Connecting Software Metrics across Versions to Predict Defects
Accurate software defect prediction could help software practitioners
allocate test resources to defect-prone modules effectively and efficiently. In
the last decades, much effort has been devoted to build accurate defect
prediction models, including developing quality defect predictors and modeling
techniques. However, current widely used defect predictors such as code metrics
and process metrics could not well describe how software modules change over
the project evolution, which we believe is important for defect prediction. In
order to deal with this problem, in this paper, we propose to use the
Historical Version Sequence of Metrics (HVSM) in continuous software versions
as defect predictors. Furthermore, we leverage Recurrent Neural Network (RNN),
a popular modeling technique, to take HVSM as the input to build software
prediction models. The experimental results show that, in most cases, the
proposed HVSM-based RNN model has a significantly better effort-aware ranking
effectiveness than the commonly used baseline models
Linking supply chain quality integration with mass customization and product modularity
Supply chain quality management has received increasing attention from researchers and practitioners in recent years. However, the knowledge about the effects of a manufacturer's design and production capabilities on supply chain quality management is limited. In this study, we propose a model to investigate the effects of mass customization and product modularity on supply chain quality integration (i.e. internal, supplier, and customer quality integration) and the impact of supply chain quality integration on competitive performance. We use data collected from 317 global manufacturers to empirically test the conceptual model. The results show that mass customization and product modularity directly improve internal quality integration, and product modularity also improves internal quality integration indirectly through mass customization. Product modularity improves supplier quality integration directly, and both mass customization and product modularity improve supplier quality integration indirectly through internal quality integration. Mass customization improves customer quality integration both directly and indirectly through internal quality integration, and product modularity improves customer quality integration indirectly through mass customization and internal quality integration. We also find that supplier quality integration directly enhances competitive performance, and internal quality integration enhances competitive performance both directly and indirectly through supplier quality integration. Our findings contribute to production and quality management literature and practices
Multi-parameter comprehensive early warning of coal pillar rockburst risk based on DNN
A multi-parameter comprehensive early warning method for coal pillar-type rockburst risk based on the deep neural network (DNN) is proposed in this study. By utilizing preprocessed data from the surveillance of coal pillar impact hazards in Yangcheng Coal Mine, this study incorporates training samples derived from three distinct coal pillar-type impact hazard monitoring methodologies: microseismic monitoring, borehole cutting analysis, and real-time stress monitoring. The data characteristics of the monitoring data were extracted, evaluated, classified, and verified by monitoring the data of different working faces. This method was applied to develop the depth of multi-parameter neural network comprehensive early warning software in engineering practice. The results showed that the accuracy of the depth for burst monitoring data processing is improved by 6.89%–16.87% compared to the traditional monitoring methods. This method has a better early warning effect to avoid the occurrence of coal pillar rockburst hazard

Then, three lipophilic folate derivatives (folate-polyethylene glycol-distearoylphosphatidylethanolamine, folate-polyethylene glycol-cholesteryl hemisuccinate, and folate-polyethylene glycol-cholesterol) used as a surfactant were added to curcumin-loaded SMEDDS formulations. An in situ colon perfusion method in rats was used to optimize the formulation of FSMEDDS. Curcumin-loaded FSMEDDS was then filled into colon-targeted capsules and the in vitro release was investigated. Cytotoxicity studies and cellular uptake studies was used in this research. Results: The optimal formulation of FSMEDDS obtained with the established in situ colon perfusion method in rats was comprised of 57.5% Cremophor® EL, 32.5% Transcutol® HP, 10% Capryol™ 90, and a small amount of folate-polyethylene glycol-cholesteryl hemisuccinate (the weight ratio of folate materials to Cremophor EL was 1:100). The in vitro release results indicated that the obtained formulation of curcumin could reach the colon efficiently and release the drug immediately. Cellular uptake studies analyzed with fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry indicated that the FSMEDDS formulation could efficiently bind with the folate receptors on the surface of positive folate receptors cell lines. In addition, FSMEDDS showed greater cytotoxicity than SMEDDS in the above two cells. Conclusion: FSMEDDS-filled colon-targeted capsules are a potential carrier for colon delivery of curcumin. Keywords: curcumin, SMEDDS, folate receptor, colon targetin

The role of brevican in glioma: promoting tumor cell motility in vitro and in vivo
Background: Malignant glioma is a common primary tumor of the central nervous system. Brevican, an abundant extracellular matrix component in the adult brain, plays a critical role in the process of glioma. The mechanisms for the highly invasive behavior of gliomas are still poorly understood. The aim of this study was to examine whether brevican is a predictor of glioma and its roles in glioma cell motility. Methods: In this study, immunohistochemistry staining for brevican expression was performed in malignant gliomas and benign controls. We also explored the effects of brevican on cell adhesion and migration in brevican-overexpressed cells. Knockdown of brevican expression was achieved by stable transfection of U251 cells transduced with a construct encoding a short hairpin DNA directed against the brevican gene, which correspondingly, down-regulated the proliferation, invasion and spread of brevican-expressing cells. Moreover, the role of brevican in the growth and progression of glioma was demonstrated by in vivo studies. Results: Our results provide evidence for the molecular and cellular mechanisms that may underlie the motility-promoting role of brevican in the progression of glioma. The role of brevican as a target for immunotherapy might be taken into consideration in future studies. Conclusions: This study suggests that expression of brevican is associated with glioma cell adhesion, motility and tumor growth, and also is related to glioma cell differentiation, therefore it may be a marker for malignance degree of gliom
