Wacana kekerasan simbolik menghadirkan pemajangan atau display tubuh wanita sebagai objek tontonan untuk memenuhi hasrat laki-laki, dan sebagai objek imajinasi serta fantasi seksual laki-laki. Ini terkait dengan wacana seksualitas di ruang maya yang menawarkan kebebasan tanpa batas untuk berpartisipasi dalam segala bentuk, sehingga terjadi pergeseran ke arah hypersexuality yang sulit diterima akal sehat karena sudah terlalu melebihi kondisi normal. Pada perburuan popularitas dalam kebudayaan pop, terdapat kecenderungan di antara para artis wanita untuk mengadakan semacam ‘migrasi simbolik' — pergantian atau perpindahan simbol-simbol yang dikenakan seseorang untuk menjaga citra dirinya di mata orang lain. Dalam perspektif inilah Perubahan tatanan simbolik dan budaya citra dikritisi sebagai sebuah siasat atau trik yang beroperasi di Balik logika kapitalisme untuk bertahan dalam arus percepatan citra — dan bukannya suatu perwujudan dari pencerahan jiwa

A survey of the fisheries of River Niger at Yauri, Kebbi State

A survey of the fisheries of river Niger at Yauri was conducted with the aid of questionnaires administered randomly at four (4) landing sites of Tashan Kasuwa (main market), Gidan-ruwa, Yabon-ruwa and Hutawa. A total of fifty (50) questionnaires were administered in all the villages. From the research work it was found that 76 % of the fishermen operate on full time basis while 24 % operate on part time basis. Out of the 50 fishermen interviewed only 46% were licensed to operate there. The type of fishing gears and equipments used in Yauri are hook and line, cast net, gill net and seine net. About 46 % of the fishermen were found using mesh size less than 2.0 cm. The dominant fish species caught during flood and dry seasons include Clarias spp., Lates niloticus respectively. Higher catches are made in the months of March and April. All the fishermen interviewed (100%) do not process their fish but disposed them off fresh. Sixty percent of the fishermen belong to different cooperative societies, while 40% do not belong to any cooperative society. The problem associated with fishing operation at Yauri includes that of lack of credit facilities, lack of extension agents, and high cost of fishing items, poor road network and remote location of the fishing village

Efficiency improvement of LDO ouput based linear regulator with supercapacitor energy recovery - a versatile new technique with an example of a 5v to 1.5 v version

Supercapacitors are used in various industrial applications and the supercapacitors technology is gradually progressing into a mature state. Common applications of supercapacitors are in electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and in portable devices such as cellular phones and laptops. The capacitance values range from fractional Farads to few thousand Farads and their continuos DC voltage ratings are from 2V to 6V. At University of Waikato, a team works on using supercapacitors for improving the efficiency of linear voltage regulators. In particular, this patented technique aims at combining off the shelfs LDO ICs and a supercapacitor array for improving end to end efficiency of linear regulator. My work is aimed at developing the theoretical background and designing prototype circuitry for a voltage regulator for the case of unregulated input supply is more than 3 times of the minimum input voltage requirement of the LDO which is applicable for a 5V to 1.5V regulator. Experimental results are indicated with future suggestions for improvement
