    Get PDF
The use of clean energy (Solar, Wind etc) in other words, renewable energy is becoming more important for lowering global warming as the world becomes hotter as a result of global warming . The aim of this paper is to consume the maximum solar energy through solar panel. A Solar Tracker is a device onto which solar panels are built-in which tracks the motion of the sun ensuring that maximum amount of sunlight strikes the panels all over the day. Power output from a solar cell will be high when it is facing the sun. The components used for its construction are servo motor, Arduino Mega (microcontroller) and LDR. Light Dependent Resistors (LDRs) are used for sunlight detection. The active sensors continuously monitor the sunlight and alternate the panel towards the direction of the sun. Four light dependent resistors (LDR) have been used to trace the synchronization of sunlight by detecting brightness level of sunlight. For rotation, two standard servo motors are been used. The effectiveness of output power will increase when compared with the traditional model(Fixed solar panel)

Object recognition in a large scale collection of images has become an important application in machine vision. The recent advances in the object or image recognition for classification of objects shows that Bag-of-visual words approach is a better method for image classification problems. In this work, the effect of different possible parameters and performance evaluation of Bag of visual words approach in terms of their recognition performance such as Accuracy rate, Precision and F1 measure using 8 different classes of real world datasets that are commonly used in restaurant applications is explored. The system presented here is based on visual vocabulary. Features are extracted, clustered, trained and evaluated on an image database of 1600 images of different categories. To validate the obtained results,a performance evaluation on vehicle datasetsunder SURF and SIFT descriptors with Kmeans and K-medoid clustering and KNN classifier has been made. Among these SURF K-means performs better

    Get PDF
Background: Hypertensive disorder affects 10-12% of pregnancies. Identifying women, who are at risk is conducive to prompt gestational management. PAPP-A is a protein complex produced by the developing trophoblasts. Low levels of PAPP-A at 10–14 weeks is a marker of impaired placentation and a smaller placental mass. Doppler imaging permits non-invasive evaluation of the uteroplacental circulation and is invaluable in the management of high-risk pregnancies. The uterine artery Doppler screening identifies patients at risk for developing preeclampsia. To study the association of PAPP-A and the uterine artery Doppler changes as predictor of pre-eclampsia in pregnant women at 11-14 weeks of gestation. Methods: This was a prospective study of 150 pregnant women presenting at 11-14 weeks of gestation for a prenatal check-up. After considering the inclusion and exclusion criteria, serum samples for PAPP-A were assayed. Ultrasound Doppler was used to obtain uterine artery flow velocity waveforms and mean pulsatility index and resistance index of uterine arteries were calculated. Cases were followed up till term and observed for development of pre-eclampsia.Results: 48.6% had low serum PAPP-A levels, in which 77% developed PE. The Mean PI and RI is 2.34±1.16 and 0.58±0.1 respectively. 30% women with abnormal PI values and 24% of women with abnormal RI values developed PE.Conclusions: The combination of maternal history with low serum PAPP-A levels and abnormal uterine artery Doppler at 11-14 weeks can be used as predictor of pre-eclampsia

Background: Ovarian malignancy is one of the most common cancer in women and is diagnosed at later stage in majority. The limiting factor for early diagnosis is lack of standardized terms and procedures in gynaecological sonography. Recently, IOTA simple rules have been externally validated to have an increased sensitivity and specificity in diagnosing ovarian malignancy. Methods: This is a prospective study in the Department of obstetrics and gynaecology conducted at ESIC-MC & PGIMSR Hospital, Bangalore from January 2020 to June 2021. 50 women diagnosed with ovarian mass and scheduled for surgery were admitted and evaluated for nature of ovarian mass using IOTA simple rules on ultrasonography and correlated with their histopathological diagnosis. Results: Among 50 ovarian masses, all 38 masses (76%) characterized as benign by IOTA simple rules were true benign (100%) on histopathological diagnosis. 10 masses (20%) characterized as malignant, 9 were true malignant and 1 was false malignant on histopathological diagnosis. 2 cases which were inconclusive by IOTA simple rules were characterized as benign on histopathological diagnosis. Thus in our study test sensitivity was 100%, specificity 97.56%, positive predictive value 90% and negative predictive value 100%. Conclusions: In clinical practice, IOTA simple rules as a diagnostic tool helps in characterization of most ovarian masses, which aids in optimal management and enhance better outcome. In ovarian masses for which the rules yielded an inconclusive results, subjective assessment by an experienced sonologist is advocatedd

