set, collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e^+e^- collider, consists of 31.9 million B\bar B events. We also present branching fractions and momentum spectra for both chi_c1 and chi_c2 production.Comment: 5 pages with 2 figure

    Evidence for Direct CP Violation in B±ηh±B^\pm \to \eta h^\pm and Observation of B0ηK0B^0 \to \eta K^0

We report measurements of the branching fractions and CP asymmetries for B^+- -> eta h^+- (h = K or pi) and the observation of the decay B^0 -> eta K^0 from the final data sample of 772x10^6 BBbar pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^+e^- collider. The measured branching fractions are Br(B^+- -> eta K^+-) = (2.12 +- 0.23 +- 0.11)x10^-6}, Br(B^+- -> eta pi^+-) = (4.07 +- 0.26 +- 0.21)x10^{-6} and Br(B^0 -> eta K^0) = (1.27^{+0.33}_{-0.29} +- 0.08)x10^-6, where the last decay is observed for the first time with a significance of 5.4 standard deviations (\sigma). We also find evidence for CP violation in the charged B modes, A_{CP}(B^+- -> eta K^+-) = -0.38 +- 0.11 +- 0.01 and A_{CP}(B^+- -> eta pi^+- = -0.19 +- 0.06 +- 0.01 with significances of 3.8 sigma and 3.0 sigma, respectively. For all measurements, the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures, 1 tabl

Measurement of Inclusive Radiative B-meson Decays with a Photon Energy Threshold of 1.7 GeV

Using 605/fb of data collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance we present a measurement of the inclusive radiative B-meson decay channel, B to X_s gamma. For the lower photon energy thresholds of 1.7, 1.8, 1.9 and 2.0GeV, as defined in the rest frame of the B-meson, we measure the partial branching fraction and the mean and variance of the photon energy spectrum. At the 1.7GeV threshold we obtain the partial branching fraction BF(B to X_s gamma) = (3.45 +/- 0.15 +/- 0.40) x 10^-4, where the errors are statistical and systematic.Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures, 2 table

    Search for the Decay KLπ0μ+μK_L \to \pi^0 \mu^+ \mu^-

We report on a search for the decay \klpimumu carried out as a part of the KTeV experiment at Fermilab. This decay is expected to have a significant CPCP violating contribution and a direct measurement will either support the CKM mechanism for CP violation or point to new physics. Two events were observed in the 1997 data with an expected background of 0.87±0.150.87 \pm 0.15 events, and we set an upper limit \BR{\klpimumu} <3.8×1010 <3.8 \times 10^{-10} at the 90% confidence level.Comment: See also "Observation of the Decay KLμ+μγγK_L\to \mu^+\mu^- \gamma \gamma", also by the KTeV collaboratio
