    Dressed Power-law Inflation with Cuscuton

    We study dressed inflation with a cuscuton and find a novel exact power-law solution. It is well known that the conventional power-law inflation is inconsistent with the Planck data. In contrast to this standard lore, we find that power-law inflation with a cuscuton can be reconciled with the Planck data. Moreover, we argue that the cuscuton generally ameliorates inflation models so that predictions are consistent with observations.Comment: 10 page

Its mission is to provide the community with pouch bags that feature sustainability, affordability, and durability, promoting the Philippines’ indigenous designs using locally sourced materials such as Abaca and cotton canvas. Hiraya’s vision is to create a convenient and practical experience for the general lifestyle of the people by catering local products. The owner formed a business venture with his co-students in the ABM Strand, namely: Aeriel Punzalan (operations), Jarvis Servino (financial), Katriona Ureta (marketing), Jin Ha Kim (human resource), and Jiro Mhaye Salayo (advertising). The officers possess individual skills related to their departments, such as leadership, project management, and marketing, contributing to the development of Hiraya. The business took the opportunity to sell products through the online platform, reaching millennials and Gen-Z as its target market. The business’s location was strategically placed in Laguna. The venture considers itself to be different from its competitors as it features an accented Abaca design inspired by local Kalinga tattoo artists in its products. In terms of the initial capital, the business had invested Php 31,500 to operate. The capital was able to produce 120 bags, costing Php 349 each (39.6% mark-up). Once the break-even is reached, Hiraya intends to diversify its products by putting another Php 27,488 for capital. Hiraya plans to continually expand in the future to remain true to its cause in helping indigenous people as part of its social responsibility

    Evolution of Cosmological Perturbations in the Brane World

    The evolution of the cosmological perturbations is studied in the context of the Randall-Sundrum brane world scenario, in which our universe is realized on a three-brane in the five dimensional Anti-de Sitter(AdS) spacetime. We develop a formalism to solve the coupled dynamics of the cosmological perturbations in the brane world and the gravitational wave in the AdS bulk. Using our formalism, the late time evolution of the cosmological scalar perturbations at any scales larger than the AdS curvature scale ll is shown to be identical with the one obtained in the conventional 4D cosmology, provided the effect of heavy graviton modes may be neglected. Here the late time means the epoch when the Hubble horizon H−1H^{-1} in the 4D brane world is sufficiently larger than the AdS curvature scale ll. If the inflation occurs sufficiently lower than l−1l^{-1}, the scalar temperature anisotropies in the Cosmic Microwave Background at large scales can be calculated using the constancy of the Bardeen parameter as is done in the 4D cosmology. The assumption of the result is that the effect of the massive graviton with mass me−α0>l−1m e^{-\alpha_0}>l^{-1} in the brane world is negligible, where eα0e^{\alpha_0} is the scale factor of the brane world.     Bulk Gravitational Field and Cosmological Perturbations on the Brane

    We investigate the effect of the bulk gravitational field on the cosmological perturbations on a brane embedded in the 5D Anti-de Sitter (AdS) spacetime. The effective 4D Einstein equations for the scalar cosmological perturbations on the brane are obtained by solving the perturbations in the bulk. Then the behaviour of the corrections induced by the bulk gravitational field to the conventional 4D Einstein equation are determined. Two types of the corrections are found. First we investigate the corrections which become significant at scales below the AdS curvature scales and in the high energy universe with the energy density larger than the tension of the brane. The evolution equation for the perturbations on the brane is found and solved. Another type of the corrections is induced on the brane if we consider the bulk perturbations which do not contribute to the metric perturbations but do contribute to the matter perturbations. At low energies, they have imaginary mass m^2=-(2/3) \k^2 in the bulk where \k is the 3D comoving wave number of the perturbations. They diverge at the horizon of the AdS spacetime. The induced density perturbations behave as sound waves with sound velocity 1/31/\sqrt{3} in the low energy universe. At large scales, they are homogeneous perturbations that depend only on time and decay like radiation. They can be identified as the perturbations of the dark radiation. They produce isocurvature perturbations in the matter dominated era. Their effects can be observed as the shifts of the location and the height of the acoustic peak in the CMB spectrum.Comment: 35 pages, 1 figur

    Quantum Fluctuations of Bulk Inflaton in Inflationary Brane World

    The inflationary scenario for the brane world driven by the bulk inflaton is proposed. The quantum fluctuations of the inflaton is calculated and compared to those of the conventional 4-dimensional inflationary scenario. It is shown that the deviation of the primordial spectrum of this model from that of the conventional one is too small to be observed even if AdSAdS radius is very large. Hence, it turns out that the inflation caused by the bulk inflaton is viable in the context of brane world cosmology.Comment: 14 pages, 2 figure

    Radionic Non-uniform Black Strings

    Non-uniform black strings in the two-brane system are investigated using the effective action approach. It is shown that the radion acts as a non-trivial hair of the black strings. From the brane point of view, the black string appears as the deformed dilatonic black hole which becomes dilatonic black hole in the single brane limit and reduces to the Reissner-Nordstr\"om black hole in the close limit of two-branes. The stability of solutions is demonstrated using the catastrophe theory. From the bulk point of view, the black strings are proved to be non-uniform. Nevertheless, the zeroth law of black hole thermodynamics still holds.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figure

    Clinical characteristics, management strategies and outcomes of patients with recurrent venous thromboembolism in the real world

    There is a paucity of data on management strategies and clinical outcomes after recurrent venous thromboembolism (VTE). In a multicenter registry enrolling 3027 patients with acute symptomatic VTE, the current study population was divided into the following 3 groups: (1) First recurrent VTE during anticoagulation therapy (N = 110); (2) First recurrent VTE after discontinuation of anticoagulation therapy (N = 116); and (3) No recurrent VTE (N = 2801). Patients with first recurrent VTE during anticoagulation therapy more often had active cancer (45, 25 and 22%, P < 0.001). Among 110 patients with first recurrent VTE during anticoagulation therapy, 84 patients (76%) received warfarin at recurrent VTE with the median prothrombin time-international normalized ratio (PT-INR) value at recurrent VTE of 1.6, although patients with active cancer had a significantly higher median PT-INR value at recurrent VTE compared with those without active cancer (2.0 versus 1.4, P < 0.001). Within 90 days after recurrent VTE, 23 patients (20.9%) during anticoagulation therapy and 24 patients (20.7%) after discontinuation of anticoagulation therapy died. Active cancer was a major cause of recurrent VTE during anticoagulation therapy as a patient-related factor, while sub-optimal intensity of anticoagulation therapy was a major cause of recurrent VTE during anticoagulation therapy as a treatment-related factor, particularly in patients without active cancer
