Non-point source water pollution mainly comes from farmland chemical fertilizers which has become an obstacle of agricultural sustainability and ecological health. As a public policy tool for assessing global ecological crisis and environmental pollution, ecological compensation is important for regional agricultural sustainability. Ecological compensation that farmers receive from governments is based on their reduction of fertilizer application at optimal ecological and economic levels. In this study we estimated the ecological compensation standards for nitrogen non-point pollution in Yixng city with contingent valuation method and cost-benefit method. Results showed that the range of theoretical values of ecological compensation of nitrogen in Yixing City depended upon its optimal ecological and economic nitrogen application levels. The willingness of farmers to accept the compensation was positively correlated with their farming experience and education. There were about half of farmers willing to accept the compensation. Based on the present study, we found Yixing’s ecological compensation standard for controlling nitrogen non-point pollution was 620.0 yuan/hm2 at the current economic development level.

CREATOR: Tool Creation for Disentangling Abstract and Concrete Reasoning of Large Language Models

Large Language Models (LLMs) have made significant progress in utilizing tools, but their ability is limited by API availability and the instability of implicit reasoning, particularly when both planning and execution are involved. To overcome these limitations, we propose CREATOR, a novel framework that enables LLMs to create their own tools using documentation and code realization. CREATOR disentangles abstract tool creation and concrete decision execution, resulting in improved performance. We evaluate CREATOR on MATH and TabMWP benchmarks, respectively consisting of challenging math competition problems and diverse tabular contents. Remarkably, CREATOR outperforms existing chain-of-thought, program-of-thought, and tool-using baselines. Additionally, we introduce the Creation Challenge dataset, featuring 2K diverse questions, to emphasize the necessity and benefits of LLMs' tool creation ability. Further research demonstrates that leveraging LLMs as tool creators facilitates knowledge transfer, and LLMs exhibit varying levels of tool creation abilities, enabling them to adapt to diverse situations. The tool creation ability revolutionizes the LLM's problem-solving paradigm, driving us closer to the next frontier of artificial intelligence. All the codes and data are released

Spatially resolved transcriptomic technologies are promising tools to study complex biological processes such as mammalian embryogenesis. However, the imbalance between resolution, gene capture, and field of view of current methodologies precludes their systematic application to analyze relatively large and three-dimensional mid- and late-gestation embryos. Here, we combined DNA nanoball (DNB)-patterned arrays and in situ RNA capture to create spatial enhanced resolution omics-sequencing (Stereo-seq). We applied Stereo-seq to generate the mouse organogenesis spatiotemporal transcriptomic atlas (MOSTA), which maps with single-cell resolution and high sensitivity the kinetics and directionality of transcriptional variation during mouse organogenesis. We used this information to gain insight into the molecular basis of spatial cell heterogeneity and cell fate specification in developing tissues such as the dorsal midbrain. Our panoramic atlas will facilitate in-depth investigation of longstanding questions concerning normal and abnormal mammalian development. This work is part of the ‘‘SpatioTemporal Omics Consortium’’ (STOC) paper package. It is a challenge to research and develop silicon surfactants with good acid and alkali stability. In the present paper, methylpropenyl polyether modified nonionic silicone surfactant (MPNTS), an alkali-resistant and hydrolysis-resistant silicone surfactant, was synthesized by hydrosilylation of 1,1,1,3,5,5,5-heptamethyl trisiloxane (MDHM) and methylpropenyl polyether (EO(7)). The polyether segments are grafted onto the main chain of organosilicon heptamethyl trisiloxane at a molar ratio of 1:1.05 (n(Si-H):n(C=C)). To evidence product formation, the MPNTS were analyzed by FT-IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. The surface tension of NPNTS is 18.68 mN/m, and the CMC value is 78 mg/L by a contact angle tester. MPTNS shows hydrolytic stability and maintains that it could keep surface activity after standing for 60 days at pH = 7–10. The compatibility performance analysis shows that MPNTS has good compatibility and synergy with cationic, anionic, and nonionic surfactants, and it reveals the application prospects in daily chemicals, agricultural adjuvants, and other products

The nanomaterial of graphene oxide grafting poly (N-isopropylacrylamide) (GO-g-PNIPAAm) was synthesized and PVDF/GO-g-PNIPAAm blended membranes were fabricated by wet phase inversion. In this work, a hydrophilic nanomaterial GO-g-PNIPAAm with poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) grafted on GO, was synthesized by the atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) method. The resulting nanomaterial was confirmed by scanning electron microscope (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectrum, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis. The synthesized GO-g-PNIPAAm was incorporated with polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) via phase inversion, and investigated for its temperature sensitivity, porosity, contact angle, scanning electron microscopy, and permeate properties. The water contact angle measurements confirmed that GO-g-PNIPAAm nanomaterial-endowed PVDF membranes with better hydrophilicity and thermo-responsive properties compared with those of the pristine PVDF membranes. Bovine serum albumin (BSA) adsorption experiments suggested that excellent antifouling properties of membranes were acquired after adding GO-g-PNIPAAm. The modified membranes showed good performance when the doping amount of GO-g-PNIPAAm was 0.2 wt %

Gasoline is one of the most consumed light petroleum products in transportation and other industries. This paper proposes a method for optimizing gasoline octane loss using data analysis technology aimed at optimizing the production process and minimizing the loss of gasoline octane. Firstly, the data are screened and the high-dimensional data are reduced to construct the neural network prediction model optimized by genetic algorithm. After utilizing the model for prediction, the optimal operating condition is achieved. Secondly, ensuring that the gasoline emission meets the standard, the octane loss is reduced by adjusting the operating variables. Thirdly, actual data are collected and calculated to obtain the main operating variables and their optimal operating conditions of a petrochemical company affecting the catalytic cracking gasoline S-Zorb unit, thus providing companies using S-Zorb units with reference data for optimizing gasoline catalytic cracking processes. Fourthly, the superiority of the proposed method was verified by comparing it with the other methods. This paper intends to contribute to better modeling the progress of gasoline catalytic cracking by adequately considering the impact of multiple factors, improving the quality of refined oil products of chemical enterprises, saving the economic cost of chemical enterprises, and protecting the atmospheric environment

No full text
Bone injuries are common in clinical practice. Given the clear disadvantages of autologous bone grafting, more efficient and safer bone grafts need to be developed. Bone is a multidirectional and anisotropic piezoelectric material that exhibits an electrical microenvironment; therefore, electrical signals play a very important role in the process of bone repair, which can effectively promote osteoblast differentiation, migration, and bone regeneration. Piezoelectric materials can generate electricity under mechanical stress without requiring an external power supply; therefore, using it as a bone implant capable of harnessing the body’s kinetic energy to generate the electrical signals needed for bone growth is very promising for bone regeneration. At the same time, devices composed of piezoelectric material using electromechanical conversion technology can effectively monitor the structural health of bone, which facilitates the adjustment of the treatment plan at any time. In this paper, the mechanism and classification of piezoelectric materials and their applications in the cell, tissue, sensing, and repair indicator monitoring aspects in the process of bone regeneration are systematically reviewed