Newer drugs for the treatment of hepatitis B viral infection

    Get PDF
One of the main disadvantages of hepatitis B virus treatment is the persistence of the virus even after treatment. The main causes of this viral persistence can be an inadequacy of the immune function as well as some viral factors. The currently available drugs for hepatitis B are five oral nucleoside/nucleotide analogs (lamivudine, adefovir dipivoxil, tenofovir, entecavir, telbivudine) and two interferon drugs (interferon alfa-2b, pegylated interferon alfa-2a). However, these therapies do not lead to sustained remission, requiring indefinite treatment as viral load frequently rebounds once suppressive therapy is stopped

Background: Hypertension is a major independent risk factor for coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, stroke, chronic kidney disease and peripheral vascular diseases if left untreated. Drug utilization study of antihypertensive drugs and the study on prevalence of blood pressure control would help in reducing the burden of the disease and health expenditure. Methods: The study was conducted in the Outpatient Department of Medicine in Government Medical College, Thrissur. Patients aged 18yrs or above diagnosed with hypertension, on antihypertensive drugs were enrolled in the study. Patients suffering from secondary hypertension and acutely ill were excluded. Patients were enrolled after taking an informed consent. Demographic data, present treatment for hypertension, associated co- morbid conditions if any, and treatment of the same were recorded. BP was recorded, and cost of treatment was calculated using CIMS.Results: A total of 250 patients were included in the study. Mono therapy was used in 64.8% patients and combination therapy in 35.2%. Overall drug utilization pattern showed that CCBs (42.8%) were most commonly prescribed, followed by ACEIs (32.4%) and ARBs (29.2%). Most commonly prescribed combination therapy was ACE I + BB (29.3%), followed by ARB + CCB (21.3%). Mean cost of antihypertensive drug therapy was 3057.8 Rs / yr. Recommended target BP was achieved in 49.6% of patients. Conclusions: The prescription pattern of antihypertensive drug was in accordance to the JNC-VIII guidelines. The blood pressure target was achieved only in less than 50% of patients

Now-a-days there are many matrimonial websites which are not used properly due to the problems like they are commercial and not reliable. The proposed system, Lifemate, is a matrimonial website developed to enhance reliability with less problems. This helps in searching for genuine brides and grooms as this is only for known group which involved registration with reference. The system enables to decide on to remain honest in efforts of marital and deliver the most effective results while not charging something. The seriousness about the concern is finding the suitable right life partner basing on preferences. Finally, matrimonial matchmaking is not just a business, but also a social cause. This attitude makes Lifemate unique amongst hundreds of other Matrimony and Matrimonial web sites. Reliable matches are selected by drawing decision tree by using Hunt’s algorithm. A decision tree may be a structure that has a root node, branches, and leaf nodes. Every internal node denotes a check on associate degree attribute, every branch denotes the end result of a check, and each leaf node holds a category label. The top node within the tree is that the root node. The decision making using Hunt’s algorithm is reliable and the preferences are not hindered

    Get PDF
A study was carried out to characterize and classify major coconut-growing soils of southern Karnataka and to evaluate the suitability of these soils for coconut cultivation. Seven locations were selected on the map of coconut-growing areas in southern Karnataka and delineated based on the variability of agro-climate with the help of land resource map and report of Karnataka state, generated at 2,50,000 scale by ICAR-NBSSLUP. The regions included Hosadurga (central dry zone), Gubbi and Turuvekere (eastern dry zone), Krishnarajapet (southern dry zone), Arasikere (southern transition zone), Belthangadi and Brahmavara (coastal zone) representing the density of coconut-growing areas in different agro-climatic zones. Soil profiles were studied at these selected sites. The coconut growing soils of southern Karnataka are generally deep, gravelly and well drained, sandy clay loam to clayey in texture with good structure. Soils of high rainfall areas of Belthangadi and Brahmavara were strongly acidic and rich in soil organic carbon, whereas other locations of sub-humid to semi-arid were near neutral to moderately alkaline soils with medium organic carbon content. Cation Exchange Capacity and base saturation were very low in coastal red and lateritic coconut soils and ranged from medium to high in other areas. The major taxa of the soils identified at sub-group level of soil taxonomy are Rhodic Kanhaplustults, Ustic Kandihumults, Rhodic Paleustalfs, Typic Rhodustalfs and Vertic Haplustepts
