Two-point correlation function of an exclusion process with hole-dependent rates
We consider an exclusion process on a ring in which a particle hops to an
empty neighbouring site with a rate that depends on the number of vacancies
in front of it. In the steady state, using the well known mapping of this model
to the zero range process, we write down an exact formula for the partition
function and the particle-particle correlation function in the canonical
ensemble. In the thermodynamic limit, we find a simple analytical expression
for the generating function of the correlation function. This result is applied
to the hop rate for which a phase transition between
high-density laminar phase and low-density jammed phase occurs for . For
these rates, we find that at the critical density, the correlation function
decays algebraically with a continuously varying exponent . We also
calculate the two-point correlation function above the critical density, and
find that the correlation length diverges with a critical exponent
for . These results are compared with
those obtained using an exact series expansion for finite systems.Comment: Accepted in Phys. Rev.
NEOLIBERALIZING THE STREETS OF URBAN INDIA: ENGAGEMENTS OF A FREE MARKET THINK TANK IN THE POLITICS OF STREET HAWKING
This dissertation looks into the processes by which neoliberalism is mutating with various local and global discourses in order to transform urban space for marginalized street hawkers in the Global South, specifically Delhi, India. Following the current engagements in geographic literature on neoliberalism that focus on the contextually embedded character and the path-dependent process of the spread of free market ideas, I make free market advocacy think tanks--a rather unknown and under-investigated accomplice to this process--my main entry point. Corporate funded think tanks are often found advocating a neoliberal doctrine of free markets, minimal government intervention, and privatization. A self-professed civil society organization, the Center for Civil Society (CCS) in Delhi is one of the first neoliberal, national and foreign corporation funded, advocacy think tanks in India and one of its many agendas is to counter the popular belief that neoliberalism is harmful for the urban poor such as street hawkers.
Various NGOs, social workers, scholars, academicians, and think tanks including CCS came together to form the National Policy of Street Vendors, 2009 (NPSV), one of the first policy proposals in modern India to tackle the problems of urban spaces of street vending. Through my investigations I wish to highlight the neoliberal attitudes that are concealed in this policy regarding street hawkers. By bringing these neoliberal undertones to the forefront, this dissertation discusses how this so called “pro-hawking” policy that is being pushed to be implemented in the majority of Indian cities is in fact hostile to hawkers. I demonstrate this fact by explaining that NPSV and its proponents view space as a capitalist commodity and are attempting to transform the rich social spaces of Indian city streets into hollow container spaces of capitalist production and consumption. In this way, this dissertation connects macro spaces of governance such as city streets to the micro spaces of governmentality such as think tanks like CCS

Business in practice learnings of innovation strategist
This dissertation combines personal reflection and firm analysis under the title “Innovation
Strategist learnings go BTS: Behind the Scenes of BTS Co.” Its main objective was to analyze
how the firm performed in business simulation and support discussion with academic learnings
while emphasizing on three business functions: Strategy, Innovation and Finance, and aims to
bring the light on the experiences of an executive member by evaluating two critical incidents
during the period of simulation. I will discuss two incidents that I experienced as a Director of
Innovation, my approach towards them, my learnings, and lessons that will remain with me in
my future endeavor
NEUROPHYSIOLOGICAL AND BEHAVIOURAL PERTURBATIONS IN Caenorhabditis elegans EXPOSED TO ORGANOPHOSPHATE PESTICIDES
The ubiquitous use of pesticides all over the world leads to adverse effects on both targets as well as non-target species. The extensive and uncontrolled use of organophosphates (OPs), a large group of pesticidal compounds in agricultural and household products are resulting in high exposure to humans. This research has been carried out to study the adverse effect of OPs i.e., chlorpyrifos, trichlorfon, and disulfoton on model organism Caenorhabditis elegans to evaluate their behavioural as well as developmental toxicity at different time intervals i.e., 4, 24, 48, and 72 hours (hrs) of exposure. A significant difference was observed in all the behavioural endpoints like locomotion, egg-laying, offspring count, and learning along with developmental parameters like mortality, paralysis, and growth rendering from moderate to high toxic effects. Based on the above screening, trichlorfon resulted in glutamatergic and cholinergic neurodegeneration along with elevated autofluorescence. Loss in Yellow fluorescent Protein (YFP) and Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) was recorded by 57.96% and 30.52% using transgenic strains OH11124 (otIs388 [eat-4(fosmid)::SL2::YFP::H2B + (pBX)pha-1(+)] III) and OH13083 (otIs576 [unc-17(fosmid)::GFP + lin-44::YFP]). These results have shown the biological potency of toxicants in C. elegans and pave the way forward to provide insight into various neurogenerative diseases in humans
Why Performance Testing
This paper introduces Benefits of performance testing in organizations. To understand the importance, it is very necessary to know what Performance is testing, why it should be or when it should be performed. Performance testing means to validate the applications/ systems reliability, scalability, stability. If testing is not performed properly then it can produce catastrophic results. Depression among Adolescent Students in a Rural Block of Haryana: A Cross Sectional Study
Background: Depression among adolescent is an area of increasing concern worldwide. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of depression among school going adolescents in government and private schools in a rural area of block Beri of Haryana. Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted in a sample size of 600 students (300 males and 300 females) studying in class 8th to 12th. A pre designed, pre tested tool SCL 90 R containing 90 items was used to screen depression in these students. Depression is one of the psychiatric morbidity screened by this tool. Cut off point of estimated raw score of 1 was used to label as depression. All the statistical analysis was carried out using SPSS 20. Results: The overall prevalence of depression was found to be 39.1% with mild depression to be 33.1% and moderate to severe depression to be 6%. Depression was significantly more among female students (45%) than male students (33.3%). Overall prevalence of depression significantly increased with age. It was found to be 34.3% among 13-14 years age-group, 41% among 15-16 years age-group and 57.1% among 17-19 years age-group. The association of depression with other socio demographic profile like socio economic status, literacy level of mother and father, employment status of mother was found to be non-significant. Conclusion: It is concluded from the present study that more than one – third (39%) of school adolescents suffered from depression. Reasons for such high prevalence of depression need to be determined. At the same time teachers and parents should be made aware of this problem and appropriate counselling of students should be done through regular school-based screening programme.
